Hey kids lets put all of Ariel's sisters on the cover too!! Oh oh, and the shark!

i think putting every single character on the cover will just get all jumbly.

Maybe you don't know but Eric is one of the main characters of the movie because he's the HERO  . I think's that's enough reason to have him on the cover.

I hope that we atleast get to see Eric and Scuttle on the back cover. I also really REALLY hope they fix the color of Tritons fins and Sebastians eyes. Also, I think Ariels eyes should be more blue. :(

That's not the main problem with Ariels eyes... The left one seems to be moving down her chin... Damn it looks bad...

I'm really excited about the new restoration. Does anyone of you know when will Disney release some screencaps of the restored version?

A couple weeks ago I started to read this thread hoping to catch up; got to page 24 and then work/life got in my way and this is the first time I've been able to come back. And because I probably will never catch up, I just thought I would post now. I apologize in advance for being a slacker or asking something that may have been resolved in the last 7 or so pages.... :D

1. So what is the status on the campaign to get Disney to do a gift box set?

2. I see you guys are still talking about whether or not TLM has rushed or unfinished animated scenes (ie, Disney in a hurry to have gotten TLM to the theaters and thus didn't finish or completely animate some of the scenes). Some of you feel that this is not correct and the scenes are intentionally drawn like that for artistic effect? Are these scenes really obvious when you are watching the film at normal speed or is this something that is noticed only when you slow or stop the movie on certain scenes? And if it is/was so obvious, was it obvious to the original movie goers who saw this in the theaters some 17 years ago? (I can't imagine that Disney would release an unfinished film assuming the critics would have jumped all over this)

3. Some of you mentioned they'd done some work on the film for an IMAX release. Was this film shown in IMAX theaters (when?) and what are the chances that TLM will have any type of limited release in theaters (how about El Capitan?) Since I've never seen this film, it would be great to view it for the first time in the theater.

The person who complained about these was, as far as I understood, only (mostly) referring to background paintings that are blurred or slightly skewed, rather than the actual animation of the characters (although he did use the phrase "unfinished animation").

1. - No box set will be coming.

3. - They stopped showing the Platinum's in IMAX but TLM had undergone the IMAX treatment befor the plug was pulled on those releases. It'll most definitley be shown at El Capitan though.

The Little Mermaid is really the only Platinum DVD i wanted.

I bought every other one to have, but i didn't really WANT them.

Sure, they're lovely.

But Boxsetted versions are much nicer.

Pooh on Disney for not making a Little Mermaid Gift Set.

Pooh pooh pooh.

I'm going to Japan in September.
Are you?

Disney Duster will revolutionize DVD covers!

There's lots of things I would change to the Platinum Edition cover, but I'd rather show people instead of just type it. My vison will be realized! I'll post a picture of how I would like the cover to be soon.

Yes, exactly. I was talking about very specific frames where some part of the background seems a bit rushed and I also gave examples.
Also, it's almost unoticeable for casual viewers but I just watched this film about a gazillion times in my lifetime so I was able to spot these. Character animation in the film is more than perfect IMO. Again, the animation in TLM is perhaps my favorite style along with BATB but I'm a perfectionist to say the least so these little complaints may sound picky to some.

examples (minor flaws, I know):
http://hq55.com/cap/lm/mermaid493.jpg - the bright purple behind that shell.

I suppose the backgrounds were intended to be like that. It looks more underwater. :)

It would be really great if you see it on theater because it's such a great movie. How come you've never watched it- I mean, with it's popularity and achievements? I assume that you're gonna love it!

Why is that bright purple a mistake? It's obvious that there is a light source somewhere in that tunnel.

I do know that Eric is the male lead, but I also know that too much clutter on the front of a dvd box looks horrible. Let's wait and see the back cover art before we complain too much about it.
