I didn't bother to watch the actual interview part, but did he assume that Woody and Jessie are a couple when Bo Peep comes back into his life?

But that would be a retcon. In Toy Story 3, Woody said Bo Peep and other toys "have gone on to new owners".

You're right. I looked up the full quote:
Woody: We’re all still here. I mean, yeah, we’ve lost friends along the way. Wheezy and Etch and…
Rex: Bo Peep?
Woody: Yeah. Even Bo. All good toys who’ve gone on to new owners.
I totally forgot the line you mentioned.

(It wouldn't be the first Pixar retcon though).

You're referring to Monsters University, right? I hate retcons. They're the definition of lazy and unimaginative writing. With Bo Peep's facelift, the possible retcon, and lack of any interesting trailers/clips, my excitement for Toy Story 4 is dwindling.

Yes, Monsters University. IMDb lists some for Toy Story 2 and Finding Dory too but I think those are just nitpicking, the MU is the big one.

I hate retcons too. A good writer should either stick closely to facts established by a previous film or find a creative way around factual or perceived issues caused by a previous film, without compromising the continuity. That's why I loathe when certain movies choose to ignore previous movies in the franchise, regardless of how bad those earlier movies ended up being. It is a lazy way out. In the context of MU, there's no reason Sulley and Mike couldn't have met as kids and grown apart as they grew up, only to reconnect in college.

No, Buzz + Woody + Bo.

I actually disagree with what others are saying that scene is about.

I don't think it's where Bo gets lost.

I think it's where she saves RC, but gets chipped (her arm maybe by pulling up on RC?). Then when Molly or the mom notice later, they decide Bo is old and should donated. Hence the earlier discussion of a sad cameo from Andy's mom. The rain is just symbolic of a sad separation from the other toys.

Where's the retcon? Its a flashback. She can both get lost and go on to a new owner.

I must say I despise Monsters University...it was in no way entertaining...it didn't progress the "franchise?"..it did absolutely nothing but deminish the product

I've noticed that Pixar hasn't bothered with any more prequels since that movie, so maybe they feel that sequels are a safer bet. I wonder if they'll ever revisit the Monsters franchise with a sequel or if they feel the franchise isn't strong enough to support another film.

I like this. Your theory definitely has more merit than mine, given the stuff we already know about the movie.

@REINIER: MU is definitely one of the lesser Pixar films. I don't despise it, for me it's just... there. Like you said, it didn't really add anything to the narrative. To be honest, I feel the same about most Pixar sequels/prequels, save for the Toy Story series. Monsters, Inc. is one of those movies that is more than capable of standing on its own. Its ending is open to interpretation and everyone can come up with their own theories about what happens after Sulley opens that door and that's the beauty of it (my theory is that he sees a grown-up Boo with a child of her own, and it's the kid who says "Kitty!"). It doesn't need a sequel and it definitely didn't need a prequel.

Better look at Giggles McDimple and Duke Caboom from notebook covers. It seems she's a police officer and he's a Canadian toy. Also, our first look at a new doll character. A costume of that character was discovered some time ago. According to that blog post, her name is Gabby.

I wonder how many people will go see it, I guess some people must be super nostalgic for Toy Story.

Anybody who saw the first three I'd imagine. Its toy story, they've yet to put out a bad movie.

I wonder if this will beat Finding Dory and Incredibles 2.

I have a feeling it might top Frozen.

I don't know if it'll beat Incredibles 2, but I think at least it'll be more successful than Toy Story 3. I don't think it'll top Frozen 2, though, but we'll see. It'll be interesting to see which of the two becomes the highest grossing animated film of the year.

Sotiris wrote:Pixar released a new clip. The scene takes place before Toy Story 3 in Molly's room.
I was surprised they released a clip so early. It seems not only Bo's appearance has changed but also her personality. I don't remember her being a leader before. By the way, have you guys seen this video? The people at Nerdist.com speculate that Bo Peep could be the film's surprise villain. What do you think? In my opinion, it's not too likely. And if it was true, I think she would be just an antagonistic figure, but not really evil. And of course, she'd change/be redeemed at the end.

There're no way they'll do that. They wouldn't have gone through the trouble of remolding her into a female empowerment poster girl if they had such plans.

I do hope the villain is female (but not Bo), it'd be a nice change for the Toy Story series. And Pixar so far has had only two female villains out of 20.
