Is the trailer for The Fox and the Hound 2 the same one we saw in Bambi 2? It's quite possible that new footage may have been added now that were closer to the release date. If that is so please upload the trailer cause I am curious.

I like the green cover art better, too. But I hope they clean it up a little before it's released.

The female dog on the right looks like she was based on Rita from Oliver and Company and Sasha from All Dogs Go to Heaven 2. Copper looks okay, but Tod is off model...again.

man, how do they manage to go off model not just once, but even after getting a second chance? geeze, even I could probably draw it more on model than they have been.

I haven't looked closely at the trailor, but is Todd possibly off-model in the film, too? If so then that would be a reason for his off-model drawing on both covers. Disney Toon Studios has been good about this in recent years, but they have in the past messed up characters in their sequels and Flounder is off model in the screen caps of TLM3 that have been posted.

todd does seem a bit off model in the movie based on the trailer, but its nowhere near as off as the box art shows him. the biggest thing that sticks out to me is that his cheeks are supposed to slightly angle upward or straight out. both box arts not only have them angled down, but he has more distinguished features in general. it makes him look older than he's supposed to. its almost like they wanted him to be slightly younger than his adult form, but its obvious from the trailers that he's supposed to look just like his younger self.

I like the new cover art better as well. I just hope they keep the title art the same, because I liked that on the old cover art. I think this one's better because it's not as busy.

correct me if i'm wrong, but apparently widescreen wasn't this films original format, or something. And i think that for the audio and video upgrade, i would definately upgrade. then again i have a grudge against the Gold Collection as a whole. I hate all the Gold Collections!!!

You are right and wrong at the same time.

How many times does that happen? lol. Disney consistently claims that the film was filmed in fullscreen, and judging by the way it is framed, I would say that is more than likely correct. There is controversy, however, because on it's initial Gold Collection release, the box claimed that it had been modified to fit you TV screen, which inplies that it was pan & scaned from widescreen into fullscreen. They re-released it and then claimed that fullscreen was it's original theatrical aspect ratio. However, in 1981, widescreen was the standard and if Fox and the Hound was theatrically exhibited in fullscreen, it would have been the first time a Disney animated film was fullscreen since 1955! After Sleeping Beauty, Disney filmed their animated classics in fullscreen because it was cheaper to use fullscreen film and more economical for later television airings. However, they placed the bulk of the action in the ceneter and intended to matt it into widescreen. So it is more than likely that the Fox and the Hound was theatrically exhibited in widescreen, matted from the fullscreen version.
By the way, I really liked the Gold Collection line. Without it, I don't think we would have all of the package features or The Black Cauldron on DVD. Plus several GC editions had a decent release, such as The Sword in the Stone. Some DVDs released outside of it, such as The Rescuers, were given a pretty poor DVD treatment. I also liked the fact that the spine of the DVDs attempted to continue the boarder similar to the Masterpiece Editon VHSs. However, I'm completely in favor of Disney releasing better versions, because there were some very poorly GC DVDs. Also, I was upset that it was the "Gold Classic Collection" and had classic written on it, yet they added films like Pocahontas 2 and A Bug's Life, which is a Pixar film.

Hmm... not sure what to think of this release judging by these screenshots. By the look of it, they've used the same source as the Gold Collection transfer but just "treated" is slightly differently - e.g. a slither more picture at the bottom, slightly brighter (or darker in some cases). The fact that, in Escapay's captures, the positioning of everything is identical (especially noticeable with the shots of the credits), seems to confirm that they've just used the same master again. Very lazy, Disney, very lazy.
