I'm just curious, who is going to get the special case from Target? I know it's cool and all, but the disc holders don't look very attractive.

Honestly I'm not sure. I was tempted by this, but its only available with the single disc edition of Transformers. It covers the prequel comics that were released and Cullen narrates it. I'm curious to see if its actually an animated story or just still images from the comics.

The case is very unique in my opinion, and if I wasn't getting the Steelbook this is the one I would pickup. I am a little worried about the disc holders, and how well the set will hold up over time.

While it wasn't the "best" movie of the summer Transformers was a big surprise, and easily the most fun I had at the theater this summer. It took 21 years for another Transformers Movie to get made, but it was worth the wait. I think Peter Cullen was a big reason this was a success. His voice alone tied the movie to the feelings I had for the 80s cartoon growing up. He looked different, but to me it was the same Optimus Prime I grew up with. Plus the rest of the movie wasn't bad either.

A few other exclusives are... Sears/K-Mart will have Transformers "Flash Lights" and Blockbuster has a Transformers MP3 player when you buy the DVD (its a 128 Meg player).

Just got back from picking up my Steelbook at Suncoast. A few things...

They told me on Sunday when they called, to make sure I was going to pickup my preorder, they only got 16 total. When I went in they had about 30, and a few Decepticon Steelbooks were still available. When I opened it, it is identical to the Futureshop one. My disc 1 was loose, but luckly there were no scratches on the disc.

Also what I found odd was a small piece of dirt inside the case. It was brown and really looked like dirt, not dust. I just wiped it out, but out of all the DVDs I have bought I have never scene this at all. The OCD in me really was disgusted to find this in a new DVD.

Anyone else find anything odd in their DVDs lately?

I got the Target exclusive transforming version. Its on my "Cool but Excessive DVD Packaging Shelf." It is pretty unique, now its not an action figure quality figure or anything but I like it. The discs are stored on the back, it opens up with one disc on each side. They snap in there like an other DVD cases and seems pretty secure. It came witha prequel comic book and all of it was housed in a clear box with the 2 disc Optimouse cover.

Read your review Aaron...whew! Not a big Transformers fan huh? What toys did you enjoy when you were a kid? Just wondering since you said that you thought the toys were lame back then.

Wow.... As neither a fan of the toys, nor Michael Bay films (The only other two he's made that are worth a damn are The Island and The Rock), I was surprised that I really liked Transformers. I was disappointed that Aaron did not. Yeah, there's no plot and Michael Bay's an arrogant prick, but it's robots beating the crap out of each other very loudly! What's not to like? ;) I know at least I enjoyed it. :P

Cheers,

I do want to add Transformers to my DVD collection, but I think I will wait a year or two for the price to go down. I have a feeling that in a couple of years, you'll be able to get it for $10. Take Batman Begins as an example. It was $19.99 on the first day out on DVD. Saw it recently in a store for $10, and this was the 2-disc set. :ears:

If you just want the single disc release it want take that long before its $10. It seems like a lot of DVDs are dropping in price pretty fast lately.

I haven't had time to go though the second disc, but the movies video and audio are great.

Also the Target Exclusive seems to be selling out pretty fast from what I have read online.

Does the normal 2-disc case or 1-disc come with a chapter insert?

Oh by the way, the transforming dvd case is AWESOME. It just sucks that the case around it is the kind of plastic that will rip after opening it a few times.

The transforming case is pretty awesome, but like you said it looks like after a few times opening it, it could start to fall apart.

I got the 2 disc Steelbook so I'm not sure about the regular 2 disc. I did not get a chapter insert. All that was in my case was a advertisement to win a new Camaro.

The Review says no... I hate that because they charge us so much for the 2-disc and are too cheap to put in an insert.

Shrek 3 and Transformers were the last regular DVDs I bought before Blu Ray. I figured it would be forever before they came out on Blu Ray. Guess I was wrong huh.
