Maybe Disney's keeping their powder dry, waiting to see how Tangled performs. We could have another Dumbo/Princess and the Frog situation...
It's a Diamond though, they have to do two a year.

The only Diamond we have in 2010 is Beauty and the Beast. I still don't buy that Fantasia is releasing in December.

Good point, although the trickle of bonus features coming from the BBFC would indicate Fantasia is indeed on the way.

They don't *have* to do anything, friend. They choose to release what they want, when they want. It's not like Congress passed a bill requiring Disney to release two animated blockbusters onto home video every Spring and Fall.

A trailer has been passed. It will just be a matter of time before we see it. I predict on the Beauty and the Beast Blu-Ray.

Kind of a "speak of the devil" situation isn't it

What has happened to Disney's marketing strategy?

I cannot understand what's going on with Disney these days! I am in England and before this year we always got the Platinum/Diamond editions a month later than the US release dates , however this year we got Dumbo in March , and yet you still haven't had a release for that classic movie is there a Dumbo release date?
We get Beauty and The Beast this Christmas and you get it next year what gives - why has Disney changed it's marketing strategy all of a sudden announcing titles then postponing them?

^ We get BatB in October of this year (and Fantasia/2000 in December). Unless you mean the 3D theatrical release?

Dumbo wasn't a Diamond Edition, so that might be why there's the discrepancy. Disney does need to get his stuff back together, though. I mean, we haven't seen any cover art for the Fantasia movies.

Dumbo has also been rumored to recieve a spring 2011 release here in the US. I'm not really sure about that anymore though since we're getting Alice, Tangled, and potentially Bambi around the same time.

Eh, we'll get Dumbo on Blu when the live action remake comes out.

Just thought I would post this, you know, for fun, but Wikipedia is saying that Selena Gomez will be singing Love is a Song for the Diamond Edition..... Yeah......
Keeping in mind this is Wikipedia, so I hope this is false. The platinum edition didnt have a crappy music video (to my knowledge), so why does the diamond edition?

Even if it were true, it's not fair. She already did a music video on
101 Dalmatians. Let some other teenybopper be allowed to butcher a classic!

Thank goodness for that.

I wonder if some folks at Disney really think that these bonus music videos "sweeten the deal" for the buyer? I mean, most people, besides the teen crowd who are actually fans of the artist, probably show indifference towards the video, and hardcore fans/collectors are kind of turned off by them, or so it seems.
I don't really care that they are on there, and don't usually go seeking them out, but I could see how someone trying to butcher a classic song would be grating!

Hardcore fans only make up a smaller percentage of the people that will buy the product. Kids love Disney movies, and parents will probably show them the music video of their favorite song from the movie by their favorite actor or artist that they are familiar with. Sure, most adult fans won't have much interest in it, but the younger crowd (not just teenagers..) will most likely enjoy it. And the younger crowd will take up a larger percentage of people to watch the films than hardcore fans.
It's not like it takes up much space on the Blu-ray disc, if you don't want to watch, simply don't (and I'm not directing this to you).
The artists nowadays aren't TRYING to butcher the song, by the way, but they do a fairly good job at doing so. XP
There have been some music videos on the Platinum Editions that I actually really like though, so... ehh. But personally (if this is even true), can't say I'm looking forward to the music video portion of the Bambi: Diamond Edition. But I doubt it. XP

The past songs that have been done are actually quite singalongable (Cruella de Vil, Kiss the Girl, Once Upon a Dream), but I think that Bambi's songs, while beautiful, are not that. They are just not catchy. I don't think I have ever heard someone sing Love is a Song or hum along to Little April showers.
I assumed that thats why there was no song on the Platinum edition, so it strikes me as odd that they decided to put one on the Diamond edition. The only reason that comes to mind is that they need things to take up space.

I hum
Little April Showers all the time!

It's my favorite song from
Bambi.
