I'm bringing back this thread because I finally got around to printing these covers... but there's a problem!
I've got a brand new fancy Epson Stylus CX6600 and bought some super expensive HP Premium Plus glossy photo paper... but I can't get accurate colors!
The grey metalic backgrounds from the dvdcoverart.com printouts are a turquoise hue and everythings is just off.
How do I get accurate print outs that mirror that of the images on my monitor?
Have any of you that printed these covers had the same issue or did they all come out looking pretty close to the accuracy of the artwork that Grunches posted?
I'm pretty sure my pc is properly calibrated so why am I getting this?
What should I do... I spent close to $50 on this paper!
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong or what I need to do differently?
Thx.

First of all, you are spending way too much money on paper!
Second, your avatar is hypnotizing
Third, Im sure that something is screwed up w/ your printer. have you tried cleaning the ink cartridge lens or callibrating your ink. The colors could be mixing causing a diffrent color to show. Or maybe you bought a defective ink. I'd try fiddling with the settings on the Epson (epson is very good with providing ways to align/ clean the heads) After that I'd get a replacemnet ink cartridge
Im sorry its not working, it worked great for me. Every once and awhile I needed to clean the printing head or align it but for the most part it was woking fine. I need to get better printing paper though.

ha thanks Sofa...
I just got the printer 2 weeks ago though.
It's BRAND new.
as are the ink cartridges.
I don't think cleaning the heads would dd it because they are straight out of the box.
How would I go about calibrating the ink though?
Thanks a lot!!

Ok, lets see. I dont have my epson anymore so this is off the top of my head. When you go a print something it alwys has a little "Printer Settings" box. Click that and the Epson box will pop up. Is there a "maintenance" tab? If there is click it and one of the options will be to align the print heads.

Thanks I'll give it a try..
Is there any way that it could just be the paper that I'm using or does that not make sense?
I don't see how it would effect the tonal qualities of the color to such a degree...
Anyways, I'll give it a try and post if I'm still having problems.
Thanks again.

Got it - the allignment doesnt seem to be a problem at all.
Im cleaning the head nozzles now to see if thats an issue.
edit: no problems that I can detect...
Im printing on plain paper to see if that works.
If not, Im stumped.

Well what do you know - It works on regular computer paper!
Now how the hell do I get it to translate to nice glossy paper so that I can print out proper covers?

it could be the paper. the colors may not stick properly, and the colors blend together. That may be the problem. Is it Epson paper? You should always try and get paper that matches your printer. That could be it.
