I never said the trailer had a new transfer. I'll re-word and add to what I said to make it clearer:
Disneykid mentioned how the colours of the trailer differed from the DVD. I suggested that the 2004 transfer used for the trailer, seen at it's full HD resolution on a Blu-ray disc, could yield some differences in colour based on same-transfer DVD/Blu-ray comparisons I've seen for movies like Sleeping Beauty.
Comparing the caps from the trailer with the Masterpiece Edition DVD, I am noticing some minor differences in the clothes of the Hatter.

MPEG2 is notoriously bad for red - mostly down to
Chroma subsampling I believe. (See also
Here for other examples).
I guess when coming up with MPEG4 and other advanced codecs, this would be one of the issues to be addressed, resulting in better colour reproduction on the HD formats.

That could very well be the case since I noticed no other instances of color changes. It doesn't bother me either way, and I'm certainly not going to turn this into some sort of epic Beauty and the Beast travesty. I just find it interesting. I'll make and post comparisons sometime tomorrow.

I feel sorry for those who did, though, especially if you already have the previous release.
Don't, I'm very happy with the newest DVD and have no plains to buy this film on Blu Ray.

If that's an all new multi-part making-of doc the Blu-ray can't come soon enough.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
::enters:: Thank you, Albert. That really sounds quite lovely.
Okay, that seriously sounds flipping awesome and if nothing else is added to this release, I'll be satisfied. Interesting that they're not calling it Cine-Explore when it almost certainly is. The running time is too close to the film itself's to be a coincidence.
I wonder who they got to participate in this. As I've said before, Beaumont is a must, and it seems like Eric Goldberg and Pete Docter are big Alice fans as I hear them reference the film a lot in interviews. Heck, Zachary Levi adores this movie, so they could even throw him in there for some cross promotion.
So this feature should single-handedly cover the commentary track, behind-the-scenes footage, and artwork that I wanted. Throw in the song demos and radio broadcasts (I'll let the storyboard-to-film comparison go since that could be incorporated into Cine-Explore), and you've got yourself the definitive edition of this film in any home video format. Even without those, though, the 60th Anniversary Cine-Explore+Un-Anniversary featurette and deleted scene+the rest of the Masterpiece features = a very strong release that's better than most of the Platinums. As Veruca Salt would say, "Make time go faster!"

HOLD IT HOLD IT STOP THE TEA PARTY FUN (pun to real life may be implied in different category )!!!

yummy fly
I hate to put a damper on celebration parties espcially now that there is a release date for this on blu ray.....my only question is...if it's blu ray...why does amazon say this...i'm sure there is probably a logical explanation and if it's a mistake by amazon then please throw all the pink elephants we can handle in one post, but for me this seems odd...although the price is for sure a blu ray and it probably is a Bluray DVD combo but....I just don't want to get hyped up just to find out this is a repeat of the USA being snubbed out of Dumbo on blu ray this past 2010 even though it's coming now in USA 2011

Amazon almost ALWAYS posts new Blu-ray preorders as DVDs first for Disney films. It should change soon.

Sweet! It's definitely what I'll be asking for for my birthday (2/5). Through the Key Hole sounds like it'll be an exciting feature. And as long as the port over everything from the Un-Anniversary, Masterpiece and LaserDisc editions, this'll be the definitive Alice in Wonderland Blu-ray!

Wow, that's a lot sooner than I thought. That means we should be getting cover art and a press release very soon. The next couple of months are going to be awfully exciting...

Amazon's pretty notoriously bad about improperly listing DVD specs for BD specs like region codes and audio formats, too. They'll probably figure it all out in time for the next format.

Yeah, it's obviously the blu ray release. The price is BDish and I mean, they just released a DVD a few months ago. I'm super excited. Beast, Fantasia, Alice and Bambi all practically back-to-back-to-back! Disney is really making up for lost time.

I don't know....after Dumbo and Fantasia being moved around and changed so much even after official ads and dates from Disney, I don't trust anything until I see it on store shelves with my own two eyes.

Dumbo and Fantasia were never put up for preorder though. I think this is a good enough sign.

Ha, I actually considered putting him in, but then I figured that since: a) he's not from an Alice adaptation and b) there's a couple of other actual Hatters that deserve placement first that I couldn't find decent pics of, I decided to leave him out.
