I have already pre-ordered this game for my son. He's going to be thrilled - he's a huge Kingdom Hearts fan, but is looking for something new.

Can't wait to hear more news and a release date...

If you ask me, this (or anything else involving Mickey and the gang) should have been Disney's next hand-drawn feature instead of yet another Pooh movie.

This wasn't Disney's idea but Warren Specter's, who is a game developer that made a couple of very popular PC games. So this game is in good hands and should be awesome. :D

Who knew that Oswald would return not in a Disney movie, but a Disney video game?

Epic Mickey is coming to Nintendo Wii on September 16th 2010. The game was also known as "Super Secretâ„¢ Warren Spector Game Project" because it was being created by the relatively famous developer Warren Spector has worked on titles in some well known series such as Ultima, Deus Ex and Thief.

Epic Mickey was originally being developed for PC, PS3 and 360. with only a Wii port planned However Disney suggested they focus on producing a game for the Nintendo Wii only and the other platforms were scrapped.

Epic Mickey is primarily a platforming game with some RPG elements and allows you to take a moral stance in the world as either good or bad. The game features special paint that allows Mickey to paint objects in the world - like a bridge, or destroy obstacles using thinner.
I don't know who no one has posted this yet, but they game finally has an official release date: September 16, 2010.

I don't know if this is a good thing or not. :| I wanted it to be Wii exclusive.

Why? :? I would only be able to buy a PS3 version--why should Wii-owners be the only people who get to play it?

I agree with IagoZazu...I wanted this to be a Wii exclusive. Don't get me wrong I love all three consoles and play them all, but PS3 and 360 have their own list of exclusives so why not the Wii. Yah the wii has exclusives but those mainly include the Mario series and Wii "fill in the blank", whether that be fit, play, sports resort, etc... The wii doesn't have many epic action games, and I'm not saying this will be one, but who knows. Also by 360 and PS3 fanboys, this will probably be seen as a "child's" game. It's sad but true. Hopefully it will have the same success Kingdom Hearts had with the PS2.

See, you're thinking about Wii the platform making more money. I'm thinking of Disney and Epic Mickey making more money--and of course you make at least some more money when you don't exclude your game to one console.

It concerns me because multi-platform games tend to underperform. I'm not saying that those that only have a 360 or a PS3 shouldn't get it, but this undermines the 3rd party lineup of games for the Wii this year. It would be bad if one of the best 3rd party games to succeed on the Wii is turned into a multi-plat. Usually 3rd parties are lackluster in their Wii games, but Warren Spector and Disney could have changed that.

Bababloo, I don't think most 360 and PS3 fanboys will see this as a child's game since this is still a darker take on Disney. There will be some that will get it because it's Disney. This was likely an idea of Disney's to make more money by appealing to the other consoles.

I want to hear what Warren Spector has to say about this.

I wasn't thinking of anyone making more money; both Disney and Nintendo have money to swim in it, and I don't think they need more. I just think there's just not enough Wii original exclusives anymore. They've all been done before and it's all just continuations of older franchises. And I do see PS3/360 fans seeing this as a kids game. I'm not saying the graphics are horrible, but they're not great. Because it was for the wii, there's an excuse. Nintendo doesn't strive for amazing graphics but rather good games, enjoyable, and good stories. People will be seeing this as a stepdown in graphics for the two other consoles. I, for one am really excited for this game, and I don't care for what consoles it comes out on. If making it a multi-platform game will increase its popularity, fine by me. I just don't think we'll see huge crowds of 360/PS3 players buying this. Don't get me wrong, I'd like them to.

Or....if they were to release it on multi platforms....have a few exclusive things to each....Like the Wii could have something you won't find such or on your Xbox 360 version or the ps3 will have something the wii won't like similair to how the Star Wars teh Force Unleashed had its game released...although eys I know star wars is a differ story compared to Mickey mouse but who knows...I would like it on teh PS3 and the Wii but I'd get it on the PS3 first....if it was available on the PS3...

I just wish they could still make it for the PS2... :( Because that's all I have.

Disney says they want to take Epic Mickey to Nintendo levels.

Also there's something in the article that caught my attention.

Hopper says if they port a film to five different gaming platforms, customers should expect "not the same story five times over, but five different stories, each uniquely suited for the platform they're on."

Does that mean that if Epic Mickey goes multiplat that there will be a different story for each version like one plot on the Wii and another on the 360 and PS3?

Again, I wish Warren Spector had a say about all this.

I missed E3 because I was away at Walt Disney World so I was pumped when I saw the Epic Mickey trailer at the conference on Youtube. It looks a whole lot better now, and it has a lot of a potential.
