Technically, Disney is right. it's in the 50th anniversary because you can't consider the year it was released a year in the anniversary.

I guess what Dave means is that Lady and the Tramp doesn't turn 51 until June 2006, and since the DVD comes out in February, it's still in the film's 50th year. Either way, numbering this edition, period, is stupid, and I hope Disney changes it back to 2-Disc Special Edition. We all know how consistant Disney is with this line, though...DaveWadding wrote:Blah. whatever.Luke wrote: 1956...1st anniversary

I'll stick by Shakespeare "A rose by any other name..."
I guess you could justify it like thatDisneykid wrote:

Did some searching on UD, and sure enough, mvealf posted screencaps in a Lady and the Tramp thread in the international forumanger is pointless wrote:oh hey can somebody post p and s vs cinama scope versions comparison piccys of lady and the tramp
Escapaymvealf wrote:No, the laserdisc they are referring to is the REAL academy version, which was shown in 1955 in theaters that couldn't handle Cinemascope. There were more than a few re-composed scenes. Any time there were characters on the far left AND the far right of the screen, they were re-positioned to be more in the center. This happened all throughout the film. Here is an example, Cinemascope on top, pan and scan in the middle, and re-composed version on the bottom
Only the rare laserdisc has the bottom image. I have noticed one scene where you can see more picture on the top of the re-positioned version (the thumb that is holding the mirror). You cannot see the thumb on the Cinemascope print or the pan and scan print, only on the Academy ratio version on laserdisc.
The 50th Anniversary Edition is the Platinum Edition. It's the same release with multiple names. I'm guessing it will have the "PLatinum Edition" banner at the top, but say "50th Anniversary Edition" on the spine and under the title.Pluto wrote:Is the movie going to be Platinum or 50th anniversary, or both?
