I just bought a new Beauty And The Beast Platinum 2 DVD Set off E-Bay and they included an actual picture of it and it is the real thing.

I got it for $39.00 and it was a close win. Because a nother bidder kept on upping it but I won. I just sent them payment via www.bidpay.com I can't wait to get it.

Not really a "new DVD report" here, just something I noticed at Wal-Mart, Target, and Sam's Club:

1. At Wal-Mart, most of the new DVDs they showcase are often FullScreen, with Widescreen to the side. Also, most of the regular DVDs they stock are in P&S, with a nice amount of WideScreen. But many of the ones they carry in P&S, they don't carry in widescreen, and the ones in widescreen are few and far between.

2. At Target, they try and have both, but it seems that they always showcase the fullscreen new releases over the widescreen ones for the first few weeks/months.

3. At Sam's Club, they had a special 2-pack of Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2, but the only 2-packs made were just for full screen. Also, like Wal-Mart (but that's understandable as it's the same company), the majority of movies were fullscreen, especially with Harry Potter and Spider-Man 2 (and I spent a good 10 minutes moving the DVDs around, so there was a Widescreen in the front of every row of DVDs for Harry Potter).

Why the hell do they do that?

Silly me, I DID get new DVDs:

I mentioned already Spider-Man 2, but that day I also got a nice used copy of The Cider House Rules for $8

Yesterday I did some Christmas shopping and got Jane's Christmas presents, among them a nice DVD.

Also got Kram his Christmas present, but he insisted on seeing it (The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, $15), so now he either has to pay me $15 or I gotta get him something else.

And for myself, got: Sleepless in Seattle, The Neverending Story, and two Bond movies, The Man with the Golden Gun and Goldeneye. All used. I'm not that big on Bond films, only saw probably five or six, but there's four I like, and only four I'd buy on DVD, the two mentioned, Goldfinger, and The Living Daylights. And maybe Octopussy and Moonraker.

I got the first three seaons of Fraiser at a super low price (says he who dislikes sitcoms!); Star Trek: Generations (Special Edition); Rescue from Gilligan's Island and some gifts for freinds and family.

Now all I have to do is not spend before Xmas.

I got the The Day After Tomorrow as a birthday gift! I was so happy as I went to see it for 3 times when it was in theatres. I absolutely love that movie and Dennis Quaid!

Third Rock from the Sun: Complete Season 1 UK

Got Mickey Mouse in Black and White: Volume 2, Mickey Mouse Club, and The Ultimate Matrix Collection (just the DVD set, not the humungous statue set). Expensive day!

I bought the 3 Treasures. Also saw the matrix modern art glass and plastic sculpture thing at $89 in Cotsco, and as i have a Trinity bust was thinking If I should buy it and make my own custom Lucasian alteration to it and digitally add trinity to the left. So i'll sleep on it. But first a treasure marathon it'll be.

Last night, I picked up the Hellboy Director's Cut from the shops (the Aussie version, which doesn't have the statue, but is cheaper and has a bonus comic, which is of more value to me anyways).

Batman: The Animated Series came early (Volume 1 this is, although it was meant to ship with Volume 2 and Superman in January), and so did The Golden Girls, but that will now be a gift.

The Italian Job for only $9.99 @ Costco!

Today I picked up parcels from the post office. The biggest surprise was my Christian Aid package (not SecretSanta) from an UltimateDisney member (who shall remain nameless).

This contained:
A Finding Nemo Growth Chart!
Annie Hall DVD
Love and Death DVD
Dawn of the Dead Divimax DVD (now I'll probably appreciate Shaun of the Dead even more! )
Frontline Series 1 DVD (comes highly recommended)
Disney Extreme Sports Fun (feat. Sport Goofy) DVD

I also picked up The Ultimate Matrix Collection which has been waiting for 3 days at the Post Office, as well as an Amazon pack with all three Treasures and the Sienfeld Gift Set (and no import charges! Wheee!)

Loomis- how cheap did you get those Frasier sets for? Just curious.

I look forward to hearing all of your thoughts on the new Matrix set. It's tough being in stores with all these new releases and forcing myself to not buy anything until after Christmas.

Well, Aaron, I'm not a big fan of the Matrix movies (surprise! ) - I almost cancelled the set, but the commentary from the critics who dislike the films made me keep it. I could tell you about them, but I guess that's not what you want to hear. My mum's getting the previous releases off me.

The "plain" set is nice. A nice shiny slipcover and interesting packaging inside (it features the same overlaying DVDs as the latest BV TV-on-DVD discs). But its professionaly designed and put together. The descriptive band/page thing will be a bugger to keep intact though, as I know most of you like to do. Sadly, it cannot be placed in the slipcover box easily. This band is the same design as my French Tex Avery tin, so I assume its the same as the Band of Brothers Tin, which more people may be familiar with.

Yup! I haven't seen it since I watched it in theaters back in Summer '03, but I found it suprisingly good! Never saw the original, though - I can't say I'm really drawn to it either.

I got them for $44.95 Australian, which is about $34 US, which may not seem THAT cheap (I see that they are between $27 and $37 on Amazon), but given that they were previously $69.95 here, I considered it a bargain.

2099 - Also nice to see that Christian Aid Packages are making their way across the oceans. Brings hope to the world.

I have a few packages in the post and birthday coming, so I guess I'll be posting here tomorrow night!
