Hehehe, it is a funny picture. I think I'll make it my avatar! It's nice to show they are welcoming the Muppets, but why did they have to take the site down? I mean, can't they keep up the old site until they finish the new one in Fall?
I hope there's still hope for Disney Muppet DVDs. I really want to see Muppets at Disney World.

Man, I
love logging on and seeing that something new has been added to this post. The new, albeit temporary, home page is awesome and very exciting! I'm ok with the site being down for a while if it brings a new and better version with the Disney stamp on it.
"He's now the happiest frog on Earth."

Great avatar choice, Kram.

Just looking around at Muppet News Central and a link to their forum. It's kind of old news, but it hasn't been posted here yet. Now I am very excited for this new Muppet movie.

If you're too lazy to click the link...stuff that is interesting:
Actual press release
http://www.muppetcentral.com/news/2004/031604.shtml
~ it will definitely be based on the book and not the MGM musical. This means no familiar songs, silver slippers, both good witches, the four different appearances of the Wizard of Oz, and a bunch of other stuff the MGM film changed or deleted.
Rumors/News from unreliable source:
~ Filming begins in Septmember
~ May air in spring
~ Kermit will play the Scarecrow
~ Fozzie will play the Cowardly Lion
~ Gonzo will play the Tin Man
~ Pepe (the shrimp guy) will play Toto
~ Miss Piggy will play both the Wicked Witch and Glinda
~ Dorothy will be a human. RUMORS say it may be Natalie Portman. Personally, I think this is a good choice.

I love that Piggy may be playing both the good and bad witches. I think Rizzo would make an interesting Toto, lol.

An update from JHM:
There are a lot of cool pictures. Since I kind of live near NYC, I hope I can go up and see the newly renovated 5th Avenue Disney Store.

There is a new page for The Muppets Wizard of Oz, including pictures from the film, concept art, and cast quotes, at the Muppets website. Unfortunately, the Muppets site still takes FOREVER to load and then the relatively simple WoOz site takes forever to load as well. Still- very cool!

Wow, I guess me and Aaron are the only Muppets fans here...
Anyhow, I haven't been on Muppet Central in a long time and I went today and I saw they had the tv spot promo for the Muppet Wizard of Oz:
http://www.muppetcentral.com/news/2005/index.shtml
It's rather complicated to see it so read closely:
1) click on the link
2) You'll see a headline and picture. Next to it is text and a link "Download and Watch"
3) You'll get a window pop up that says File Download. If you want to save the clip, hit Save. If you just want to see it hit Open. If You don't know why this window popped up, hit Cancel.
4) After you hit open, you'll think something went wrong because the box disappears and nothing reappears. Be patient and eventuall a Window will pop up that looks like a My Computer window or something.
5) It should be called Oz_Promo[1].
6) Just click on the folder and click on the Windows Media File and enjoy.
If it doesn't seem to be working or you are too lazy to go through all of that, I'm sure it will air on TV...unless it already does?

I also found that muppets.com has some more updates including this odd tidbit that may be a bit off off-color for statler, waldorf and pepe.

I was at ABC.com today and saw a banner for The Muppet Wizard of Oz, which apparently airs May 20th. Did we already know the date? If so, I don't remember, but it seems like we would have. Anyways, I didn't see it in this thread.

I
LOVE the muppets so I like them belonging to Disney(even though I'm thinking of the possibilities Eisner is going to do!

). Anyways I can't wait for May 20th.

Wow-I love that cover art!
Hopefully this will be on par with Muppet Christmas Carol (which to this day remains my favourite Muppet outing).
I just wish the CD would just be the Oz soundtrack-I think it looks stupid to have it be called "Best of..." with a huge Oz logo and pics from only the Oz movie.
