i know there have been many who have been worried that they cancel the WDT series since Dick Cook is no longer with the company, however i just finished listening to an online interview with Jerry Beck and he stated that Leonard Maltin told him that the series will continue. there is no confirmation on what the next batch will include yet, which is understandable seeing that its still early. he did say that Leonard is expressing interest in having a volume based on Donald Duck in Disneyland episodes recall correctly. but that one will not be in the next batch because they need to be restored first and there will not be enough time to get them on time seeing that they haven't started restoring those particular episodes yet.

Well, at least we now know the series will continue... :)

A few years ago, Leonard Maltin expressed to me in an email that his dream Treasure to do would be a Disney in 3d.

It hasn't happened yet, and I think since that time, the Treasures have become more turnkey, and less his baby.

So, you never know.

That's a real shame. His enthusiasm about the Treasures series is one of it's best assets. I know he really championed for the Annette set; let's hope a 3D tin is eventually made as well. :)

Also glad to hear its looking good for more waves of TREASURES. I would imagine as long as D23 is around to trigger nostalgia this seies will be pretty safe for more releases into the future.

The complete 20th Century Fox-produced Daniel Boone series that starred Fess Parker and aired on NBC is available in season sets on DVD, but the Disney-produced series for the anthology show that starred Dewey Martin is, to my knowledge, not available on DVD.

Darby wrote:On the live-action front, and in light of Disney's willingness to release more than 2-disc sets, I would love to see these Disneyland series released as Treasures:

1. Finish both the Swamp Fox and Elfego Barca (I love both series, but the completist in me has refused to buy the Legendary Heroes set...so far)
2. The Tales of Texas John Slaughter
3. The Saga of Andy Burnett
4. Daniel Boone
5. The New Adventures of Davy Crockett
6. Zorro and Son (not a great series I know, but that's the Zorro completist in me talking)

Of course, let me add my voice to the chorus of those who would love to see The Prince and The Pauper released as a Treasures set too.

Darby
EXCELLENT LIST!! (I just had to put that remark in all caps!!

I'd also add:
- additional 2 Spin and Marty serials
- Corky and the White Shadow
- 2nd Hardy Boys serial
- Adventures in Dairyland
- Clint and Mac
- Gallagher

Please, Disney, release the balance of The Swamp Fox and El Fego Baca!

I agree with you Darby, Disney should Re-Release Swamp Fox/Elfego Baca in complete seasons.

I'd also go for complete seasons of

The Tales of Texas John Slaughter

The Saga of Andy Burnett

Gallagher

um what's Zorro and Son? a sequel to the Disney Zorro? and does it have Guy Willaims and other cast members from the orignal?

Mason:

Zorro and Son was a sitcom that Disney produced which ran for 5 episodes on CBS in April and May of 1983. None of the original cast members participated in the sequel series.

Here is link to Bill Cotter's webpage on the series:

Yeah, compile the remaining animated shorts (the post-Walt ones included) into one set and be done with it!!!

They're not done...

Buried in the archives are the Oscar-winning PEOPLE AND PLACES films. Sure I'd love another series of shorts (Dad Can I Borrow The Car, It's Tough to be a Bird etc.). But that all pales next to the truly rare PEOPLE AND PLACES series.

That's what the Disney Treasure line is all about. That's what the next wave should include.

Gallegher!

Plus another vote for People and Places. I loved the Disneyland short.

Look what I found! Zorro and Son!

I remember enjoying this show as a kid, for as long as it lasted. Didn't remember much of it though, but I thought I remembered it as a comedy. That aspect of it is kind of disappointing to me now, especially with a laugh track included, but it's cool to see again. Would have been neat if it had the original stars and was not so much of a sitcom. I would still snag it if it ever got a DVD release, ha.

For sure. While there is still a lot of stuff left that I really want (MMC Serials, Legendary Heroes, Animation) this ranks at or near the top. Honestly, I would have liked this to be a continuation of the True Life Adventure series in the same packaging. That would have been sweet.

I agree. People and Places should have been a continuation of the True Life Adventures series. Although it could fit in the treasures series fine there are many other titles (including the ones you mentioned) I would much rather have in the next wave.

Just curious, how much of People and Places is there? Enough to fill two DVDs or more?

Ok, looking at this list:
http://www.avgeeks.com/2006/11/disney-p ... es-series/

There's probably 3 DVDs worth of People and Places content. And we already got the Disneyland, USA one on the Disneyland: Secrets, Stories and Magic WDT set.

It's definitely an interesting series, and one that could've been continued to cover other cultures around the world.

THE PEOPLE AND PLACES FILMS (according to Maltin's The Disney Films).

1953 - The Alaskan Eskimo (Academy Award Winner)
1954 - Siam (Academy Award Nominee)
1955 - Arizona Sheepdog
1955 - Switzerland (Academy Award Nominee)
1955 - Men Against the Arctic (Acadey Award Winner)
1956 - Sardinia
1956 - Disneyland USA
1956 - Samoa (Academy Award Nominee)
1957 - Blue Men of Morocco
1957 - Lapland
1957 - Portugal (Academy Award Nominee)
1958 - Wales
1958 - Scotland
1958 - Ama Girls (Academy Award Nominee)
1958 - Seven Cities of Antartica
1959 - Cruise of the Eagle
1960 - Japan
1960 - The Danube

I love Gallgher and John Slaughter and the rest of the TV product, but we're talking about a series with 7 Oscar nominations and two wins. These need to come to the Treasures Line. They are priority #1
