I own all of the treasures in the tin form. I picked up the Collectors Set at Costco so I would have a set sealed. Even if they're not in tins :(

There seems to be a large confusion on eBay on the fair price of the Disney Treasures recently released without the tins (i.e., from Costco) and the original tin versions from BV. I believe the confusion is a product of the outright misleading product advertising by BV when they released the original tins.

I would like to know what the folks around here think about BV originally marketing a limited # of these tins and advertising - this is your only chance to obtain these classics, and then turn around and sale them in large quantity via the non-tin.

Firstly, we don't know how many CostCo sets there actually are. Either way, it appears the "non-tin" sets are limited to a perticular retailer.

I therefore suggest that until there's a national relaunch of tinless Treasures, we just assume these sets are made from stock with Damaged tins. After all, it would be easy for a large number of the tins to have been dented or scratched in transit and returned to Disney...

Someone is selling these on ebay in the UK saying they are limited to 10,000 - does anyone know if this true or just a load of crap the seller has put on so they will sell for more money. As for the tins , i have six of the origonal seven and i dont think these "tinless wonders" devalue the origonal sets.

My generous Mom agreed to loan me the money for this set before they ran out (I'm flat broke on spending money), so I just picked it up. I'm really excited because the only one I could ever find of the tins was the Disneyland DVD, and I really wanted Crockett, BTS, and MMIB&W most of all. Thanks, Mom!

# of Disney Treasures "non tins"

A fellow on eBay is offering the disney treasures, non tin, with the following ad for one of them:

"150,000 numbered tins were produced, BUT ONLY 10,500 copies like this (sealed, Region 1 no tin) were produced."

I asked him:

"Please tell me what proof you have for this statement regarding the non-tins."

If I receive a reply I will post the information.

In the meantime, I was wondering if anyone here knows how many non tins were produced. Thanks

I just e-mailed Leonard Maltin to thank him for his work on the Treasures sets and told him about the set at Costco.

He replied:

"Hi Jack...

Working on the Walt Disney Treasures has been a genuine labor of love, so I want you to know how much your letter means to me. Thanks, in fact, for all of your kind words.

I'm SO glad you found that box at Costco... I've been telling everyone I know, as friends have told me about the speculator's prices people are charging for some of the out-of-print tins.

I hope you continue to enjoy all this material... and wait till you see Wave 3 in May... a lot of rare and wonderful stuff yet to come.

all the best,

Leonard Maltin"

I agree they shouldn't do that. Even though i have the costco set  I mean if its limited edition, it would be worth more and special now its just not :x

Sorry to hear this. You can either become a member (it's only $45-I make up the cost of membership in gas and prepaid phone cards alone), or beg someone to buy it for you. Find a friend who is a member, or go make a new friend in the parking lot at Costco. The Treasures are awesome!!!! My wife thought I was crazy when I brought them home, but they are so worth having.

You can buy the Treasures box set at Costco.com even if you are not a Costco member. They do add on 5% though. Still at $131.24 (+tax and S&H), it's a good deal if you don't have this set.

Welcome to the forum, Natedogg9129. How you like it here...

...and I hope you like the Treasures sets. Let us know what you think of them. My favourites are Davy Crockett, followed by Goofy and the Behind the Scenes one.

I think it is great that Disney are making these available to newer fans through Costco...I only wish they would make them available for general sale, and for the rest of the world.
