Alrighty, I bought the DVD last weekend. I had never actually seen the movie, but many of my friends love it... along with people at my work.... plus my boyfriend is always raving about it. So I finally picked it up for a good price, with a slip cover.

I loved it, especially the music. The bonus featured kinda sucked, I really only liked the part about the voice actors. I only watched the first 20 minutes of the "Bartok" movie... I was bored to death! I'll finish it some other time....

I just ordered mine from Bestbuy, can you believe I went personally and they didn't have it?! I 'm sort of looking foward to watching it it's all new restoration. By the way Poody how is the restoration?

Just a question: In the 2nd disc of Anastasia Family-Fun Edition we get the movie Bartok the Magnificent. Does this happen also in the 2nd disc of Ferngully Family-Fun Edition? I mean do we get another movie, probably Ferngully 2 or not?

I guess the restoration looks alright, but nothing compared to Disney's DVDs. I've never seen it at Best Buy either! I got mine at Target for 12.99.

Nope.... I have the Fernuglly DVD and it doesn't include Ferngully 2. I wanna see it! But I don't feel like buying the VHS.

So it's only bonus features in the 2nd disc, no other movie. Thanks for the info.

Do you guys think the film recieved a frame by frame restoration? I was watching some clips on you tube and I had forgotten how stunning the animation and backgrounds were. They seem to be in Disney's artistic level.

Actually thinking about it, isn't Anastasia all-digital like Aladdin, Pocahontas, etc? Therefore it really didn't need a restoration, so I imagine it looks almost perfect.

The aspect ratio changed. The movie on the original DVD looks stretched compared to the new release.

I got my copy yesterday and watched it. I was very pleased with the quality. I can honestly say this DVD stands next to Disney in the quality and artistic departments (someone said it wasn't as good as disney's restorations), not that I'm comparing Anastasia to Disney Films I'm mainly defending it and saying that it doesn't need to be Disney to be beautiful, artistic, groundbreaking, etc. This movie is soo beautifully expressed through it's art, I just fell in love with how graceful and delicately character movements are, very realistic. The computer graphics look quite nifty aswell. It's just an enormous achivement in my opinion and hopefully people who don't consider watching other animation other than Disney's will someday learn to appreciate top of the line animation no matter who created them.

You should DisneyDVDFan, although it's light in extra's the audio commentary is soo imformative and really makes you appreciate all the hard work that went into making this magnificent film.

Ok, I watched the "Making of Anastasia" and it is very interesting and imformative. It explains everything about the movie and how they moved the camera around, it's really cool. The audio commentary is really fun aswell, the Producers/ Director's Don bluth and Gary Goldman talk of how they feel the movie could have been better, but I think it was good. They mostly discuss how colors could have been more toned down in some scenes to make the audience feel the mood and suppression. This was the first time I heard an audio commentary and for now on I'm going to consider them all. Let's just say I now know how much passion went into making this film and how difficult it was to execute, but in the end they managed to do a hell of a good job. So all in all I learned a lot from the audio commentary and making of featurette, I highly recommend anyone who owns this set to hear the adio commentary and watch the making of the movie.

Why has this thread all of the sudden become so popular? Hasn't this DVD been out for months?

I didn't buy the Anastasia "Family Fun Edition" but I did by the FernGully Family Fun Edition with Anastasia for $13 (it was a two pack special from Walmart) haven't watched it yet though.

Well good animation attracts attention. And yes this dvd has been out for months now, but I just got my copy and wanted to comment on it's fascinating picture quality. It's about time this underappreciated film got some credit, feedback, and appreciation.

I wish they had included a background gallery and character development. I would have loved to see those stunning backgrounds as stills to appreciate them more and see all the little details they included. Have any of you guys even watched the other movie on disc two? I think they should've left that out to add more bonus features.

Sorry you guys for the bump but I wanna ask if Anastasia Family Fun Edition came with a slipcover. I just bought the DVD and it had no slipcover which I found strange since all the other animated Family Fun DVDs do. I want to know if it was only my copy or if it just doesn't come with a slipcover.
