I really like the way Wall-E is shaping up, from what we've seen and hard so far... and the teaser hasn't done anything to change that assessment. I can't quite see the rationale behind the Pixar bashing over this teaser... I didn't really interpret it as arrogance. I guess some people are just determined to dislike certain companies.

Yes, because clearly Wall-E is an experimental military drone granted sentience by accident and adopted by a human who, against every ounce of human nature, is willing to accept an intelligent life-form different than himself... oh, wait... he's
not. The only similarity at all is the fact Wall-E
looks like Johnny 5; at least a younger (in an anthropomorphic sense) version of him.

When will they get back to basics, and have the soul of their movies return? As shown in the Toy Stories, Monsters, Nemo, but sadly lacking in the Incredibles and Cars.
I haven't really noticed any over-promotion of Pixar... there seems to be no more promotion going on at the moment than at any other time they've released a new film. I'll agree that
Cars was Pixar's weakest effort to date, but
The Incredibles is one of my top favourites, up there with
Monsters, Inc..
I just havnt liked their last couple of movie efforts, and I don't think I'm going to like Wall-e, as it's not my taste in movies. I like the warmth given from animal, human, and toy characters, and I don't think this has been displayed in Ratatouille
In the realm of "warmth", how are robots much different than toys? Robots, properly portrayed, can exude just as much emotion and feeling as any of the other beings that have been the subjects of Pixar films. Personally, I sometimes find artificial life-forms in films to be
more sympathetic than their biological peers.
As far as Ratatouille goes, unless you've seen the actual movie (clips and trailers aren't enough to judge it on, IMO) you aren't really qualified to say whether it carries over the same feeling from their other movies. I saw it last night, and found it quite entertaining and funny.
