Golden Globe nominations are in and The Wind Rises was nominated for Best Foreign Film but not Best Animated?

Best Foreign Language Film
"Blue is the Warmest Color"
"The Great Beauty"
"The Hunt"
"The Past"
"The Wind Rises"

Best Animated Feature Film
"The Croods"
"Despicable Me 2"
"Frozen"

And here's Let It Go's competition:

Best Original Song
"Atlas," Coldplay ("The Hunger Games: Catching Fire")
"Let It Go," Idina Menzel ("Frozen")
"Ordinary Love," U2 ("Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom")
"Please Mr. Kennedy," Oscar Isaac, Justin Timberlake and Adam Driver ("Inside Llewyn Davis")
"Sweet Than Fiction," Taylor Swift ("One Chance")

And that's how it should be. The Academy should only include USA movies for BEST ANIMATED FEATURES and foreign animated films for BEST FOREIGN FILMS.

Thank you Jesus that FROZEN IS POSSIBLY A SHOO-IN! WDAS is finally getting an major award!

Monsters University was snubbed as well. If Frozen loses to either of those other two nominees... :x

This is, in fact, the first year a Pixar film didn't get a Golden Globe nomination since this category began in the 2006-2007 year. Even Cars 2 got one, despite being left out at the Oscars.

It deserved to get a nomination based on the overall weak field, but if it makes things easier for Frozen...

It's called Best Animated Feature, not Best American Animated Feature. And that's incredibly jangoistic to suggest that films not made in the United States aren't allowed to compete in a category they're perfectly eligible for.

I'm sorry, estefan :( I wasn't trying to be jangoistic at all.

A very interesting article about the preconceptions surrounding animated features at the Oscars.

Animation is still trying to come of age at the Oscars

The Producer's Guild nominations have been announced.

Their nominees for Best Animated Feature are:

The Croods (DreamWorks Animation)
Producers: Kristine Belson, Jane Hartwell

Despicable Me 2 (Universal Pictures)
Producers: Janet Healy, Chris Meledandri

Epic (Twentieth Century Fox)
Producers: Jerry Davis, Lori Forte

Frozen (Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures)
Producer: Peter Del Vecho

Monsters University (Pixar Animation)
Producer: Kori Rae

I think Frozen is winning this. The PGA gave this award to Wreck-It Ralph last year, too. I'm also happy to see Epic get a nomination here (as much as I love Frozen, Epic is my favourite animated film of the year).

Also, Saving Mr Banks got a Best Picture nomination from this group, which raises its chances to get in at the Oscars.

Yeah, Frozen is definitely a shoo-in for both "The Producer's Guild" and "Golden Globe".

I would love to see Saving Mr. Banks sneak in a Best Picture nomination.

As far as Best Animated Feature goes, the real question should be: Which movie gets left out?

The Locks

1. Frozen
2. The Wind Rises

Three spots are open and it looks like it's between Monsters University, Ernest and Celestine, The Croods, and Despicable Me 2.

I'm sorry but I think that Despicable Me 2/ The Croods might get this, despite Frozen doing so good. The awards have been anti- Disney since the 80's, maybe even before that.

So.... which do you think will get nominated/win for the Best Animated Feature Oscar this year? I personally hope Frozen gets nominated and wins.

Nah, I think Frozen is a lock, it is by far the most acclaimed films among those nominated. Only The Wind Rises will compete with it for awards.

They HAVE to give this one to Frozen. Disney has affirmed their place in the world of CGI, and people are finally taking their films seriously again. It was wrong last year when they didn't give it to Wreck-it Ralph.

It was such a shame Tangled got snubbed so much when it was released awards-wise. I've always thought it was totally unwarranted for it to have been ignored so much. Though it did win a Grammy award randomly.

Well no more sentimentality votes for Wind Rises then ;)

The race is basically Wind Rises vs. Frozen, but it looks more and more like the latter is probably winning.

I seriously doubt it, but do you think he made that announcement for "symphony" votes for the Oscar?

Nah, he has changed his mind about retirement many times before. I doubt he cares all that much about the Oscar.
