That's ok. Best Buy is going to have the 5 disc for $24.99 ($19.99 w/coupon).

Best Buy in Canada is ripping us off. They have it advertised as $29.99, and underneath in fine print they write "$34.99 without coupon". Bastards.

I'm sick and tired of these price discrepancies between us and the US.

I typically buy the non 3-D combo pack at Shopper's Drug Mart. The cashiers don't seem to have a problem with it. That's what I did with The Lion King (which came out as $20) and I will likely do the same with Cars 2.

As much as I wanted to buy this at Best Buy for its price, I do not live close enough to one. Instead, I had to suffice with buying it at Target who had it at the best price in my area (Meijer, another store I visited, only had the standard blu-ray+dvd combo), and of course it had to come in that stupid gimmicky packaging. I am sure kids will get a kick out of it, that is until the battery wears out on the light. I opened it when I got home and as I figured, the discs were stacked on top on one another (similar to the two Fox and the Hound DVDs from the recent blu-ray), which is very annoying (thank god that blu-ray discs are more scratch resistant, though). I am thinking of buying a Blu-Ray case that can hold 4 discs (keeping the digital copy disc in the sleeve it came in). I would advise people to avoid buying the 3D combo set at Target (unless you're into "collectibles").
Sorry about that little rant. I am just sick of companies trying to be cool with releasing movies on Blu-Ray by doing some packaging that could damage the discs. Also, I have not watched the movie yet, so I cannot give a second opinion on whether the movie was as bad as I thought it was when I first saw it.

since we are ranting... I got my 3-d combo from TRU for the bonus disc, extra coupons and clock. After questioning with the employee who verified with the manager the disc was inside even though there wasnt a special sticker saying a bonus disc was inside. guess what, no bonus disc inside.. call a few TRUs and found one with the sticker on the sleeve that has the extra disc inside... taking my copy tomorrow to exchange.. hoping there is no problem even though its opened.. fingers crossed

This is almost what happened to me with Best Buy's bonus disc for Pirates 4. The one I bought, did not have it. Buggers.

I was watching the standard Blu-Ray disc of Cars 2 last night when something happened every owner of a blu-ray player dreads: The disc froze twice in two different areas. The first time was during the airport scene when Finn was escaping with Mater (about 44 minutes in). The second time was when Mater, Finn and the other spy car (forgot her name) were tied up inside the big bently tower. I was so annoyed by this, that I skipped through most of the movie afterwards, so I don't know if there were any other skips or freezes.
I don't know whether or not I should return the copy to Target for another one, in the event I get another defective copy.

Does anyone else feel like Pixar may have been working on a spy movie that wasn't working out so well, and had pressure to make a Cars sequel so they quickly mixed the two together and called it a film?
I mean seriously...
I just watched the film for the first time after blind buying it, and it is by far the worst Pixar film in their cannon. I honestly can't believe how bad this story was. It's not as if the original Cars had a fantastic story, but are you telling me this is the best they could come up with?
I guess I should re-phrase this a bit though. I didn't mind the spy story, and I didn't mind the cars story. I just really really really wish they had been 2 different films then. The whole spy they is way too distracting, and just... dumb with the Cars cast.
It is a very pretty movie though, and that's about the best I can say.

Make sure your firmware is up to date. If it still does it I would exchange for another copy. I've seen a few people report issues with this disc on different message boards this week.

No problem, the site is really easy to use and it really works. I've gotten numerous Amazon gift cards with my "bucks" and I apply them to each Blu-ray pre-order I place on the site.
To continue the off-topicness (if only briefly), how long does it take to get the Amazon e-Gift card? I just redeemed it this morning and I have no idea what happens next. Do I get an email with the code, or what?

Anyone have an idea about how long the Carsland feature is on the "Please upgrade to 3D" edition?

Blu-ray.com's review lists it as 7 minutes.

Yes, Air Mater and the Toy Story short are on all versions.

i feel differently about it. the battery is interchangeable, and any packaging that doesng look like it's going to fall apart is above par for disney, plus blu-rays are far more damage-resistant than dvds.

Looks like it's been selling pretty well as the Target and Best Buy closest to me were both sold out of the Blu-ray 3D combo packs.
I just watched the movie again last night and enjoyed it. While not a perfect film (I agree it has its share of flaws), it's still enjoyable in my opinion.
Oh and by the way MJW, thanks a lot, now I'm addicted to

yeah, add me to that list. It's pretty interesting, but I don't really love the search engine yet. I do like that it gives me an alternative to the evil empire formerly known as Google!

Yeah, me either, but it's pretty much the only way I get SB these days. I was doing the surveys for a while but not so much anymore.
