Yes, among many people around him, I think that's true. I never said "all," did I? That was your inference only.

This is not a fair assessment at all. He was asked how he wants to be remembered, not how he actually sees himself. Its a goal, one I'm sure many artists share.Sotiris wrote:He actually believes he is one of the best composers, and songwriters, and singers of all time. This man is so full of himself, he's become completely delusional!
Source: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/race/ ... er-1243362"I want to be remembered as one of the best film scorers," Randy Newman says as we sit down at his home studio, beside the piano on which he creates much of his work. "It's going to be hard to give me that because so many of [the films are] animated, which [many] don't take seriously, but which is harder to do than anything, almost. And [also], one of the best of the singer-songwriters," he adds, in the most recent episode of The Hollywood Reporter's 'Awards Chatter' podcast. "To be in the highest rank there would be good. That'd make me happy — down in hell, or wherever I'm gonna go!"
No one is going to outright say "I am the best!" because they know that's seen as arrogant and will be criticized for saying so. "I want to be remembered as the best" is an indirect way of expressing just that. It means they truly see themselves as the best and hunger for the recognition. And being as bold as to verbalize that belief in public indicates a complete lack of humility and an inflated sense of self-importance.farerb wrote:Sotiris - all I saw was the words "want to" rather than "am". I think every artist wants to be remembered as a good artist, don't see anything wrong with that, but maybe I'm missing something.
