Editor's Note 7/8: The full cancellation of World of Color performances Wednesday night can't be blamed on the afternoon earthquake for certain. Multiple buoys that help raise the show platform up to the waterline sprung leaks and filled with water at some point before the platform was raised Wednesday evening. The middle and left platforms weren't aligned properly when the underwater scissor lifts were commanded to lock the platforms in place, with the middle platform suffering the most damage as the two massive structures were wedged into each other at an angle causing stressed structural beams and damaged fountains. A full team of divers, engineers, and outside contractors have been brought in to assess just how bad the damage is before the repairs can begin, or even what the repairs need to be, and there's no word yet how long all that may take. - Al Lutz

The public is only invited to view live webcasts and participate online during all the stops of the tour at the “World of Color” Road Show website.
:? People aren't able to go to the places where they're showing it? I must be misunderstanding the quote! Or is it just saying that you can vote for the color each night...? Regardless, the show looks great!

When Color is canceled... again

I think that they need to have a firm set of rules to deal with guests after the cancelations, not give everyone a different answer...

I hope it doesn't eventually get shut down permanently. :(

Editor's Note 7/24: As summer rolls along, World of Color's popularity is growing by the week, DCA dinner sales are huge despite the weak economy, and Fastpasses are selling out earlier each day. With all that good news, Team Disney Anaheim is getting very close to entirely banishing the 6PM weekday closing times in the off-season that DCA has had for the past decade. Later this week TDA should give the final blessing to year-round 8PM weekday closing times in the off-season, beginning this September, with at least one World of Color show performed daily on weekdays at 8:15PM. The weekend hours at DCA this fall will offer at least a 10PM closing with multiple shows per night. In the meantime, TDA really needs to get the reservation agents at the 781-DINE line to stop telling callers that World of Color gets shut down completely after Labor Day and goes "seasonal", as nothing could be further from the truth. There's got to be a better way to phrase that. - Al Lutz

I love it! I do wonder, though, watching that video: how was the visibiity? Obviously the camera was closing-in on the screen, but for people watching from farther away, was it still easy to make out everything on the screen?

Was the World of Color show always designed to be ever-changing and add new movies in it? Will it ever add old movies and change more than just whatever new stuff comes out?

I think that most shows and parades at the Disney parks aim to spice things up from time to time. Naturally, the way that World of Color is designed would at the very least make it easier to slot in new sequences. As far as I'm aware, World of Color doesn't require any characters, sets or performers, so it should be easier to operate, and equally easier to change things around every so often (as opposed to something like Fantasmic, which would require new sets, new props etc). As to whether they'll add new parts for old films, I'm not sure, though I wouldn't rule it out; it'd be a decent way of promoting older films when they get prolific Blu-Ray/DVD releases.
