A new year and a new semester brings new classes. So what are you taking now?

My Spring 2006 Courses

• *Reading Children's Fiction
  *Peace, War, and Defense: National & International Security
  *History of Rome
  *American Literature 1865-1930
  *History of Film: 1960-Today

The Children's Lit class is fascinating thus far and is on track to become perhaps my favorite class yet in college. That is if it doesn't try to excessively deconstruct childhood. I'm quite enjoying all of them, except the Security one, for which the jury is still out.

I'm still majoring in Communication Studies (concentration: Media Studies) and have now picked up a minor in English, which I may bump up to a double major.

Taking all the easy courses this year... I also switched my major to Microbiology because Engineering is too freaking hard for me. Anyways, here's what I'm taking...

Public Speaking or Speech/Communication or Oral Communication (which ever you prefer to call it)
World Lit.
15 credits total.... oh yeah!!!

My courses for spring semester:

English History 1603-Present
Canadian History (I'm at the only Minnesota university to offer it)
U.S. Public History
U.S. Foreign Policy
Topics in International Relations: Issues before the U.N. General Assembly

Public history has 80 hours of internship involved with out ( = me upon finding that out) and my other two history classes have 15 page research papers. Blech.

Packing in 17 credits this semester. I refuse to be an undergrad for more than 4 years.

Psychology of Death & Dying
Physiological Psychology
Developmental Psychology II
Child Development

15 units. 4 classes are online so I'm only on campus for one day for Child Development (Wednesday).

I have:

Logic
Can't translate the name of the course... so I'd say: Spanish Composition ?
Public Relations
Periodism (but I'm going to change it for: Computer Presentations for Advertizing)


...12 credits: 2 days a week (from 11:30 til 5:30).

However, that's more than enough for me this semester since I'm taking modeling classes every Saturday and have to be back for a full time routine in the gym.


PS

I don't think Oral Communication is an easy class. I haven't take it yet but here you have to give presentations almost in every class (the first one doing your own research, later on you just stand in front of the class and the Prof. gives you the topic you're supposed to talk about). Plus, you're being filmed and later you have to watch the tapes so you can see what you did wrong.

Um, I definately NEED it, but I'm procrastinating. Next semester for sure. Spanish is like Houston's second language, so every student at the university is required to take an exam to see where we stand on the subject: Most likely I will start in the intermediate classes, but the thing is, I haven't scheduled my appointment. I've been in college almost two years and I haven't taken or done half of the stuff I should have done as a freshman! I'm graduating early, so I've pushed all my basics, including Spanish, to my last year, which should be the one upcoming.

I have a few difficult ones, but my Fall semester classes are as follows---

Principles of Accounting, Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing, Computer Business Applications, and Web Page Design.

For this semester I'm taking:
Calculus for Biologist. That's usefull
General Chem. II + Labatory (which is a different class all together)
Attributes of Living Things + Lab (in other words Biology, not as difficult as last one I took last spring)

13 credits total. Should be a good semester!

Here is my Fall 2006 Schedule. I'm sort of in the same boat as Zoltack with a lot of science classes, but I made it more interesting with electives:

Organic Chemistry I - 2 semester course I'm really looking forward to . I couldn't get into the lab though b/c the previous year's students keep failing so its filled with students who've just taken or took a long time ago Orgo I and II.
Principles of Food Science - YAY!
Principles of Food Science Lab
Politics of Environmental Issues - this is supposedly one of the easy A class that's required. If not, it's an interesting topic anyhow.
Greek and Roman Mythology - I can't wait to learn about the real Hercules and the legends they refer to in American Dragon.
