They also ruined their last traditional animated movies. I liked Emperor's New Groove. I didn't love it like with Aladdin or Lion King, but I liked it just fine. I thought it was funny, but only the first time. The second time, it was boring. Whereas I still watch those classics today and have a great deal of fun. I liked the Emperor's New Groove, but after watching 'The Sweatbox', I plain hated it, and Disney's executives. Instead of going for something epic, they decided to stick with a risk-free plot line. To know how high the director and writers and animators were aiming and how epic the movie could have been and to know that Disney cut their wings is so frustrating...
I agree completely. I LOVE, LOVE Emperor's New Groove, but what we could had was the last great Disney musical until Frozen 11-13 years later. KOTS was a HUGELY EPIC story with gorgeous music (Eartha Kitt singing a Disney movie   ) and not to mention, a Latino Disney Princess that everyone wants. We had something as good as lion King, but sadly the test audience hated it because it WAS a Disney movie. They were sick of "Lion King" and "Aladdin". They wanted something fresh and new, so we had Emperor's New Groove. And I really feel terrible for Sting and I don't blame him for hating Disney now. At least, some of the KOTS songs was on the soundtrack. One Day, She'll Love Me is GORGEOUS and Sniff Off the Light would have been up there with Be Prepared and Poor Unfortunate Souls. I do think Disney can redo KOTS and the music since it has hardly any resemblance to Emperor's New Groove. I think the world is definitely ready for KOTS.
I think 'Princess and the Frog' didn't do so well because people don't believe in traditional animation anymore. But if Disney insisted on it with Tangled and Frozen instead of adopting CG, I think they could've revived it. Instead, they've become just another CG studio.
I don't think it's ONLY because of 2D. I think it's mostly because the second black/first African American Princess is a freaking animal. Because come on, if I was black, I would probrably have been offended and angry about that. And it didn't help that these zealot-Christians flipped out about voodoo. Because we never have seen magic in a Disney movie before. They just need to give 2D to the right Disney movie. Giants and Moana can easily be 2D. So, why not restart 2D with them? If Frozen was 2D, it's a pretty much safe bet that 2D would have been back.

I didn't think about that. but I don't think people should get offended because she was a frog, I mean, it was part of the story. But I can understand.

I too believe with all my heart that they should re-do KOTS. It would have leveld eye to eye with Lion King. And like you said, it has very little to do with Emperor's New Groove. Besides, apart from the die-hard fans, The Emperor's New Groove has not made any mark on people's memory (that's my opinion).

Giants and Moana are confirmed to be CG. Such a shame. There was a rumor that they would use the hybrid technique used in Paperman and Get a Horse in Moana, but I think it's been already dismissed officially.

I agree its the media that dictates what people, especially kids, think is popular. As for TENG I liked it, and I usually dont care for flat out comedies, but I found the comedy clever without being obnoxious like with the Dreamworks films. I wonder if the tonal shift from the original KOTS had to do with the fact that Dreamworks was making the similar Road to El Dorado around the same time.

Well, Moana is going to be in painterly style CG which is almost like Paperman, buy only different.

It's not that pricey, just import taxes can be the real financial pain.

I think people tend to forget that this has been released on DVD AND Blu-ray in France.
