I'm all for keeping an open mind before seeing a film, but that trailer was just abysmal.

You shouldn't judge films based on trailers, though.
My reasons for not wanting to see the film is more because I find Zemeckis' Uncanny Valleys to be very un-comfortable rather than how the trailers are edited. And after James Cameron managed to use motion-capture in a way that created realistic-looking creatures, the Zemeckis zombies look even worse by comparison.

I think Disney is sabotaging this movie's release. They know they have a turkey and they're just showing us how bad it is now so we won't bother to go.

Ouch! We want ALL our movies to do well. I still maintain that this will be good family movie, and moms especially will like the message that it gives. What do you think we should show (or not show) to make you feel better about the movie?

Wow, I am starting hate this movie judging from the trailer and aside from the animation. Why Disney? Why is the company going downhill again?

The best trolling would be if Disney includes this into the canon classic line up(ala Dinosaur). LOL

I agree that judging a film based on a trailer is never a good thing. But, the jokes just weren't funny and and I'd rather listen to a KidzBop cover of Coheed and Cambria before hearing that song again. Who knows? Maybe it isn't bad, but I have a bad feeling about it.

Honestly? I'm sure the film has a good, positive message for kids and may even be entertaining. But the character designs and the film itself is just . . . I dunno, ugly. I don't have anything personal against motion capture, but when they try too hard to make an animated film look real the characters lose their appeal. And the overall look of the film . . . why should I even like these characters or care about their world if I don't find anything appealing or even remotely interesting to explore in it?
I was drawn into Toy Story, Cars, and even Chicken Little based on the look and feel alone. But this? Sorry, no thanks. Maybe when it hits Netflix.

You could make some witty/funny viral videos the way you did with 'Tangled'. Just a suggestion.

Though I will say I will see it in theaters but not in 3D due to 3D being too far to drive to for every movie that has it.....but i'm not at this point wanting this to be Disney's 51st DAC mainly because of the Mo-Cap; if this was animated like CGI meet the Robinsons or just CGI all the way through...then I think I would possibly like it better or be more welcome to the movie...if it's added to the DAC they should throw in A Christmas Carol while they are at since it was Mo-Cap as well...

I think you should stop trying to advertise your movie on this board, to be honest. You should've looked over the rules before you posted here.

Why does this bother you so much
Big One? If this were a problem a moderator would have dealt with this by now. I think it's kinda cool that a rep from Walt Disney Pictures is bothered with our little forum even if it's just to promote their movies. Instead of us just going to their websites, facebook & twitter pages etc, they actually take the time to come and post here. It's sort of a recognition that we are a significant online Disney community. I haven't seen this happening in any other Disney forums.

There's thousands of Disney reps, he isn't here to verify the acceptance of this board, he's here to advertise Disney products. For him to whine about people trashing the movie is going over needed boundaries, and his whole existence on the board is already against the rules anyway.

They did not really whine about it. They were quit polite in defending the movie and responding to us trashing it and actually asked about our opinion in what we would like to see in the future promotion for this movie. It's better than simply ignoring us and not interacting with us at all.

I can understand your cynicism, but I wouldn't let WDP offend you that much. He/she is trying to act as a liason between fans and the company; it at least shows a tiny bit of effort to respect the fans, and it's not as though they're going to set ninjas on any dissenters. Plus, WDP is at least being civil. I'm not sure if you know already, but there is/was a member (whose name I won't mention) who would snap at anyone who complained about current Disney, often resorting to personal remarks (such as calling Goliath one of the meanest members simply for not liking something, claiming Kelvin/Renata had no right to review certain titles). That behaviour was zealous and fundamentalist, and worthy of condemnation, but WDP's isn't really.
Personally, though, I'm still not interested in this movie. The best thing would be if they used mocap just for the aliens, and not for the humans. Sure, it'd draw instant comparisons to
Avatar, but mocap people still look pretty sterile. Mocap works well as a means of realising otherwise imaginary characters (such as with the Na'vi, Davy Jones etc), but standard humans (as in the Zemeckis films) don't. It's that practice that gives mocap such a bad rep in the first place. And though I ultimately doubt it, I don't want it to be put in the Disney animated features canon.

uh, stop making/distributing Motion Capture films? They creep people out. Just ask your animators how they feel about MoCap. It's insulting to animation as a art form.
