Spoiler speculation zone:
I think that the duke wanted to use Elsa's power for evil. My best guess is that he was the one who cursed Elsa to use her powers. She realized what he was doing and runs away because no one believes her.
Something like that. I am 95% sure that it was the duke who was telling her to control her powers.

Also, I think that's Elsa glove that Anna is holding, and I believe that she is wearing Elsa's red cloak for the rest of the movie. And Elsa gets queened in the mornings, but runs away at night.. So I'm assuming something big happened within those hours between.
I really hope Elsa is over 21, we havent had an adult character in a while, and it'd be really interesting to see an older princess. Right now, I'd say Belle is the oldest, they never mention her age..
Ps. Olaf looks scary, like a toy...

But,but,but,but,but,but-I thought Elsa had these powers by birth? And what the hell does Hans do?
Well, okay. Here's my cheesy theory split into two forms
1.The Duke is not evil: Elsa and Hans had a a very intimate relationship:therefore,at some point Elsa reveals his secret to Hans. Hans doesn't want to be associated with the possible prophesized evil monarch and breaks up with her.Years later, Hans dates Anna because she's the closest thing to Elsa. All of this enhances Elsa's anxieties. After Elsa's powers are revealed and she has retreated to the ice castle,Hans feels guilty about what he had done in the past and tells Anna to search for her (because he is too much of a pussy to apologize face-to-face by himself.

)Anna leaves Hans in charge, but he has NO f-ing idea what to do about a frozen kingdom. At one point he ready to give up,and let the people take matters into their own hands( even letting them execute Elsa).
The Duke takes the role of an advisor and uncle who apparently doesn't like Hans because Hans can easily take a piece of Elsa and Anna.
The problem with this plot is that Hans giving up on the monarchy system is not really considered "cold hearted" (unless the people execute Elsa). The directors would also have to make up time to illustrate Elsa and Hans relationship whether Hans truly loved her or not.
2.The Duke is evil: The Duke takes note of Elsa,Hans, and Anna's weaknesses and uses them to advantage of destroying their positions. Elsa has wierd powers that fit her into the prophecy.Hans is unwilling to accept Elsa or apologies face-to-face.(Yeah,this makes Hans a shitty match for the princesses.) And Anna can possibly screw this up if she dies on the mission to find Elsa or if she cannot convince Elsa that she is still good-hearted.
This version actually sounds pretty realistic. It gives an interesting touch. There is also historical evidence that the young monarchs where taken advantage by court members who wanted the throne or wanted to destroy the monarchy.
Yeah these theories are pretty wierd

,but I don't know what to make of it.There's not much official material released by Disney right now.

I don't think Disney would make a movie about a girl who had just gotten dumped, also hans dating Anna would be weird.
To me, I think that Hans isn't really a big character. The whole movie will focus on Anna and Kristof and Elsa.
This could either go Beauty and the Beast and surprise the shit out of people, or it could go bad. Only time will tell.

Not really so much about being dumped, but more about being rejected for snow powers.Having Hans as just some big lip alligator moment is just not fitting.I'm hoping that his charatcter is revelant one way or another.

You forgot about the trolls ! They do exist, but no one talk about em. Is it the king of trolls who is talking to Anna ? Something about Elsa's powers, the trolls, ( and a mirror ?).
I am not even sure we will know about Elsa's powers origin...
I think the Duke is just a useless, comic character, kind of father character ( Sultan, Maurice, Professor Porter kind...).
I think the sexy gorgeous Hans want to mary one of the two sisters to get power. He came to the coronation to mary Elsa.
Elsa is hiding her power. She's afraid to be the "ruler with a cold heart" of the prophecy. Suddenly, i don't know why, her powers are revealed. Sky goes dark, she freezes everything by mistake and, full of shame, escapes.
So Hans try to seduce Anna instead, then send her to look for Elsa ( he pretends to support Anna about Elsa goodness, so she leaves to find her)... Maybe she will die in all that cold, he thinks. And now the throne is empty. Evil hans is happy and ready to rule

Well, Maybe later he meets Elsa and is interested into her power. He wants to use her "beautiful" power, and he wants her to join him to rule the world. In that case, he would be the one talking like this in the trailer. But it's not a young handsome man voice.
Here's my delirious, silly story.

I found some Kay Nielsen illustrations for
The Snow Queen from when he did the artwork of Hans Christian Andersen's Fairytales and Other Stories:
"Such a heart became a block of ice"
"As they went, it became a beautiful Spring with wild flowers"

This is trivial at best, but I like how the two Frozen posters almost make a bigger picture when placed side by side.

It looks like we won't be getting a theatrical trailer until mid-September at best. Cloudy 2 will be released on September 27th.

Fuck it, Tudyk is playing the villain. Couldn't they at least give it a few more movies before casting him in that role again.
Edit: Well, I suppose he could just be an antagonistic figure without being the Big Bad. Still hold out hope that there will be no villain.

So, the Duke is the villain. Nice, but...
1) Alan Tudyk AGAIN?

We know that a lot of voice actor play more than one villaine. But, this is way too soon.
2) And the big, bad motive is:
...Anything that might help him exploit Arendelle’s tradable goods. REALLY, DISNEY, REALLY?!

Again, a evil ruler is supposed to rule. It still could be
Hans.
3) Where are the trolls?!

i think it's too fast to say that. there could be a stronger/ more evil villain.
