I enjoy Don Bluth's ladies too, of course (thinking Princess Daphne and Kimberly). I'm not really familiar with Masakazu Katsura, but doing a quick search of his work, I really like most of it. Still focus on the cute girls aspect, I do like what I've seen of Chris Sanders' work from his D.A. gallery, even if Nani didn't do much for me in Lilo and Stitch (love it in general though, ha). I LIKE Campbell's art, but again, this gets into a style more in line with what is currently the big thing in comics and has been for a long time now, which is less to my tastes, but his probably catches my eye the most in that style...
Funny you say that about Campbell and being more comic-ish considering his biggest influences comes from Disney artists such as Marc Davis and Freddie Moore.
He's my biggest influence as you would see if you look through my later half of my art thread.

That's probably why his is the comic booky style that still draws me in.
I'll take a look at that next time I'm online (finishing up my own latest comic strip right now).

Thanks everyone!
Shego is only Miss Go for the one episode; Kim has a great time hanging out with her, Ron actually misses the old Shego. She also dates Mr. Barkin in the episode.
As for Zimmerman, last I knew he didn't do commissions, but he used to sell a lot of his original, non-digital pieces at a particular auction site (look up "naughty bids" since I can't directly link it here); he'd have several drawings up at a time climbing up to maybe $50+ each. Not sure how much he posts now or if the demand has kept the prices the same, but he's still a pretty big name with a lot of fans so I imagine he's still selling. I think you need a credit card in order to register and search the site.
I became a big fan of Masakazu Katsura after reading Shadow Lady, you can read it all
here (I personally never cared for that particular cover but it gets better inside).

Did a new Rapunzel this morning . . . seems I still like fitting her in darker colors.

Aw, thank you!

I did this last night for the kitty I had to put to sleep at Christmas . . .
While I've lost many pets over the years, it was the first time I had to make the decision to euthanize an animal.

I used to throw Koji in with my avatar every so often and I wanted to do one last little tribute.
Interestingly enough I adopted him in the summer 2005, right when I finally got serious about drawing again (I've taken several long hiatuses over the years). I also think he helped me out of a slump after my dad passed away. Life is
so different now, and I'm glad I had him there to keep me company throughout all the big changes.

Engimawing, that drawing is amazing. And I'm sorry you had to put your cat down.

Thank you.

I guess there's something therapeutic about doing such pieces.
Now that I'm back home I did one for the baby I lost . . .
I'm hoping for a fresh start now. The doctors say we're free to try for another baby as soon as we like. I've still got my puppy so I'm gonna wait for a while before I adopt another cat.

All this new stuff is so gorgeous! In regards to your portraits, I just love how you make them seem to glow!
I'm glad you did a piece for the baby.

It seems a little grim, but my older sister actually took portraits with/of her baby since she was fully formed before she miscarried the first time (she really looked like a beautiful and healthy baby).

Those are beautiful tributes to your cat and your baby
I also love your avatar and signature
I wish I could draw half as well as you do. My drawing ability plateaued when I was ten

Thanks guys! I was afraid these were going to be too a grim of a subject myself (even the Koji piece) but they really helped me sort out my feelings as I worked on them. And I guess that's what drawing has really been all about for me, sorting out my feelings, no matter what I'm working on.
Anyway, I thought it was time to do something a little more uplifting . . .
Yeah, it's a tribute to Blind Melon from the early 90's, because I think we've all felt like the bee girl at one point. I still love that song and music video.

Enigmawing, I cannot say how gorgeous and ethereally lush and beautiful your portrait for your lost baby is. The detail, the way you chose to make those soft strokes of color different from your usual...that perfect classical angelic face. Wow. I'm really impressed I've never seen you do something like that before. It's actually like something otherwordly and spiritual, like seeing a soul, it's...amazing. I love that it's sleeping in the comfort of its own wings. Did you know if it was a girl or a boy?
I also really like your Rapunzel. I don't get the butterfly, but I think you drew her face and outfit really well. I think the wave in her hair looks just a little flat, like it could have more volume that it has in the film, I dunno, what do you think? I too wish the colors of her dress weren't so Eastery, you made it look better, but there's one thing I was wondering if you agreed with me on. It's a nitpick I think only artists would think on lol.
Okay, so most Disney princesses have a dark bodice with light colored skirt and sleeves, ever notice that? Well, I thought Rapunzel would look better like that but I guess what was chosen is okay. But...okay this may sound weird but...do you think her dress would look better if the same darker purple of her skirt was the purple used on her sleeves? Some clipart has done that and I always think it looks better. I think it's weird that it's like Rapunzel goes from dark on the bottom to a gradual lightness all the way to her very light sleeves.

Disney Geek- Thanks! I'm strangley proud of that one for being a little different than my usual.

I can't believe the song is twenty years old now!

And it's such a shame that we lost Shannon Hoon way back then, especially after he wrote such uplifting lyrics to the song "Change."
Duster- Thank you! I do occasionally wander outside my usual toon artwork, but I don't post it very often. My old life drawing teacher used to tell me I captured the "spirit" of whomever I was drawing, and I hope I still do in some way.

Anyway, I wanted the baby piece to be soft, peaceful, and safe, and I tried to handle the whole image delicately. The baby wasn't far along enough to tell if it was a boy or girl, but Rey insisted that it was a girl for so long that I believe it was too. We even had a girl's name picked out (won't be posting it anywhere though).
I don't get the butterfly either.

But I wanted something magical and ethereal for Rapunzel to gaze at, and the lantern I initially planned on didn't seem to suit it. I remembered seeing butterflies on some of the merchandise and I thought it might be simple and pretty enough to work here. I actually held back on the volume of her hair a little, because I tend to make it a lot poofier than it should be. I dunno, maybe I should have let go a little more?
What I was most satisfied with here was how the overall colors turned out. And I do think you're right about the bodice, although it's something I'd never given much thought to before. Maybe because dark colors minimize and lighter colors emphasize, and having the darker colors in the right places works best with the figure.
I do believe that the execs meddled with her dress colors, keeping in mind the popularity of the princess line and the potential for selling costumes for little girls. I loved how some of the early production art had her in a green dress (would have been nice with her eyes and hair), but I imagine they were afraid little girls might see it as an "icky" color. I suppose it would also make sense to keep her colors light in contrast with Gothel's dress, but I do wish they hadn't gone so pastel.

I remember reading or hearing somewhere that the reason Rapunzel's dress was changed was because Tiana was already wearing green and God forbid two princesses wearing the same color.

Also, that the filmmakers didn't want Rapunzel to blend into the forest. I think the reason why they made her dress so bright was because of her upbeat and peppy character and that dark colors wouldn't suit her. In fact, you don't really see too many princesses in dark colors, do you?
Also, I probably should have mentioned it sooner, but great art! I love it!

Dragonlion- Thanks!

And yeah, God forbid they have two princesses wear the same color . . . they're gonna run out of colors one of these days.

Interesting regardless that they thought she's blend in with the forest.
I'd like to see more dark colors worn by the lead heroines, even if it would indicate a more serious personality (as opposed to the reasons a villain wears them). But speaking of dark colors . . .

Finished something new this morning:
Tiana, what have you done?

Thanks everyone!
After taking a long break, here's a new one I whipped up yesterday afternoon:
Aside from all the stuff I posted about in the leaving/returning thread, I've also been busy doing more coloring work for JKRcomix that I can't show (NSFW so I also can't link). But if you're into that sort of thing I can't be held responsible if you do an online search.
