I'll be adding the new votes tomorrow, but keep em coming, people!

That's an interesting way of doing it. Kinda cheating (:P) and it's supposed to be your favorites in the order they're your favorite, I thought, but you can do it however. I find it weird that if this is to include your favorites but also the ones you think are the greatest, and you usually seem to provide reasons why your favorites are also the greatest...some of your choices puzzle me.

Yeah, it could be seen as cheating, but it technically isn't breaking any of the rules. My favourites and the films I consider the greatest often cross over, but they're not always the same. In the case of the DACs for example, my favourite is probably Dumbo, but I think Fantasia is the greater film; nonetheless, Dumbo is the second greatest DAC. Similarly, The Little Mermaid is a better film than Aladdin, but I find Aladdin slightly more enjoyable.
Why do some of my choices puzzle you?

I can justify all of them.
Disney Duster wrote:Uh, thanks, you can make it the big four, too, but is that the only time you've called us that?
Yes, it's the only time I've called the three of you that; it just appears that you three are the most frequent/entertaining/notorious members here.

Yeah, what the hell is that!?! Not too long ago we talked about how Tangled may have caused you to loose complete faith in Disney as a whole. You even just stated that today (or yesterday) in another thread.
I mean, this list is completely up to you and I'm in no way saying you're wrong... it's just that this seems to contradict most things you've been saying about Tangled for years.

I'm surprised at the surprise (

) over Duster's ranking. It's always been clear he likes
Tangled. He tries to "fix" it because he likes it.
Most of the ranking doesn't shock me. The Fab Four, of course, are winning. I'm shocked to see Aladdin winning though (from the public votes, maybe the PMs show a different story). Of course, some are over-ranked/under-ranked to me, but that's to be expected.

Yea, the reason that I'm so bothered by Tangled is it has stuff I like in it and I feel it has half the Disney Essence back that we hadn't had in a long time...but it is ruined by other things. I still don't own it. I'm trying to buy a version titled Rapunzel though.
Hehe, after editing my post now technically I didn't vote for
Tangled...
Dr. Frankenollie, I'm glad you kept Dumbo first then. Your puzzling choices would be The Jungle Book, The Rescuers, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Great Mouse Detective, Alice in Wonderland, The Sword in the Stone, and The Three Caballeros OVER other films from the Disney canon. Those films aren't bad, I just mean in relation to the other films you could have picked or placed higher. It only makes sense to me in that they're your favorites. I also don't quite get why you and
Goliath have The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh because you two don't seem like to like such heartwarming cuddly stuff.

I don't get why the choices you mention are puzzling. You say in relation to other films; what films have I neglected? Bambi is style over substance (although I still respect its animation and really like parts of it); Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King appear to be overrated on this forum, so I excluded them because I think other films deserve more votes; I haven't seen Mulan and Tarzan in full for some time so I can't accurately judge them; while I like Cinderella, I think its extreme amount of filler partially spoils it; and 101 Dalmatians is somewhat overrated.
In defence of the films you mentioned: The Rescuers is one of the most touching DACs and it has some of Disney's most well-developed characters and beautiful songs; The Jungle Book is a lively, well-animated film with great songs and an interesting philosophical side, showing us the pros and cons of different lifestyles in highly inventive ways; Ichabod & Mr Toad's two halves may not fit that well together, but the film (along with the other package DACs) is underrated, and I think it features some of Disney's most amusing, frightening and suspenseful sequences ever; Winnie the Pooh is a uniquely innocent, hilarious film with great characters; Great Mouse Detective is witty, exiting and features one of Disney's best villains; Alice in Wonderland arguably lacks heart but is full of great animation, music and great comedic characters (and if it is more-or-less a comedy, since when do comedies require 'heart'?); Sword in the Stone suffers from lazy and forgettable designs, but manages to delight, excite and features a great villianess and some memorable songs; and Three Caballeros, while being uneven in parts, is one of Disney's funniest films.
Perhaps Three Caballeros, Sword in the Stone and even Alice in Wonderland aren't as good as the aforementioned films I neglected, but all three are quite underrated and they deserve more recognition (hence why I included them on my list).
Disney Duster wrote:I also don't quite get why you and

I don't know about Goliath, but when it's done well, I love heartwarming cuddly stuff. Winnie the Pooh does it well, with charming characterisation, innocent yet hilarious dialogue/gags, and a couple of surprisingly bittersweet scenes. Also, the surreal "Heffaloomps & Woozles" scene is no "Pink Elephants on Parade", but is a terrific mixture of dazzling animation and entertaining music nonetheless.

Disney Duster wrote:I also don't quite get why you and Goliath have The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh because you two don't seem like to like such heartwarming cuddly stuff
Oh? Would I be a fan of Disney's if I didn't like "heartwarming cuddly stuff"? Most Disney films contain that in one form or another. The original Winnie the Pooh shorts (
Honey Tree and
Blustery Day) are just so wonderful because of the rich characterizations (especially Winnie and Rabbit) and the many memorable, delightful songs, which are among the best Disney have ever done. And even the 'Heffalumps and Weezles' sequence alone makes it deserving of a spot in the Top 20.
Oh, and
The Rescuers should be in everybody's top 10. The only thing I am disappointed in, is that vastly overrated films like
Beauty and the Beast and
Lion King end up in place 1-5 so often.

I wouldn't say it's cheating, but it is quite restrained

I'd say that most of the DACs are heartwarming, but there's something to be said for Pooh's innocence and vibrancy

Okay, I'm not sure if I'm completely happy with this. There are a few movies I haven't seen in a while and I probably won't get around to re-watching them before the end of the month and a few I don't have.
But anyway:
1 Beauty and the Beast
2 The Little Mermaid
3 Brother Bear
4 Tangled
5 The Princess and the Frog
6 Meet the Robinsons
7 Aladdin
8 The Fox and the Hound
9 Bolt
10 Treasure Planet
11 The Black Cauldron
12 Tarzan
13 The Lion King
14 The Sword in the Stone
15 Alice in Wonderland
16 Atlantis: The Lost Empire
17 Cinderella
18 Mulan
19 The Great Mouse Detective
20 The Rescuers
Just out of interest, are you going to evaluate the results by giving each rank a value (eg #1 is 20, #2 is 19, #20 is 1), then dividing each titles totaled values by the number of people who voted and the highest number wins (Title value / voters = winner). If you do do it this way and find that some have the same value (depending on whether they have been voted for et cetera), you could evaluate them with another system. For example, if there are three with the same value, which rank higher more often (Mode - X title was voted at #4 12 times, Y title only 10 times).
Also, are you doing this via a spread sheet? Done right and all you'll have to do is copy and paste the results, with the right formulas the spread sheet will do the work.

Now, now people...let's not "attack" each other's movie opinions. You can vote however way you want to. So far, there have been a few private votings...and it's still very interesting.
Although the Top 5 is not really a surprise...things might still change around, when more people will vote....so come on guys (and girls), keep m coming!
