I have no idea how I'm going to wait over two years to see this movie. It's gonna be tough....luckily there are a bunch of good movies to look forward to in the mean time.

Well, the bad news is this movie will no longer get released on my birthday. But, I'm actually glad the date got pushed back. If they hadn't even started working on a script yet in February, then December '07 didn't seem like enough time to finish the movie and keep it as good as the original.

I'm ok with them taking their time on it. I want it to be perfect because I hate it when movies screw over the amazing books the stories came from. I first read the series when I was eight. I'm 20 now and would like the films to be just as amazing as i saw the stories in my head when I read them.

Is there any more news on Prince Caspian? All I know is that they are shooting for a summer '08 release. Oh well, as long as it's good, and that Disney doesn't screw us over again with the 4-Disc Extended Edition like what they did for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Ooh. I did find that "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" will also be made a year after "Prince Caspian". Too bad that some of the characters will not be there.

That is some awesome information, where did you hear that from? (Not that I don't believe you, just curious.) As far as movie orders go, it would make sense for that to come next.

That's good news. Voyage of the Dawn Treader was always my favorite book in the series. To begin with, I was kind of disappointed they were doing Prince Caspian (because I hate that book so much), but, if it's leading up to the other, I'm happy.

Gasp... what?? You hated Prince Caspian? That was my most favorite of the books, behind The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe of course.

Well, I didn't really care for Wardrobe that much either. I was very disappointed that the battle ended so quick. The witch mutilates Aslan, the fight starts, then the lion eats her (in less than 10 pages). I didn't want a full blown war like LotR, but I wanted a little something. The movie made the final battle more intense, which tidied that little nitpick up for me.



The only books I really liked were: The Magician's Nephew, The Horse and His Boy, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Last Battle (although how they discluded Susan really made me angry). Thinking back, Prince Caspian wasn't so bad and it'll probably make at least a decent film.

I got it from ComingSoon.net. There was also an interview with Mr. Gresham (Lewis's nephew (I think)), which was pretty interesting. Also there was some other information that said stuff about the shooting locations for the film, and New Zealand was/is a possibility.

For those who are interested, Disney have up dated their Narnia website. It now features Prince Caspian.

February 4, 2007 - The title role in Prince Caspian, Disney's sequel to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, has been cast. English thesp Ben Barnes, soon to be seen in Matthew Vaughn's Stardust, has won the coveted part but now faces a lawsuit over his decision to leave a stage play in order to work on the film.

Barnes, 25, was appearing as "Dakin" in a British revival of the Tony award-winning play The History Boys when he won the role of Caspian, according to TimesOnline.uk.

"Ben Barnes has decided to leave The History Boys early, before his contract is finished. It is something we are taking very seriously. He has accepted an offer to be in a children's Disney film and we have had to fly Jamie King back at extremely short notice this week," a spokesperson for the National Theatre advised The Times.

The National Theatre is reportedly "furious" at Barnes for exiting History Boys, which he has been a part of since 2006, and are considering suing him for breach of contract.

Speaking of contracts, a source for the Times article claims that Barnes informed his History Boys comrades that he had signed a three-picture deal with Disney for the Narnia films, which the studio envisions as a seven-film series.[/i]

That is interesting. All I have to say is that this better not delay the movie any further - that would really piss me off!

I'm bumping this thread for two reasons. One, shooting has started on Prince Caspian and I wanted to update everyone on it.

All four leading actors -- Skandar Keyes, Anna Popplewell, William Moseley and Georgie Henley -- are back as the Pevensie kids, as well as Liam Neeson returning as the voice of Aslan. Andrew Adamsen is also back as the director. The screenplay is co-adapted by Adamsen, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (again, the same writing/directing team of the first).

Most of the crew members from the first movie are also on board for Prince Caspian -- film editor Sim Evan-Jones, production designer Roger Ford, costume designer Isis Mussenden, makeup artists Howard Berger and Tami Lane, Richard Taylor and the Weta Workshop will do armor and weapons again, and the film will be produced by Philip Stuer and Mark Johnson.

The new crew to the film is Karl Walter Lindelaub (Independence Day, Stargate) as director of photography and visual effects co-supervisors Wendy Rogers and Dean Wright. The film will be shot in New Zealand, Prague, the Czech Republic and on location in Slovenia and Poland. The visual effects will be done by Weta Digital, Framestore CFC and London's Moving Picture Company.

Not exactly news on what roles have been cast or any new information on The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, but the director for The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyages of the Dawn Treader has been announced as Michael Apted (The World is Not Enough, Amazing Grace, Nell). No other news about the third movie has emerged yet, but Adamson is staying on the third film as a producer.

Narnia was the first "real" book series I read. I suppose it was my first fandom. I liked The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe movie for the most part. I loved how they included Mrs. Macready. I automatically loved her character, because she was barely mentioned at all in the book and in the movie she was just the type of female character I always love.

Mr. Tumnus, my childhood favorite, was a different from how I had always imagined him to look. Well, that goes without saying.

Anyway, that being said, Prince Caspian is considered the direct sequel by most Narnia fans despite the fact that The Horse and His Boy takes place between book the second and book the fourth. In movie format, Prince Caspian is indeed the best choice to released next.

It's too bad Mrs. Macready won't be in it.

Prince Caspian is the direct sequel, as it was the second Narnia book published (LWW in 1950, PC in 1951), while The Horse and His Boy was the fifth (in 1954).

Anyways, to provide some movie-related stuff in this post, anyone remember this thread from early February? It's about how Ben Barnes, who plays Prince Caspian, may be sued for dropping out of The History Boys (stage revival) to shoot the film. Any update on that? Did they or didn't they sue him? The most I could find online was that they had to get back Jamie King (who did Barnes' role in the touring version) to fill in for him.
