This topic makes me hate everyone and "Tangled." And under normal circumstances, I actually like one of those two things.

Yeah, no offense, but Duster's posts are kind of redundant. And not to sound rude, but he's kind of sounding like a broken record.

That makes Tangled the 23rd largest-grossing animation title ever released. A South Korea opening is due this Thursday (Feb. 10).

Tangled opened No. 1 in Spain, grossing $5.6 million from 472 venues, while maintaining its first-place rank in its second U.K. stanza with $7.2 million from 434 sites – down just 11% from the opening weekend -- for a market cume of $17.1 million. Strong weekend openings in Sweden and Norway were also logged.

This abomination that spits in the face of Walt Disney's legacy is the most beloved Disney animated release since at least Lilo & Stitch (which did poorly outside of the US anyway). What the hell is this whole discussion about again? Oh, right we are now discussing the new term Disney changes....

Just a few quick notes:

Big One, I agree with almost everything you said. Not just about Duster, but also about Rapunzel, when compared to Princess and the Frog, and the relationship between Gothel and Rapunzel. It was really different from Frollo-Quasimodo or Tremaine-Cinderella.

SWillie and Disney's Divinity, I don't agree with you at all when it comes to Big One's posts. Maybe you took his posts a bit too personally or too seriously, but I can't say he has been behaving like an "asshole" or that he was "talking down" to anyone. Remember, the very same things were said about me when I made my first responses. Maybe you just have a problem with people who are outspoken? I don't think Big One was offending anyone.

Speak for yourself. I certainly don't think he's an "asshole". You're the one calling other members names. Big One didn't call anybody names. In fact, I feel you and Disney's Divinity are over-dramatizing things an awful lot. I was used to with Divinity (yet I was still disturbed by the high percentage of drama queen-ish behavior in his last reply to Big One), but I didn't know you were capable of it as well.

Explain to me how and when I treated Duster "unfairly". Back it up. Duster has accused me of being a "homophobe" simply because I didn't agree with him. He treats people who don't agree with him as idiots *all the time*. The fact that Divinity falsely claims Big One is treating him as an idiot, while leaving out the fact that Duster does this all the time, is extremely hypocritical. If one doesn't agree with Duster, he'll say: "you haven't read my reply carefully/ you just don't understand me" or something like that. It's patronizing; he's treating everybody like 5 year olds. Yes, 5 year olds, Divinity!

Whoa, you think so? I actually found the red border rather hideous, but hey, whatever floats your boat (out into the harbor to see the lanterns) *is shot*

Also, any of you who follow our favorite Tangled tumblr HYT---I saw the little Tangled snowglobe at the Disney store today! It was cute, but not quite worthy of $25, imho. I LOVED the musicbox rendition of I See the Light, though, and am hoping they make a bigger, nicer snowglobe soon!

I have a feeling that if we simply precede any word with "Disney", it'll instantly make it something more special than it normally is. At least for some people. Simply because it has the word "Disney" in front of it.

www.frs.nl (Rapunzel not listed yet) and www.bol.com ship abroad, but the sites seem to be in Dutch only.
Google translate perhaps?
Or anyone here from Holland who knows if they can be switched to English?
DVD and Blu-ray are Region 2/B though!

To DisneyJedi and Dragonlion: Glad I'm not only the one here who thinks Tangled and TP&TF are being held to two different standards.

Also, about the fact that Rapunzel's been in development for so long, it has also gone through multiple versions before they finally got to the one we got in the theater. They could've only started on that version a few years ago, giving it about the same development time as TP&TF. Besides, time doesn't dispute the fact that, like TP&TF, Tangled also borrows loads from the '90s. If you're going to criticize one for it, you have to criticize both.

To King_Louis: I agree that Tangled seems to be a "safe" movie, in the same way that TP&TF and the upcoming Winnie The Pooh are "safe" moves for Disney to make right now. And I agree that Rapunzel sometimes seems to bend back-and-forth in characterization to suit the story's needs, but I think, for the most part, she's a strong (well-developed, I mean) character. Also agree that TP&TF was better, but there's no denying that Tangled has been hugely successful, as you said. Regardless, I'm glad for Disney to have some success again, maybe it'll lead to more animated films in the future.

Anyway, no surprise there. But, of course, if anyone replied to you in the same manner, they would be a "drama queen." It's easy to label someone instead of actually listening to them. Good thing my goal in life isn't to make you like me (that would be hard though, with you up on that pedestal judging the rest of us).

I wasn't trying to "defend" DDuster's argument, but to divert the topic to something less sensitive, and something that actually had more to do with Tangled, but he only continued to respond to me the same way he would respond to DDuster. That's why I said he "only wants to talk down to everyone." Maybe that wasn't his intention, but that's all I got from his posts. So, why again is it okay for one poster to do it, but ohbigbad if DDuster does it?

Oh, and I love that picture you did of Rapunzel, enigmawing! Her dress actually looks kind of beautiful there, and you definitely caught the look of the hair. Love the background, too.

Big One wasn't doing that *at all*. I think SWillie and you are being overly sensitive. Say one thing about a movie/artist/whatever that you don't like, you immediately take it personally. (That's why you still think I'm an asshole, admit it. I criticised some of your musical tastes two years ago and you still haven't gotten over it.)

It did go OOP initially but then they got more on stock. It's rumoured that amazon.com will restock The Art of Tangled in mid-March to coincide with the DVD/Blu-ray release. We'll see.
