Many of you on this page have given very good arguements about the biased cloud everyone places on the sequels and "secondary" roles given to many of our beloved characters...

I for one continue to rate the sequels idividually, if i get to see characters i love in a good setting and great animation (as almost all recent DTV's have been flawless) then im gonna like it.

Recent DTV's that deserve some notablitity are def. Lilo and Stich 2 and Mulan 2...very excellent. Tarzan 2 was kind of half assed, because it would have been much more interesting to show us what happened to Tarzan and Jane after "Tarzan". And Bambi 2 (i agree the great prince of the forest title should have been kept) looks like it's gonna be the best of the batch!

So this is when Todd and Copper are still young, yes? Interesting.

Well, it's colorful to say the least. And to whoever remarked about the Grand Ole Opry having to do with TFandTH, well, it is set in the back country, so I imagine it falls into context with that somehow.

Wow! Disney's really starting to go all out on the voice acting for the sequels. O_O Reba McIntire and Patrick Swayze? Sweet!

If BVHE's recent track record is any indication, we'll see a new re-release of The Fox and the Hound much like how we saw re-releases for Tarzan and Emperor's New Groove. But, if it'll be in the same vein as Tarzan and TENG's re-release, the already-barebones Fox and the Hound may simply release a new cover that doesn't put it under the Gold Collection Banner.

On a related note to the GC DVD for Fox and the Hound, I've noticed a few changes as of late...

1. Originally it had the metallic-shiny Gold Collection banner, and the back mentioned the "Let's Be Friends" booklet, and a "1.33:1 Aspect Ratio", along with the "formatted to fit your screen" claim at the bottom. (Original Release to August 2005)

2. Then they stopped making the booklet, but still mentioned it on the back. This past summer, they dropped mention of the booklet, and changed it to "1.33:1 - Original Theatrical Aspect Ratio". The "formatted to fit your screen" was dropped as well. (August 2005 to November 2005)

3. And finally, I noticed a few copies at Target. The Gold Collection banner is no longer metallic-shiny (and neither is Dumbo's 60th Anniversary banner). And now it says "1.33:1 - Original Aspect Ratio". (November 2005 to present)

If they are making a new release for Fox and the Hound, the minor changes they keep making to the GC is rather useless and still headscratching when it comes to OAR.

Though I still am keeping my fingers crossed that Fox and the Hound gets some type of new Special Edition with more than the GC has to offer (sing-a-long, 1988 re-release trailer, and DVD storybook).

Next year is Fox & The Hounds' 25th Anniversary year. I'm hoping for a Special Edition, but we haven't seen any of the "lesser films" receiving a digital restoration or any kind of special edition. But it's not 100% impossible. Seeing as Disney is running out of movies to re-release as special edition with a digital restoration, they're gonna have to go with some of the 70's and 80's flicks as SE's at some point.

For those of you who've seen the preview for this film on the Bambi II DVD, lemme be the first to say...what the hell is this crap?!!!!

Can't expect too much from a sequel now can we?
I'm just glad they didn't ruin the original ending. That would be too much for me to take.

Remember Fox and the Hound 2 isn't really a sequel it's a midsequel.

Really it's on Bambi II. Oh I gotta see that and ridicule the hell out of it.

this movie looks rediculous. i have no clue what was going through these people's heads. Copper joining a country singing band and that being the conflict between their friendship? what the heck! this is one of those movies that doesn't need a sequel at all! they should've just left it alone and made a sequel to something that makes more sence, like... The Black Cauldron, The Rescuers (another one), or maybe The Great Mouse Detective.

What is the problem with Disney making sequels? It is simply a company trying to make money!! What's the problem with that. If you dont like it dont buy it. Let us, the one that buys them, enjoy !!!

Let me rephrase that: "What is the problem with Disney making bad sequels?" Now there you'll find some answers. So far no one has complained about Toy Story II / Rescuers Down Under / Fantasia 2000... Many though [myself included], have been complaining about the cheap quality of sequels like Hunchback II, Tarzan II and the likes. It's not hard to see why...

my complaint doesn't really lie in the grounds of not making sequels at all. But making sequels that don't make any sense what so ever? that's where i have a problem. and yes i will buy this movie just because i'm a collecting fiend, but i doubt that this movie will sell as good as any of the other DTV sequels out there, and i can definately see it not being considered the best. so why on earth would you make something when you know it's not going to be a tremendous success?!? that's where i've always been left clueless when it came to disney. they really should spend their time and money making great sequels like The Lion King 2, The Lion King 1 1/2, or Bambi II in my opinion. And yes i know that disney is a money making company, as is any company of this stature. But in the end i can't see how any of this is exactly helping the company. Maybe since 2005's DVD and theatrical sales dropped quiet a bit from 2004's, well see some new developments. And that's my arguement and i would like to think that a lot of people agree. So Disney can make sequels, i'd just prefer some good ones!

Who determines what's a bad sequel or a sequel that does not make sense, you guys? I say money talks !!! My point is you make this sound like a heretic act from a company whose ultimate goal is to make money by any means !! I say bring Snow White II, Pinochio II and and II's or III's they want !!! I'll buy them all and watch them with my kids!!! That way Disney is happy, their employees are happy and I'm happy!!!!

Makes me think he listens to the band play all the time on the radio on Slate's property and drools all over it like a fanatic. He'd give anything to be part of it and eventually realizes he'd have to literally give up Tod to do so. Spends the movie trying to figure out what he wants most and what he's willing to lose. Tod probably spends a good deal of time moping around, turning to Big Mama, while Copper keeps to himself to sort out his feelings. Look forward to comparing my thoughts to the actual movie.

Well that's because Rescures Down Under is hella good!!! Toy Story II is some what good. For the rest I haven't seen them so I can't commet.

Yes... And you, and anyone else who's seen the movies. From my experience though, most adult viewers find most sequels to be a pathetic excuse for a film. Sure, there's the odd winner here and there, but the majority of films just don't appeal to the whole family (Disney is also making it clear it should be for kiddies-only with the awful releases the movies are getting).
