That didn't occur to me. If that's the case, could they have changed the story they had completely to fit the new setting?

You would think Giselle would get disenchanted with the real world after she experienced Covid.

There will be seven new songs in the sequel!
Stephen Schwartz wrote:For the past few months, Alan Menken and I have been collaborating on songs for the sequel to Enchanted, which will again star Amy Adams as Giselle, the animated heroine who comes to make a life in our world. The clever screenplay is by Brigitte Hales, who has written for the TV series Once Upon a Time, so a very appropriate choice. The director and choreographer is Adam Shankman, who among many other movies directed the delightful screen adaptation of Hairspray. I am really liking collaborating with this terrific team. Of course, I can’t say anything about the plot, since that would involve a lot of spoilers, but I can say that the movie is planned to be a full-out musical, with more songs than the original (so far Alan and I have written seven songs, not counting reprises.) I think the current plan is to begin shooting the movie later this spring in Dublin, which I hope turns out to be true, since I love Ireland and would be delighted to spend some time there again, COVID-permitting. But wherever and whenever it actually goes into production, it has been a really enjoyable experience for me so far, and I have been very happy to have deadlines for an actual new project once more after the long fallow period brought on by the pandemic.

Songwriter Stephen Schwartz never stops working. Up early on a Saturday morning, he puts in some time rewriting lyrics for a new Disney movie musical before sitting for an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The movie, “Disenchanted,” currently in production, is a sequel to the 2007 hit “Enchanted.” It teams him up again with composer Alan Menken, and they’ve already written seven new songs, with more coming.

Im in the middle of binge watching Game of Thrones, and I got ta thinking what if Andalasia has been struck with a curse that turned its whimsical cartoon world into a real world but not only is it real, its this grimdark grey dreary "life forever sucks" place ala Westeros. Maybe that's what the Ireland location is for. :P

Im enjoying the show but Im by season 4 and I know from spoilers its just gonna get worse...and somebody really needs to take the piss on this show already. Enchanted already mocked happy ever after Disney fantasy in the first film, the sequel should mock this instead. :P

I think that's an interesting take, for sure! I think Nancy and Giselle normally might be able to help people deal with those feelings a bit, having lived in both worlds (if not for the curse, I suppose), but a curse is a good plot point...I wonder what the curse-breaker would be. I want to see this movie. :p

Alan Menken says the movie is ready to start filming:
Firstly discussing his new sequel to hit Disney film Enchanted, Menken said: "The sequel to Enchanted was basically started during the pandemic and now ready to start filming." Amy Adams will return for the musical feature.

James Marsden and Idina Menzel are returning!
Q: Is there anything about the Enchanted sequel that you could let us know about?

Alan Menken: It's really good. I don't think I'm allowed. It's filming. Amy Adams is in it. Patrick's in it. Idina Menzel is in it. Jimmy Marsden... They're in it. [...] The sequel to Enchanted is in pre-production but it's going to start filming very soon. It's in Dublin. [...] Disenchanted is basically done [in terms of songwriting] but I'm still writing the score.

I'm glad James Marsden and Idina Menzel are finally confirmed! And the fact that Alan Menken thinks the film is really good is encouraging. He revealed lots of things in that interview, didn't he? I wonder if he was allowed to reveal all of them or not.

I wonder if the will keep the humour family friendly or if they will make it more adult. To be honest, I've always wanted to watch this scene of Giselle talking to two hookers. :D

I wonder if they will re-use any of the deleted songs from the original film... I've been dying to listen to the Edward/Nancy duet for years; it's weird that it hasn't shown up anywhere, not even in one of Alan Menken's concerts!
