But the bag of dust is essential! And without the Marky...well, I don't think you should even be allowed to talk about the classics on a forum like this. :P

What about the DVD itself? First of all, it should be a laserdisc, and the feature film should have been "re-mastered" using a kinetoscope process.... Then it would be perfect! :P

And we have to make sure to consult the archival materials. You know, coloring books, trading cards, and movie posters. Things that really contain the real style and colours of the film. Never mind asking the original artists, even if they're still around!

Aha! Here's what it was supposed to look like! That horribly tarnished version in the theaters right now is a LIE!!!!!

THAT should be the Blu-Ray/DVD/Laserdisc/VHS/Beta cover.

Not to mention the 16mm film reel release! That one's absolutely essential, you know!

I saw the cover and I think it looks okay. That is all I have to say.

The biggest problem (aside from the yellow border) is the whole "floating photoshopped characters" near the top of the packaging.

About the movie, I thought it was okay, a little better than some of the other DACs such as Pocahontas, but I really do not think it was the best DAC since The Lion King (Which I find slightly overrated). Some of the characters (Such as Ray) and songs just did not do it for me.

It was still enjoyable aside from it's minor flaws and I will be getting the Blu-Ray when it comes out though.

Now THERE'S a cover to be proud of.

^^^^^That's very cute, SpringHeelJack. Hope lurking Disney employees don't decide upon seeing it that there should be a spin-off TV show of the characters as stick figures. Little flash videos on the Disney site, on the other hand, would be fun to watch.

Everyone else's custom covers are wonderful too. LOL at '15 digtal copies for your friends'. Not sure what the bag of dust on Escapay's cover is suppose to do to the TV screen.

I've see the cover of that Little Golden Book before! *shudder*

You know, I looked through that book when I saw it in a department store. The style immediately made me think of Mary Blair, and I think that that's rather interesting. Does it work for TPatF? Not too well (outside of the "Almost There" sylization), it's a little too much "whimsy." But it is rather Blair-esque, which links it back to "classic Disney."

For what it's worth, I also think the Golden Book cover is kind of cute.

As I suspected, it has a nasty yellow border, like Wall-E's "3-disc", to distinct it from the single disc Blu-ray (the "3-disc" even comes with a slipcover, I'm guessing just like Wall-E, people who opt for the cheaper more economical version will be shafted and not get a slipcover). Adding to the cheapness of the cover, they have a quote claiming its the best movie since the Lion King, as if they're desperate to convince people to buy it. Either way, its a single disc Blu-ray with a quote on the cover, just like Bolt's release with the same movie 3 times, and I'm sure it skimps on extras too. I think I'll hold out until a collectors edition or something comes out, that treats this movie with respect. Right now, I'm tired of Disney releasing these barebones sets and feel they can get away with it because they give you an undesirable DVD and digital copy.

I agree about the latter you wrote.

As for "the best film since Lion King"; perhaps it seems desperate from Disney to hav such a quote, but that is something Disney would normally do. I still recall that "Hunchback" was promoted as "the best Disney film since Beauty and the Beast" (and I agree, cause I love "Hunchback").

But that's how marketing is.

The crown in the "O" looks like it's flipping the bird.

What is the matter with you?? I haven't complained about the cover.

And besides, it's not aloud to troll here!!
She was joking, DisneyFan.

I was talking about the fact that Mooky said that SHJ's cover's O's crown appeared to be "flipping the bird." Perhaps I should have quoted.

Perhaps you should. But I'm sorry if I overreacted
