Oh, yeah? Because, I'm telling you, we wouldn't be talking about this and this wouldn't be an issue for you if opportunists weren't using her to get themselves views on YouTube. It's an inconvenient truth worth acknowledging. Why the hell would I, for example, have a problem with her (and not them) over this? She still lives in the moment and speaks her mind. Her point anyway was that she was going to deliver a reliable performance to the crowd, who seem to have appreciated it (although, do they
ever shut up?- I could barely hear a word she said in the "Future Love" videos). It's you who chooses to see the subject of her "attack" as being less arrogant singers. But here's the joke, a little fame can go to anyone's head. Even the Britney's of the industry. Anyone.
(By the way, my use of "quotations" on attack was not me trying to say that you used the word)

I don't care who you are, you need to be respectful of others, especially those who have had only nice things to say about you. Humility goes a long way and I have more respect for a person like Britney who has never in her life talked smack about another artist.
Yeah, well, that's nice and everything. But there's being idealistic and being realistic. I believe that talent is more important. And if I may be so bold, Lady Gaga has demonstrated more in a shorter period of time than Britney has. As well as more ambition, bigger ideas, and... in addition to plastic controversy (which it's just as much the fault of the people who are easily riled up as it is someone like Gaga for just speaking her "future-tense"), she delivers genuine provocation. She makes people think. The only time I was legitimately wowed by something Britney did, in the creative sense, was the idea that she might have something to say with "Everytime" about suicide. Turned out, there was no big idea- it's just her in a bathtub and she accidentally falls in semi-unconscious. Ooops. The style of the song is more stirring than any concept her or her people came up with for it. It's coldly sweet.
rs_milo_whatever wrote:Also, how were the videos for Tik Tok or Baby One More Time gimmicks?
Ke$ha = "drunk party girl"
Britney = "not so innocent school-girl"
But, I didn't say videos exclusively.
rs_milo_whatever wrote:If you asked me Britney is a beloved artist because of her attitude and the kind of performer she once was. She was phenomenal, haven't seen anything better since she was on top.
Please don't take this the wrong way (that argument just begs for this kind of response), but... If you haven't seen better than Britney, you've had your eyes closed. And this is from someone who thinks Blackout was a smash- I really do have cause to like her enough to give her a break. She's a fantastic robot (as, I believe, her stints as one on SNL have proved; ...that
was her, wasn't it?). And let's not forget all the people who have said Britney never had any talent in singing. I don't usually listen to those people (especially since they say the same thing about Madonna and, even if that's true, I just don't care- her voice is a great fit for the songs whether she has any range or not), but my opinion isn't the only one I think is relevant here.
I've heard the Britney's one hell of a dancer argument before too, and I know how much people think dancing is an important part of a fully-formed pop act (all those years of boygroups have sadly pounded that into my head). But, just because she's had a larger group of fans than anyone to come after (although with Lady Gaga here and breaking records all over the place, that is now up for debate)... well, that's the argument of quantity equals quality. Oh, but I can see that's not what you're arguing. It's merely one of the inescapable facts that have forced us to actually pay attention when she shaved her head, got a reality show, mistreated her baby, and got in that famous pop-girl sandwich. This however, has nothing to do with Lady Gaga. At all. She's expressed how important singing is over all other forms of performing in interviews, therefore- what else would she say at a concert? I will give you this, though: everyone so far who have made claims about not lip-syncing have lived to be embarrassed (even if they pretend it can't touch them). Meanwhile, I say- screw dancing. I can dance myself, I don't need anyone to do it for me (in fact, that's one of the reasons why I haven't been very keen on Lady Gaga's 3 music videos prior to "Judas"- yay! Finally, a video where dancing takes up less than 1 minute in a 5+ minute production!). Besides, Madonna was there first and no one after her is ever going to come up with their own "Vogue."
Goliath wrote:@ Lazario: why is that, everytime you discuss Lady Gaga, you have to take a jab at me? Fine, I once said I think she's overrated, she can't sing and her songs suck. That's my opinion, you are free to disagree. I couldn't care less how much you like her. But can you please stop the fake drama? It's getting old really quick.
Sure, Goliath- we both know what this is all about, so I'll just summarize it for you:
It was your choice to respond even though what I said was rhetorical. Not happy with that- next time make a different one.
