I'm gone for a week and miss news like this? I think it's awesome. I'm very excited to see what will come out of this deal.

I have a sneaking suspicion that things will probably turn out somewhat like in this picture.

A speculative article about what movies Disney might make (an opinion piece):

Pixar has eyes on Ant-Man.
Well, that's just dandy isn't it? Another reason for me to hate Pixar.
Really, Ant-Man is hardly top of the list when people think of Marvel characters, so why does Pixar have to hi-jack Edger Wright's Antman Movie?
And, CGI? What? Comics are a drawn medium. Surely despite all the protests about Disney classics and handdrawn/CGI, people must agree the best format for a Marvel animated movie is drawn? Imagine a Thor movie filled with Jack Kirby inspired artwork and "kirby-tech"? Imagine an X-Statix movie filled with Allred inspired artwork (I'd love to see an Allred designed animated Doop!) or a Tomb of Dracula movie with Gene Colan inspired art (although, I'd admit that would be hard to animate).
That's what Disney should be doing if they want to "exploit" Marvel's portfolio - animated movies, handdrawn and sticking to the styling of the artist(s) most associated with the property. Don't say it can't be done - The Batman animated series had a wonderful episode called Legends of the Dark Knight which used sequences around Dick Sprang and Frank Miller's iconic comic book artwork.

I just read on another site that Warner Brothers is doing something with DC. Anyone have more details? Competition with Disney?

The only animated Marvel I wouldn't mind Disney making would be cartoons for Disney XD. Honestly, I don't want
The Hulk: The Movie being in the list of DACs. Or even Pixar movies. It just doesn't make sense to me (well, I mean, I understand $$$, but still...

) and I don't want my beloved Disney movies not being so beloved anymore. I really feel strongly about that. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but that's how I feel. *sigh*

I'm sure they wouldn't be Disney - no matter who made them. Disney owns ESPN, but its not Disney's ESPN. There's no point in tieing the Marvel name in with Disney's in my opinion. Pixar is slightly different, because even when Disney didn't own them, they were still labeled as Disney/Pixar films. In that respect, nothing has changed.

This is why WB and DC Comic will always be one step ahead of Marvel(and now Disney).

Umm as far as I know, the only thing DC and WB been doing is producing those DC comic animated movies. Which kick ass already.

Something interesting I found.:
http://www.homemediamagazine.com/legal- ... tion-17019
"A New York-based law firm Sept. 11 said it filed a class action lawsuit challenging the proposed $4 billion acquisition of Marvel Entertainment Inc. by The Walt Disney Co.
The suit, filed by the law firm Levi & Korsinsky LLP in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, claims Disney’s cash ($30 per share) and stock (0.745 Disney share per Marvel share) offer to Marvel shareholders is inadequate and below the intrinsic value of the Marvel brand.
Disney said it is offering Marvel stockholders $50 per share, which represents a 29% premium based on the $26.84 closing price of Disney’s stock the last business day (Aug. 28th) prior to the Sept. 1 announced deal.
Marvel, whose intellectual property spans about 5,000 characters, including major Hollywood movies featuring Iron Man, Spider-Man, The Hulk and X-Men, reported net income of $205 million on revenue of $676 million in fiscal 2008.
A Disney representative declined comment and a Marvel rep was not immediately available for comment."
And also:
http://news.toonzone.net/articles/31108 ... ar-sequels
"In the last week, rumors had circulated that Pixar was thinking of producing a feature based on the Marvel Ant-Man comics, a project that has been in development for the past several years, most recently with director and writer Edgar Wright on board. At a D23 press conference, Disney/Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter responded to those rumors: "I had met all the folks from Marvel a couple of times and they're terrific. The whole Ant-Man thing is just a rumor."

Will Shanghaî Disneyland be the first Disney theme park to have WDI Marvel super-heroes attractions ?
http://disneyandmore.blogspot.com/2009/ ... first.html
(via disneyreport.com)
Does anyone think that Disney would eventually sell the Marvel characters, or do you think they'll keep them, if not forever, at least for a really long time? I mean, if they make a whole Marvel area of a theme park (or more), then what about when and if they sell the Marvel characters? I mean, at least with Pixie Hollow, it'll always be Disney, even if people don't care about it much in a few years.
And, if you read the article: It doesn't make sense to me why people in China would know about Pixar and Marvel but not Disney movies...I mean, they can buy "cheap one dollar DVDs" of the Disney movies, too...?

Nice article! I can't wait for Disney to take over Marvel by New Year's Eve when the ball drops in Times Square. I love Marvel, I love Disney and I love both!

Marvel Studios' Maisel to Leave With Sale to Disney

Rich Ross, named chairman of Disney's film studios in October, will have oversight of Marvel's film studio.
Which makes sense, since he's in charge of the Disney film studio...
