^ I've been listening to it. It is absolutely amazing. The new songs, the new lyrics, the new arrangements. Absolutely amazing. <3 <3 <3

Disney's Theatrical Production "Newsies" Nominated for Eight Tony® Awards

My wife and I caught Newsies this past Sunday while we were in New York. It was awesome and Jeremy Jordan is amazing.
The crowd was going nuts through the whole thing. I have never seen a crowd so engaged in a show, ever. More than once, the orchestra just had to start playing to get the crowd to stop clapping/cheering from the previous song.
I have no doubt this one will become a permanent fixture on Broadway, in spite of Disney's current advertisement of a "Limited Engagement."

Newsies Cast Reacts to 8 Tony Award Nominees

Yay! (Oh, and adorable doggie, too!!!!)
Pioneering female reporter provides the inspiration for Kara Lindsay's character in Disney "Newsies the Musical"
http://jimhillmedia.com/editor_in_chief ... -quot.aspx
I had been wondering about Katherine, because she's obviously young, so this makes the character make more sense...I haven't seen the show, so I didn't know if she was just supposed to be 18...also, I don't know much about women's careers back in 1899, so, yeah, with Nellie Bly being the inspiration, the character makes more sense to me now!
*edit*

I hope Newsies wins for Best Musical. I feel nervous that the stupid Broadway people thinks Once is going to win since it got 11 tony nomination. Once looks kind of boring. Newsies is more exciting. Hope it wins all the tony awards.

"Once" will likely take Best Musical, which I'm fine with because it's actually a very sweet and lovely show, and not boring, though I guess vague familiarity with the show gives you ample material to draw conclusions from. I can easily see "Newsies" winning for music, however. In a weaker year "Newsies" could have sweeped, but "Once" is a pretty big critical / commercial darling at this point.

I'm so jealous Jiminy you got to see the show, get all that stuff and meet the cast! I was reading the D23 article on the show and couldn't believe Crutchie was being played by someone so attractive.

I know, right? Of all the famous people I have met very few make me feel nervous (Asking Kevin Smith something at a Q&A live and in person but also being beamed across North America was one, Christian Borle was another the same trip as Newsies actually) but when I met Andrew it was like 'Oh you were so good' mixed with 'Hey your famous', 'I love your other work', 'I have so much to say!' and a large amount of 'Dear God you are hot! Please consider me for next boyfriend please.'

which made me sort of shaky but I think it went well.

The whole cast was very sweet and it seems like EVERYONE in the cast loved the bow tie I had on, that I actually got at 'How to Succeed...' the night before. I really wish I could see everything I saw again as well as everything in New York I missed, plus Newsies about 12 more times. I miss it so much already.
This is a link by the way to a TV show they make in New York with Michael Riedel of the New York Post and Susan Haskins. On this one they talk to Alan Menken & Harvey Fierstein about The Book Of Morm-- Nah. What else? NEWSIES!
