Ahh... there they are. $19.64 at my local WalMart this morning. Personally I believe the cost of the whole set will be repaid by having an anamorphic widescreen copy of "Grand Canyon". It won for Disney an academy award and I can't wait to hear it in Pro-Logic surround.
When they announced the re-release of Sleeping Beauty I was sitting here with fingers crossed because I knew that "Grand Canyon" was on the collector's Laser Disc and was hoping for a repeat in the DVD format.

Now I know many of you will be bored to tears after 90-seconds of this spectacular picture, but remember it was never intended to be viewed on a 19-inch screen. Nineteen FEET maybe, but not 19 inches! Size = Power in "Grand Canyon".

Grand Canyon is not anamorphic, it's 4:3 letterbox :(

I'm going to go watch "Grand Canyon" right now and imagine my 27" TV is a huge movie screen. :)

Ouch! Oh, well, that's the way the 16mm prints were released for schools and libraries, too. At least it's letterbox. When it ran on the Disney Channel (buried in the overnight) it was full frame. The only thing more compromising than that was a full frame exhibition of the original Circlerama (sp.) tour of America. I wonder if they'll ever release that on 6 DVDs so you can project it all over your living room walls. Hmmm...

I didn't know that music from "Grand Canyon" was used in certain spots in "A Christmas Story" (one of my all-time faves.. I could watch it on the 4th of July I like it so much!!) anyway.. I was just surprised :P

I wanted to go find it on my lunch hour, but didn't have time. Maybe, hopefully, tomorrow! Think about me tomorrow! I'll be really disappointed if I don't get it! Sounds selfish, doesn't it?

Got mine for 12.99 at Costco, since I had a $5-off coupon from purchasing Oliver & Company there.

I'm so excited!!!!!!!!!! :D I'm going to spend the rest of the day viewing it.

Hi everyone! I was so happy to get this dvd finally. It is one of my favorites. Did anybody buy theirs at best buy because the dvd came with a cd that had 3 songs from SB, BB, and Cinderella.

Got mine at walmart cause it was a dollar cheaper and right now, I have no money, and none coming in, I blew my last buck getting Sleeping Beauty today. I didn't even have enough for Family Guy vol. 2  . Though I did check Best buy, but they weren't offering a cd from what i could see.

I got that CD from BB too, but haven't listened to it yet. I guess it's a sample from one of their 'Princess' CDs.
On the plus side, it was the first time I have seen Sleeping Beauty and I think it is one of the best of the Disney movies I've seen.

Got my copy today (first thing in the morning) and went through all the special features and the movie too. What a phenomenal piece of work. It may not be called Platinum but in every way it is equal in the quality of the transfer and the bonus features. My favorite special feature was the almost 4 minute explanation & comparison of Widescreen to Pan n Scam. Even better than the comparison on the Vista Pearl Harbor (& NOT hidden as an easter egg). This should be mandatory on ALL dvds to show the uninformed full frame folk just WHAT THEY ARE MISSING. Maybe even the people at Disney will look at it and rerelease things like Moon-Spinners and so many other movies that are not available in WS. They show us how good it is but have put out a ton of stuff not in OAR. Anyway, I absolutely can't give Sleeping Beauty enough thumbs up. What a treasure.

Got mine at Walmart for 19.99

Picked it up in the early morning. I saw the movie, the animation style is interesting....I sort of smiled when I saw the young Prince philip(when he was 6 0r 7) giving a smirk when he looked in the baby's cradle what was that about?
And the fathers were doing a lot of drinking too. I loved the singing, and the romance in this film. Merryweather made me laugh. I thought it was great. Cheers!

One of the most beautiful-looking movies I've ever seen via DVD. Just astonishing.

I posted just to share that opinion, and considering how often I post...you know I mean it! ;)

Disney DVD does right by another classic. Bring on The Lion King.

Luke, I look forward to your Sleeping Beauty review. I'm sure you're in love with this DVD.

Great moment...Philip has been told to gaze upon his future wife and all he sees is an infant that is probably drooling and has a full diaper. That expression was probably quite appropriate!

Doesn't the narrator say he "looked unknowing on his future bride" or something like that? That would mean he doesn't know about the engagement yet.

I spent hours going through the disc, and I still haven't seen all the special features!

It's the first time I've seen the movie in many, many years and it was just awesome to watch. The story was the perfect fairy tale, the music was great, and the art - ooh, boy, I forgot how awesome the art was. When I first saw the medival-stylized animation, my jaw dropped. It looked outstanding.

My favorite special feature is the galleries. It's very cool how they take you through the castle to see the pictures, and the commentary tracks are very nice.

Overall, this is the best Disney DVD since Snow White, and is close to equalling it, as far as I'm concerned. A superb DVD on all levels.
