I have heard this premise for a live action movie:
Macbeth is king on Castle Wyvern. His daughter is Princess Katherine. Magus is his adviser. Demona and the Captain of the Guard hatch their plan. The Vikings attack, kill the gargoyles (save Goliath, Hudson, Bronx, and the Trio). The remaining gargoyles attack the Vikings (pretty much how Awakenings go), however once they are turned to stone by Magus. Demona returns and for some reason (I forgot why, maybe Macbeth was mortally wounded or wanted revenge, whatever), but the Wyrd Sisters do their thing and merge them. Later Macbeth discovers Demona is the reason for the whole attack in the first place and he wants revenge on her.
Jump to present day, Xanatos raises the castle above the clouds, the gargoyles live again, they make friends with Elisa, fight Xanatos, fight Macbeth, right Demona. Goliath and his clan win.
It was a way to tie in two major story arches into one movie.

Heads up for Gargoyles fans!
The Electric Tiki figure is available for pre-order with the price tag $199.99!
http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=448 ... search0109
The price is a bit too hefty for me, but it's a neat sculpture, anyway. Hope a Gargoyles series of figurines continues, though!

So here's the bad news...
As some of you may have guessed, I contacted Boom (with an assist from Peter David) at Comic-Con last summer. They were interested in publishing a Gargoyles comic book and subsequently submitted an offer to Disney for the license.
Disney did not and has not responded. Let me be clear: they didn't respond positively; they didn't respond negatively; according to Boom, they simply didn't respond to the offer at all.
This weekend, Boom informed me that given what Disney is doing with some of their other properties (I'm thinking the Pixar ones, but I can't be sure), i.e. taking them back and giving them to the now Disney-owned Marvel to publish, Boom no longer feels it makes good business sense to pursue Disney licenses. They feel that the best case scenario is that they get the license, use their resources to make the book a success - and then Disney takes it back when the license expires and gives it to Marvel.
So Boom has informed me that they are no longer interested in pursuing the Gargoyles license. Again, let me be clear: I don't blame them in the least. I appreciate their initial interest, but business is business, and this just flat-out does not make sense for Boom at this time.
So where does that leave us? Marvel, of course. I've contacted the ONE guy I know at Marvel to get his advice on how to proceed. Other interested folks are looking into other avenues with Marvel. So we'll see...
And, as always, I promise to keep you posted right here at ASK GREG...
It's not bad enough news to get upset over (I mean, Boom's decision makes a lot of sense), but, it's disappointing. Let's hope Marvel is able to do something with the property.
I'd really love to see Disney get off their keisters and realize the potential goldmine they're sitting on with Gargoyles. Oh well.
On the bright side, you haven't heard anything about that non-Gargoyles Gargoyles movie in awhile, have ya?

It's just a real shame about Boom! stopping with new Disney properties from here on out. I swear if Marvel doesn't finish the huge storyline Boom had going in Incredibles...

UmbrellaFish => What's the exact source of this message? I searched on "Ask Greg" but could not find it.
Anyway, at least we now know the *real* reason why Boom officially declined to get the TaleSpin licence
http://forums.boom-studios.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2509
Once again, Disney just destroyed all hour hopes of getting TaleSpin revived. I will NEVER understand why Disney never put any effort in their best TV animated series, while they do so much for their animated films...
Here, I'm not sure what the fact Disney didn't answer to Boom on giving the licence means : either Disney doesn't care at all (which is very likely), or on the contrary, they want to keep the licence to themselves so as to release comics of their own (which is very unlikely)

It's... disappeared? I looked in the comment room, and a few people noticed it but there's no explanation as to why it was taken off.
Very odd.

I would guess this is either Disney, Boom Studios, or more probable, Greg himself who asked to remove it...
As for the reason...They don't want us to spread the word and know the truth? (which, as Greg said, makes perfect sense from a business point of view, but sure is a real disappointment for fans...)

I just want Disney to come to their senses and finish releasing Gargoyles. Its just evil to release two sets and then never finish it when you only had like 2 more to go.

Folks over at
Station Eight are receiving emails from the Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment Consumer Relations department that:
There are tentative plans to release the rest of this series in 2012. No further details are available at this time.
Hmmm... Perhaps through the Vault Disney DVD-R's?

I called them about it and they said no but I think they were just looking at what's available this month. How did you get them to tell you this? If this is true it would be beyond amazing. I also think maybe after June 11th Disney Movie Rewards might have a picture of it by then similar to Goof Troop since on June 11th is when a bunch of movies come out and maybe

I can't personally confirm it, but it's all over Garg fan communities. Also, Aviator posted the original source in the Disney Movie Club forum.

The Gathering of the Gargoyles is back!
Greg Weisman wrote:Rambled on Sat, July 06, 2013
I was waiting until CONvergence was over on Sunday to announce this, but it seems they've already made the announcement here:
https://twitter.com/GargoylesNews/statu ... 74/photo/1
Next summer, one of my favorite conventions, CONVERGENCE in Minneapolis, will be dedicating their annual convention to the theme of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". And a major part of that theme will be the celebration of the TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF GARGOYLES!!! I'm going to be a guest of the convention, and we've already begun discussions to create a Gargoyles convention within the convention. That's right, folks, the GATHERING OF THE GARGOYLES is back!! There will be a RADIO PLAY! There will be a BLUE MUG!! There will be the ROCKY HORROR GARGOYLES SHOW-ING OF THE TRADITIONAL VIDEOS!! There will be ASK GREG LIVE!! And there will be other Gargoyles related guests to be announced!!!
If you came to any one of the thirteen Gatherings that we held between 1997 and 2009, you know how much fun this can be. You'll want to be there again! If you missed the Gatherings and always wished you had had the opportunity, now is your chance! If you've never heard of the Gathering, but like Gargoyles (or any of the other shows I've done or am doing - including W.I.T.C.H., Spectacular Spider-Man, Young Justice, Rain of the Ghosts and/or Star Wars Rebels, etc.) then this is an opportunity to talk with me and other like-minded fans about them. (We'll probably have panels on them all!)
And if you're interested in just attending a great comic book and science fiction and fantasy and genre convention, then Gargoyles aside, you just can't beat CONvergence:
http://convergence-con.org/
The camaraderie of the Gatherings was truly something wonderful, and the closest I've ever come to that outside the Gatherings is CONvergence. I honestly can't think of a better con to merge with, even if it's just for one year. (For starters, the ENTIRE hotel is rented to the convention, and the parties go on all night. No more being told by management that we have to stop talking and/or move to some other location. We can and will continue until we drop!)
Now, let's think. Let's strategize. CONvergence is going on NOW. As I type this. And it will last through the end of this July 4th weekend. Next year's convention is exactly one year away. That's plenty of time to plan, to save up money, make travel and hotel arrangements etc. But mostly, what we've got to do in that year is SPREAD THE WORD!!! I want to see a HUGE GARGOYLE FAN TURNOUT at CONvergence 2014. Let's stun CONvergence, the world and DISNEY by showing them how immensely popular Gargoyles still is. And for sure, I don't want any Gargoyles fan saying, "Gee, I didn't hear about it."
So help me, please. I'm sure there are a lot of old fans out there that long ago stopped reading ASK GREG. Contact them. Contact EVERY Gargoyles fan you know, young and/or old. (Don't assume they must already know.) I want to see all my old friends. And a lot of new ones. So, please. Help me. SPREAD. THE. WORD!!!!!!

Don't forget to purchase S2V2 from the Disney Movie Club-- you can also find it on eBay for nearly list price!

This release is a good news/bad news situation.
The bad news is there are no bonus features (expected, of course) and that the case is a standard size one that stacks all three discs on top of each other. Slightly annoying is that the numbering of these discs (9 for the first two, 8 on the third) splits "The Gathering" up onto discs two and three.
The good news (which outweighs the bad) is that these episodes are uncut. That means we see Oberon get a spear in the chest in "The Gathering Part Two" and we hear Fang call Demona's transformation kinky in "The Reckoning". Fans who have wanted the uncut versions will definitely want this DVD (and perhaps an empty three-disc case as well).

loved it since i was 13 when it came out and been one of my fave animated shows.
I liked it that some of the guys like Eric Randomsky to some writers like Frank Paur/Michael Reeves and some character designers who worked on Batman TAS and Spawn TAS and it appealed to all ages especially teens/adults just like Batman TAS did and Keith David whom is one of my fave actors was awesome as Goliath.
Did anyone think Lexington looks like Gollum from the 78 Bakshi Lord of the Rings movie? i always thought of that.
I also gotta say that Demona is one hot monster chick, i had a crush on her and even had dirty fantasies about her when i was a teen, LOL.
Anyone likes it that they used some Star Trek actors on this show especially Jonathan Franckes and Brent Spiner?
I think they should put Gargoyles in the next KH game, wouldn't that make a great world?

I know and i bought it.
Does Xanatos remind anyone of an evil version of Tony Stark?
Yes i agree that Marvel should bring Gargoyles back in comics, i'd love to see that happen. Hell, why not bring the Disney afternoon in Marvel?

Are there any more former DMC exclusive Disney Afternoon titles at the Disney Store.
