To be honest, I don't feel that great about this movie. I did like it when I was little, just like I liked most Disney movies. But I bought the DVD in December and I've watched it twice. The first time I was quite disappointed, but my spirits went up after watching the great Mulan that same day (I hadn't seen those movies in years back then). The second time I just had more hope for it, but I wasn't that thrilled again, though I came to appreciate some elements of the movie more. I'll just say it's nice, I don't feel like explaining why right now.

Of what I remember about it, I think it's only mediocre.

But I read that Bette Midler did the singing voice of Esmeralda So maybe I should watch it again.

I think they should release The Hunchback of Nortadame next year, in time for it's 10th year Anniversary as a 10th Anniversary Edition 2 disc set.

I don't think they will, though. I don't know why, but something tells me Disney doesn't like it too much or they don't think it made enough.

Actually, I think they will. Like Pocahontas, Hunchback had an extensive laserdisc filled with bonus material that can easily be ported over to DVD. When the original DVD came out, Disney had specs for a 2-disc edition on their DVD site for a few hours before they myteriously disappeared again. It seems they're waiting for next year to release it as a 10th anniversary edition just like Pocahontas (and perhaps the same will happen to Hercules in 2007). Plus, Hunchback is the only laserdisc boxed set (besides Cinderella) that has yet to have its features appear on DVD (at least, not in 2-disc form). It's also one of the few films made on the CAPS system that hasn't gotten a digital-to-digital transfer (the current transfer is from film; the only other CAPS movies like this on DVD are The Rescuers Down Under and Hercules).

Actually, she just sang a new redition of "God Help the Outcasts" for the soundtrack, in the movie, some Heidi Mollenhauer(sp?) is the singing voice.

I just saw it again recently and aside from the battle scenes, I hated it! If fact (IMO) it is the second to worst animated, non DTV, animated Disney film of all time. Only Black Cauldron is worst. It wasn't because it wasn't true to the story or anything like that, I just found it boring. The Gargoyles weren't funny the music was dull(and I really admire Alan Mecken) and the story was not kid-friendly. See another Disney movie instead!

What was the sequel like?

I really have to rent The Black Cauldron. I want to find out myself if it's really as bad as some on here say. I want my own opinion.

Just for the record and to keep on topic, "Hunchback" is one of my favorites Disney animated features ever and one of the ones who had the most impact on me (and on a lot of people I know) as an animation fan. Since it seems Annyversary Editions have really grown on Disney ("Pocahontas" and "Toy Story" this year), one for "Hunchback" can't be far enough.

I think it's safe to say that we will get a 2 disc of Hunchback. Heck we were going to get one a few years back! I think that 2006 would be the opportune time as it would be its 10th anniversary. However they didn't take the opportunity of releasing Lady and the Tramp on its 50th anniversary!

Anyway touching on what was mentioned earlier, The 3 Caballeros and Saludos Amigos (as well as all the package features) are in desperate need of releases with more bonus features and a restoration! It's pitiful that the DVD of "The Parent Trap" has more on the making of The 3 Caballeros than the Three Caballeros DVD does!

OK, time for my humble opinion now

I saw The Hunchback of Notre Dame for the first time 2 weeks ago and I *love* it. However, I am not sure I would have enjoyed it quite so much as a young child.

I loved the animation, the music, the colours... I even kinda liked the gargoyles. I loved the ending even though it differs from the book, and the choice Esmerelda made. On the whole, "Hunchback" is in my personal top 10.

Hunchback is my 5th favourite Disney movie, right after the Fab Four. I think it's spectacular, although the music is forgettable. I just watched it in September, and the only song I remember is "God Help the Outcasts."

But, I mean like, Ichabod, The Parent Trap sooooooooo like deserves a special edition more than The Three Caballeros which is like really really really dum! So is Dumbo. It doesn't deserve a platinum as like the other old Disney films it's soooo like the sequels; BORING! IMO, like the only coool Disney classics are:
