"Every", "every", "every" is quite a bit of an exaggeration here. But note that the instances of reused animation that you mention are all from the 60s and 70s - a time in which Disney animation was way past its creative peak and cost-cutting was king. Nothing strange about that.

BTW, isn't "animation" one of the nouns that cannot be "counted"? That is, one should not say "one animation", "every animation" or "animations". Am I right or wrong here?

I don't believe these have ever been posted anywhere before, but they are some I've always noticed when watching the films, so I made screencaps!

My 4 year-old little brother's favourite disney movie is "Sword in the Stone", one day he was watching "The Jungle Book" and HE pointed out to ME that the wolves lick Mowgli just like the dogs lick Arthur! I was so surprised that he'd noticed! I watched those films at his age and didn't notice a thing!

In "The Sword in the Stone", there was a scene where Sir Ector knocked Kay on the head with his sword and it's like the scene from "101 Dalmatians" where Horace knocked Jasper on the head with his club.

I think what she was referring to was the fact that there is the original length version of Ben and Me from 1953 (the version on the Treasures DVD), but there was an extended version of the story released later for the Disneyland TV series.

dont forget jungle book also reused animation n gags from ichabod and mr. toad during the rescue scene

It was a short, then there was an extended version of it broadcast on the anthology series.

a highly useful clip to see the similarities. im especially disappointed with the jungle book as its deemed as one of the great classics.

I think BATB can really be excused when you compare the amount that was done in other films. As I understand, they were really up against the clock for that final sequence, which is literally just seconds, so they traced over the footage of Aurora and Philip from the ending of Sleeping Beauty.

Not surprised. Although JB is quite appealing and a lot of fun I tend not to consider that and the other animated features of the era great works of art...

Why is it done? I'm talking about Bambi's mother in BATB and TLK, the dance scene from SB in BATB. Is it because of tight budget?

I don't really get your examples. I don't think those are actually re-used animation. A better example could be snow white and maid marrion in the party scene at Robin Hood's hide away, or the comparisons between Arthur from The Sword in the Stone and Mowgli in the Jungle Book.

Well part of the reason is for budgit and time, that's almost sure. I also think that a lot of it is because it's the same animators over and over. They're presented a scene that they animated once before but with different characters so they take a peek back and re-use it. I don't see much wrong with that. It saves time and time = money.

Personally I don't think it's all that bad. It's not like they are taking it from a different company. A lot of it is done with such subtlety that we wouldn't even notice it unless we were looking for it.

I'd say in the case of film like Robin Hood, The Fox and the Hound, The Jungle Book and The Rescuers, the issue was probably more money than time.

But with Beauty and the Beast I think time was the reason, particularly in the case of the ballroom scene. I'm sure on the DVD somewhere they mention this.

I was referring to those films because on Wikipedia it is mentioned that they recycled animation from Bambi into these films (BATB, TLK...).

hmmm, that's news to me. Does anyone know what parts they may be talking about?
