Looks like this has been moved up to November 2nd instead of November 16th, mainly to avoid Twilight competition.

Just thought I'd pop in to say that Lee Unkrich denies that Boo is in Toy Story 3 in his formspring he has set up for questions he answers.

That'll be precisely 11 years to the point the first Monsters, Inc came out! What a coincidence.

I really wish PIXAR would not try to repeat the mistakes of Disney and make sequels. If they were coming out with other movies, I wouldn't mind. But all the movies besides Brave are sequels. I especially wish they wouldn't make a Monsters Inc. 2, I think the ending of that movie was great. :(

I would like to see an Incredibles 2 though, I mean it was begging for a sequel at the end of the movie with the Underminer as the villain. 8)

Toy Story 2 also ended on an uncertain note. The key to making an unplanned sequel to a movie successfully is to make it seem like it was planned all along. They did this with toy story 3, I think it can be done with monsters inc.

Very clearly Stinky Pete stated there would be a sequel, so I don't know what you're talking about! ;)

According to the French forum Disney Central Plaza, the new installment of Monsters Inc. will be a prequel. An official short synopsis of the film was included in Disney's upcoming movie line-up issued to theater operators.
A prequel to the first film, Monsters, Inc. 2 will reveal how Mike and Sully met on the benches of the school at the University of Fear, and how from rivals they eventually became friends.

That actually sounds great, and it solves the "OMGZ, I don't want to see Boo older!" sentiment that some people have...

Perhaps the prequel will be in the form of flashbacks and we will get to see Boo after all, who knows? Otherwise that cameo of an older Boo in Toy Story 3, wouldn't make much sense.

I think a prequel is an interesting idea. At least this way it won't seem like Pixar is doing too many sequels.

Yes, it does.

I have to say that a prequel sounds great. I hate that they always have to attach a 2 even when it's before the original. So annoying. Why not just give it a subtitle?

A prequel sounds like a good way to do it...

MONSTERS, INC. 2 to Be a Prequel?
File this one in the rumor pile for now, but the upcoming sequel to Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. might actually be a prequel. Disney Central Plaza [via Stitch Kingdom] is reporting that a Disney film catalog has a brief plot synopsis for the film.

You know, that sounds a little better. I wasn't really expecting that news. If you're listening Pixar, stay with that plot, it's perfect. :)

According to the French sites Disney Central Plaza and The Art of Disney Animation, Monsters Inc. 2 will be a prequel:
Translated text: A prequel to the first film, Monsters, Inc. 2 will reveal how Bob and Sully met on the benches of the school at the University of Fear, and how from rivals they eventually became friends.

Who's Bob? :?

I read that somewhere that Lee Unkrich denied that it was Boo in the daycare. I think it was on his Twitter.

And is Bob what they called Mike in France?

Yes, I believe they call Mike Bob in France. They do have some rather bizarre names for some characters.

Yay! The idea of a monster school sounds great, and I really can't wait to see how they do that. Of course, I do hope they change the title... It can't be "2" if it comes first. I think they'd be better of calling it Monsters U or something like that. Reminiscent of "Monsters, Inc." but more appropriate for the setting. I feel much better about this project, now that it seems like it will be a prequel. Monsters, Inc. doesn't need a sequel, but I think it actually could use a bit of a prequel.

Also... Bob, LOL! rotfl

That's exactly what I thought. May be a subtitle.
Monsters Inc:
-The College Years
-Grrraduation
-Back Where it Came From

I really like that last one :D
