The main thing I'm still wondering about is what version of the film we're getting? Uncut, roadshow, edited content, edited length, Corey Burton re-dub, Deems Taylor narration with impersonator filling in the blanks, etc? All we know is it's had an amazing 4k restoration (maybe this was the holdup for the release).

I think I shall ask for BD-Live connection for Christmas. Haha.

Otherwise, WOW! So excited now! I'll be saving up my money for this awesome set.

The folks at Disney have also thought up a novel way to preserve archival, standard-definition bonus features without cluttering up the disc: We will be able to download them via BD-Live!

Mighty ironic use of the word "preserve" there.

Still waiting for official word from Disney! Why are they telling everyone except the people who will buy the damn thing?!?

This is a load of my mind!!! I will definitely be buying this, even though I do not have Blu-Ray yet.

This unfortunately means I will have to keep searching for the Fantasia Anthology, but this is also good news, because if they can't fit the old extras onto a Blu-Ray disc, they must have found more for it!!!!!

Will there be a DVD-only set? What about individual Blu-rays? Will Fantasia World only be on Blu-ray? Is this the only way this is coming out (the 4-disc set)? Do we know which disc Destino will be on? Will it also be on DVD?!?!

I don't trust releases that say they have multiple discs. It could be 2 Blu-ray discs, 1 DVD, and 1 digital copy disc. If this is true and we have Fantasia, Fantasia 2000, Destino, and documentaries on all of those 3... would there be room for any special features. Would Disney then screw us all into needed BD-Live to get special features?

It also worries me that Fantasia World isn't being mentioned at all.

Well hopefully Disney will never put a digital copy in a Diamond Edition release.

I've already posted my thoughts on what I think the discs will be, based on the wording used in the article. Yes, it doesn't mention Fantasia World (all the Fantasia 2006 shorts) but it also doesn't mention Fantasia being a part of the Diamond Edition line. We know both things are coming from various interviews with Don Hahn and the leaked trailer. I also don't think there would ever be a Digital Copy in a Diamond Edition set, as that is just used to give a false sense of value to their barebones sets, while the Diamond Edition line actually has value (as far a supplemental material goes). If anythings, they would include a DVD copy of Fantasia 2000 before they include a Digital Copy of Fantasia.

I don't think they will be Diamond Editions. At least in Europe they won't and since we got the same trailer you got in January via BD-Live, I bet it's the same for the US. The bbfc, which refered to the first trailer with "Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 - The Diamond Editions" does it for the second with "Special Editon Combo Trailer". When I asked Disney Germany about that, they anounced there will be just 12 Diamond Editions and five other DACs, which are also available for limited time only. These are besides Fantasia and Fantasia 2000, 'Alice in Wonderland', 'Aladdin' and 'Dumbo'. So it's clear now, why they used the opening vault for the Dumbo trailer.

For those of you, who don't believe that the US Edition will also a Special Edition, some facts:
-Diamond and Platinum Edition will be released wordwide as those
-Disney Germany announced the release schedule of Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 months before Disney Burbank did (in september 2009 and still as Diamond Editions)
-Remember the US-microsite for beauty and beast? Bambi is stated as the following Diamond Edition!

Well, you may be right. Many a time has new information come from the international WDHE divisions WAY before the domestic.

I don't care what they call it so long as it's a good presentation and supplements package.

As for downloading the 2000 Anthology extras via BD-Live, that's a nice compromise for those that don't have the Anthology box set. Though I'm sure some folks who sold the box set in anticipation of the Blu-Ray are kicking themselves now.

Most definitely! I'm glad that I still have mine so I don't have to wait for the features to download.

You know, maybe we'll get it unedited if it's NOT part of the Diamond line. Since this is going to be an expensive box set that will appeal to collectors and it's a movie that appeals to a more adult demographic, maybe they decided to release it unedited (that being why it may've been dropped from the heavily marketed Diamond line). Just giving myself false hope.

The 4 disc set is going to include a DVD copy of Fantasia, but its sequel is just going to be for Blu-ray? Seems like a bit of a step too far just to get us to move onto Blu-ray. As much as I'm looking forward to getting these films, I must say that has to be discouraging for those who can't make the jump (including me ) I don't think I'll find myself buying the boxset unless they refuse to release a DVD edition of both films; even then, though, it'll just be for the DVD of the first film

I'm a bit confused about this whole 'BD Live' business. In the UK it doesn't appear Disney have started this service yet, but even if I could access the BD Live features, does "download then" mean they could be stored on a Hard Drive, if say you had a Playstation 3? Or do they just mean you could stream the content?

I think you download them. That's what Paramount did for the Transformers Blu-ray when they added brand new HD supplements. Then again, on Disney's BD-Live network, you stream the SD trailers but download the HD ones (you know, considering this is the SD content). Personally, I hope we can download them to watch at our leisure, as I don't want to have to rely on my internet to watch them (considering Disney's BD-Live service takes forever to load).

To answer your question, "download them" should mean download them, as in store them to your Hard Drive, SD card or whatever storage your player uses. I'm currently using a 2GB SD card, so I'm thinking of going out and getting a 32 or 64GB SD for all this content (you know, future proof).

Since the bonus material of the Legacy box set is just a couple of hours of SD content, it could've easily fit on either of the three Blu-rays used. I hope that the audio commentaries of the Legacy set are on the discs, like they should. Those were great.
Though I have to say, the new material does sound interesting. Hopefully Disney will do the right thing, and release Fantasia uncut, as it's supposed to be. Those caricatures are only a problem if one makes them to be.

Great explanation - thanks! Lucky I have a PS3 then I take it those that have stand-alone Blu-Ray players wouldn't be able to download the content, as they don't normally have hard drives installed if I'm not mistaken?
