Come to think of it, I've never read the book of Bambi, but usually if there is one (ie Roger Rabbit or Watership Down, off the top of my head) I usually read the book to see how it compares to the film. I'll look for it over winter break since I've a feeling that will be the only time I'll get to actually read anything.

Oh, and I'm just going to rent. I don't want to be stuck with something I really loathe. If I end up liking it (fat chance but stranger things have happened) then I'll consider buying it.

It's good and it's pretty easy to read because it's for 9 years old and up. So unless that doens't fit your discription...
Once you start reading the book you're going to find differences right away. For instance, there are more characters. The movie is far from the book but it follows the basics of the story.


You know what sad, I'm a huge Bambi fan and about 10 minutes ago I found out that the original move won 3 Acadame Awards. I know... I know...

I was actually referring to the movie Bambi 2 when I was talking about renting. And I would hope 9+ would fit my description too with the book. I'll keep my eyes peeled for it all the same.

As for awards, the only one I knew Bambi was nominated for (but didn't win) was the song, "Love is a Song". Must've forgotten about the other two....animation I bet or visual was one of them.

What's name of the author of the Bambi books and how many books are there in total? (You could actually list them)

the book is named "Bambi: A life on the woods" and it ahve a sequel, about the sons of Bambi and it appears than it the man makes an apperarance and it create some kind of friendship with one of the characters

I haven`t ever found it, so I can`t assure anything about the stry, just a few jibbery jabbery that i read on the web

So that's the reason why I didn't find it anywhere, maybe I should try the library or something.

Where are you guys seeing these previews of Bambi II at?

I can't even imagine them making a sequel to Snow White. I really think it would be a low point for Disney. I agree with someone who said they should just focus on trying to make new good animation and rehash their classics into modern sequels.

However, this is not being released in the theaters. What is the target audience for direct to video releases? Isn't it just the mom who wants to park her kid in front of a television with something to entertain them with? Perhaps we should realize that they are not setting out to best or better the original; just make a product for moms to park their kids in front of the set. In which case, it's not meant to be on par with the original - if it was, wouldn't they be releasing it in the theater?

The trailer is on the Bambi PE DVD or you can find it on the web somewhere.

The sequel to the book is called Bambi's Children by Felix Salten. Not as good as the first one from what I hear. I actually heven't read it yet, apperantly it's kind of a difficult book to find. But Bambi: A Life in the Woods can be found on Amazon, which is where I bought my copy.

BTW - Isidour, I though that Bambi had a twin daughter and son not twin sons. Unless, I'm mistaken.

I've never seen a DTV that wasn't something that wasn't meant to be more than fluff. Really, I don't think you'd find somebody who steadfastedly supports this Bambi mid-quel....except maybe those that gave it the green light for some unkown reason.

Because Bambi becomed quickly a synonim of Disney because of Bambi´s mother death and some persons wandered about what happened between that event and his return to his friends...at least those who had never read the book

And also as an impulse to make more profits and sell more the kind of unsuccesfull Bambi DVD, which you can find right now(at least here) for 14 bucks...(I payed for it 25 because it was a pre-sale, but I was the very first to have it so who cares )

Yeah but the book really didn't go into much detail what happened to him after his mother died. So that's why to me it would be interesting to watch but on the other hand stupid because of what we're talking about earlier.

They should of just let me and Isidour produce the movie. Along with Jerry Bruckheimer. We'd get like a million Acadame awards.

BTW Roger Rabbit, you're right it was Nominated for 3 Oscars in 1943 for best Music and song "Love is a Song." It won the Golden Globe and Genesis Award.

bring the cameras and the drawers, maybe it will be a very dark story, but strictly made by the book!

Ironic how most Disney fans probably could create a better story than the ones who are getting paid to do it. I've no doubt Isidour and Zoltack (and possibly me) could whip up something for Bambi. No wait, we'd leave it alone in the first place!

There you go! Just leave it alone that's the most sensible thing to do. I don't know with our knoledge about the story of Bambi and base it on the book more deeply we could conjure up a good piece of work.

Yeah, I saw that late last night when I came in to read the new responses to the thread, but did not know how to notify a moderator. How do we notify the moderator of people basically "hazing" this site? That was pretty gross. My husband had told me about tub girls. Those pictures are usually used by administratoros of websites when someone "hotlinks" to their photos (I have a small website and had to address hotlinking so this is how i know about it). I'd never seen an actual tubgirl and I must say that picture was so horrible it would cure me!

As for the Bambi effort - is there any way that people here can give Disney feedback on some of these ill-coceived efforts?

Anyways, back on subject... the reason why there are web-sites like this is so Disney can get feedback. You know I wouldn't be surprized if producers or directors from Disney films are reading this right now.

Hmmm, Ok thanks for the heads up on the feedback forum here; so you think the Disney brass reads this forum? If they don't, they are loosing out on a valued resource. They should be trying their best to keep all of you happy as you guys are their biggest fans and financial supporters, (with the exception of those Disney pin collector folks!)

I wouldn't be surprised if they browse about to see what non-Disney staff members, but consumers nonetheless, are saying about their decisions. After all, it is OUR money that we're spending on their products...and we surely won't do it on a piece of junk film whipped up for the heck of it.

Wishful thinking possibly.
