<center>Best Forum Post To Contain The Word "Paint"</center>

Image

Well, we're at the second fake award for the evening and it's focused on how we use the word "Paint" on the forums. I'm sure you're expecting every nominee to include something by Marky_198, but you'll be surprised! The word "Paint" was used by many other members and in a variety of ways in the past year! However, we have to limit the nominees...so here they are...

"Paint" by pap64 (click here for full post)
"It might not be edible, but I thought Disney paint was terrible when I first saw it."

"Paint" by Mark Arnold (click here for full post)
Hours of personal interviews by author Mark Arnold with the four owners of TTV as well as with voice artists Allen Swift (“Simon Bar Sinister”, “Tooter Turtle”) and Bradley Bolke (“Chumley the Walrus”) and with animators Frank Andrina of TV Spots and Roman Arambula of Gamma Productions help paint the picture of a story that has never before been completely or accurately told.

"Paint" by milojthatch (click here for full post)
"While your at it, never ever, EVER paint your house, alter your clothing or doodle on your backpack. You would be damaging the artist expression of the architect, clothing maker and backpack maker. "

"Paint" by SpringHeelJack (click here for full post)
"WAH?! Bwaa bwa wah wah wah wah aspect ratio waah! Bwa bwa wah wah bwa original colors wah. Bwa wah wah Microsoft Paint bwa wah wah! Wah wah bwa bwa bwah wah wah restoration bwah? Bwa wah wah bwa wah shinola!"

"Paint" by enigmawing (click here for full post)
"Maybe they should release versions completely done in MS Paint for those of us that don't feel satisfied with the restorations. Yay pixels! "

"Paint" by goofystitch (click here for full post)
"If episodes of "The Ink and Paint Club" and other various shows throughout the channel's history that recycled classic shorts had drawn viewership, don't you think they would still be on the air?"

"Paint" by Julian Carter (click here for full post)
"Back in the 16th century it was said nobody could surpass the achievements of Leonardo and Michelangelo. If anyone truly believed that then Raffaello would have bowed his head in shame and never touched a drop of paint (OMG who was he to challenge those two masters!!!?) and no artist since then would have ever taken up painting since s/he would be under the impression that they're not even fit to be a cool tattoo of a naked woman on Leonardo's nipple."

"Paint" by Marky_198
Too many nominations to list

It's time for the next unofficial/unauthorized/non-refundable Golden Mickey! And who else to present but Escapay!

<center>Unused Avatar of the Year</center>

Image

You're probably wondering what this award is all about. Well, essentially, when we make our avatars, sometimes we have some that we make but ultimately not use! Unbeknownst to the UD members but beknownst to us (and likely the US government), we have hacked into your computers and retrieved these unused avatars! Some of them are excellent and we're surprised you chose not to use them. In addition, we found some very interesting things on your computers. Amateur fan fiction, music videos edited with Final Cut Pro, digital pictures of certain members in compromising positions with a desk lamp. Don't worry, we didn't retrieve those, we just pointed and laughed and then collected the avatars.

So, here are the nominees.

It's time for yet another unofficial/unauthorized/non-refundable Golden Mickey! So we migiht as well sit down, relax, and welcome back Escapay!

<center>Stupidest Argument</center>

Image

Arguments. It's a regular occurrence here at the UltimateDisney.com Forum. It can turn nice threads into ugly ones, short threads into long diatribes for or against something, and make members who were once friends become mortal enemies. And some of these arguments are valid. After all, what is more important: the cover art or the content on the DVD? Who should have won the primaries: Hillary or Barack? Just how many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll Center of a Tootsie Pop?

So tonight, we celebrate arguments in the best way possible. We decide which one was the stupidest and not worth all the long posts, all the excessive quoting, and all the harsh insults thrown both ways and back again. Because while some of the arguments were enjoyable reads witih lots of valid points, a lot really just became a place for mudslinging and personal insults.

The arguments at UD were annoying like this:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4JvCc5sCrKs&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4JvCc5sCrKs&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

It keeps going and going, and sometimes you can't help but keep watching and waiting for the end, while sometimes you just give up and ignore it until it's calmed down.

Here are your nominees...

Blu-Ray or DVD
Image

Quite simply, there are two media formats. People choose which one they want to use. And yet for some very odd reason, if someone else doesn't want to use that format, it's grounds for an argument. All of a sudden, we get posters who say, "DUDE, BLU-RAY IS AWESOME! DVD CAN DIE AND STAY IN THE 20TH CENTURY!" and posters who'll retort "DUDE, BLU-RAY IS NOT ALL THAT, I'M FINE WITH MY DVD, STOP TRYING TO CONVERT ME YOU TECH FREAK!"

Thinly veiled insults are made towards each of the supporters, and the sides often ignore people who try to mediate and say, "Guys, both formats are fine, pick whichever you prefer and be happy you have it." All of a sudden, a Disney fan isn't a Disney fan because they don't want to watch Pinocchio in hi-def. Or a Blu-Ray enthusiast is branded a tech freak who's obsessively pushing for a format because they can afford it, and think those who don't have it can't afford it. It's simply a matter of personal preference. A person is not obligated to get the latest in technology in order to keep up with the Joneses.

If you support Blu-Ray, fine. Don't insult those who choose not to. If you support DVD, fine. Don't insult those who have given it up.

It's stupid.

Disney Restorations
Image

This needs little explanation, and I'm sorry, but my little blurb here is biased.

The restoration team at Disney are professionals who work on restoration with far more resources in the archives, far more techniques and equipment, far more options, and far more sources to say "That's right, that's wrong".

Disney fans (at least the most dedicated ones here) have old VHS and laserdisc sources, mass-produced books and publicity materials, images of animation cels culled from the internet rather than viewed in person, and nostalgic memories.

So really, there should be no contest as who would win an argument.

And yet...pages and pages upon pages are written at the forums that repeat the same thing, bring nothing new, and really just amount to personal preference (once again) being misconstrued for fact.

If you are pro-Disney-Restoration, shut up. If you are anti-Disney-Restoration, shut up.

It's stupid.

To Matte or Not To Matte
Image

There's so many sides to this argument that like the last two arguments, it's all just a matter of personal preference. If you want Unmatted, hurray. If you want Matted, yahoo.

It's stupid.

Traditional Animation vs. Computer Animation
Image

Personal Preference. If you like one, good for you. If you like the other, good for you too. Just stop trying to belittle the other side and feeling superior.

It's stupid.

Walt Era vs. Post-Walt Era
Image

Personal Preference. He made good movies, shows, shorts, and theme park stuff. And a lot of good movies, shows, shorts, and theme park stuff came afterwards. Can't we all just enjoy what we enjoy without having to say "ours was better than yours!" in such snide tones?

It's stupid.

You should have added the "OH NOES Disney Channel/High School Musical/Hannah Montana/Chihuahuas/Pixar is ruining Disney!" arguments, Scaps. This is just as stupid as the ones you posted since in my honest opinions, Disney will remain Disney even if they milk the Hannah cow dry.

Posted: Sun Aug 23, 2009 1:38 am
by Escapay
I considered that, but felt it seemed more an extension of the "Walt Era vs. Post-Walt" argument. Though I agree, Disney is Disney no matter what kind of franchise they're milking at the moment. It's the people's conceptions of Disney that changes (or stays the same).

My brother actually counted that once on a bus ride many years ago, but the number has been lost to the ages. :p

Oh, and somehow I knew nothing stood a chance again the Blu-Ray vs. DVD argument. I'm thinking about buying my first Blu-Ray disc soon and am wondering just how life-altering the experience will be . . .

Why did I get this feeling that the restoration argument would win? It seems just as much a go-nowhere situation as the BD vs. DVD one.

Any word on this yet, Aaron? It's been two months... just wondering if we'll get the results before next years nominations...

Yeah...I am beginning to worry more about Aaron than I am the awards....you don't think he's possibly retiring from the site? I hope thats not the case.....I hope he's okay :(

Hey scaps, why no new unofficial awards?

Aaron's taken to having long times without posting in the past (due to school), so that may be a factor in why the UD Awards are not yet up and running.

If Aaron's reading this, I'd be willing to post the UD Awards Ceremony for you if you don't have the time. :)

But anyway, whilst we wait for the real UD Awards to start, let's have another fake award! It's one more unofficial/unauthorized/non-refundable Golden Mickey! And as usual, I'm presenting because no one else has bothered to make up their own awards!

<center>Pillow of the Year</center>

Image

Like the Towel of the Year, pillows are very important in our lives, though few of us realize this or appreciate them. Pillows make falling asleep more pleasant. And when used in a fight, can turn any slumber party into a sexy orgy. They also can be a bit dangerous if in the wrong hands, as death by smothering has been a plot point in several soap operas, primetime crime dramas, and films. And sometimes, they seem to have no purpose at all, like throw pillows for a sofa. Why, a well-known writer the UK has this to say about throw pillows (or cushions):

<center><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Lp0-8Ibkczc&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Lp0-8Ibkczc&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object></center>

Nevertheless, it doesn't matter what Steven Taylor thinks, as here at the unofficial awards, we care about pillows and cushions! So here are the nominees for Pillow of the Year...

Pillow Fights
What would "Pillow of the Year" be without pillow fights? And what better way to celebrate Pillow Fights than with the Beatles? :D

Image

Mickey Mouse Pillow
This is a Disney board, so it's expected to have at least one Disney nominee. So here it is.

Image

iPod Pillow
What will they think of next?

Image

Pillow Talk
Okay, it's not a real pillow. But it's a rare genre, "movies with the word 'pillow' in it."

Image

The Tempur-Pedic Pillow
Perhaps the most famous pillow of all. I wants one.
