Here's an article (via animationguildblog.blogspot.com) about TP&tF:
http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-enter ... 69725.html

There's not too much new information, but something that caught my eye is that the title is mentioned as being The Princess and The Frog: An American Fairy Tale. Do you think that Disney added that phrase to the title, or was the author mistaken?

Interesting article. I wonder if they have decided to change the title for a sub heading. If it is, I think it's a bit too wordy, and it reminds me a little of sounding like An American Tale: Fievel Goes West. :P

One point though in particular in the article irked me...
not to mention an attempt to ward off the allegations of racism that have lurked since the heyday of Walt Disney Productions in the 1940s and 1950s.
Other than a few stereotypes here and there in a few of the cartoons, I never really spotted any specific "racism" in Disney films. Also, if Walt Disney Productions was as racist as they say, then why did Walt hire an Asian-American artist Tyrus Wong to be head background designer on Bambi? Or African-American storyman and artist Floyd Norman who contributed from Sleeping Beauty to Robin Hood. I think anyone who accuses Walt Disney Productions or the studio as being racist just really doesn't bother to look up some basic information, and only listen to urban myths and rumors.

If you want racist cartoons, look up the old Looney Toons on Youtube 0.o;;;
Do ppl call Disney racist because of the crows in "Dumbo"? I idin't see them as being a negative stereotype, but I could be wrong...

It's a shame that the whole african-american community is turning this movie into a race issue.

I couldn't care less about the skin color of the heroine.

All the articles I've read are about discrimination, race, chambermaid, etc.
I'm much more interested in the movie itself.
The beauty, the music, the story, etc.

I think the movie itself needs more positive attention, but it's hard with all the negativity created by some people.

When it comes to skin color...im color blind. Weather the princess is black white or green...I dont care...just so its a good story!!! Keep this up ppl and Song of the South will NEVER be released again...EVER.

Indeed I'ts a shame that all the attention seems to go to the 'race issue', while it far more interesting to learn about anticipations about the quality of story and animation, and the important question: "Is there still room for traditional animation?"

I suppose the princes WILL be green, as she is turned into a frog at some point in the story!

They should change the title to "Damned if we do, damned if we don't!"

LOL GOOD ONE!

But true, it is so sad that Race has become such a issue once again and its even to the point it has to come up and be discussed over a Disney Animated movie.

IMO the resurfacing of racial tension/ issues is a result of african americans not being able to let go of the past. Me being 27, Iv never seen first hand a person of color being treated any different then myself.....but I see ppl of color expecting special treatment...or feeling like I and others OWE them something becuase of the color of their skin. This does get frustrating. Did anyone see the View yesterday where they discussed the N word and how if your black you can say it but if your white you cant? THAT I DONT GET. If its not good for all its not good for anyone. I normally dont agree with Elizabeth but I did yesterday on that. I really feel common sense is quickly flying out the window ....

Jeremy,

I know this picture. Actually, I have been using it as my desktop-picture for some time now. The only thing is that the left and right side of the image are cut off... but I get a full view of Tiana and that one extra big shiny star in the right upper corner.

I wonder what scene in the movie this picture represents... I suppose it's at the end and that the star has a meaning.

The thing with the star reminds me of Pinocchio. Maybe the Blue Fairy gets a cameo :D

There's something for TLM3 also, which I posted in the thread. Anyway, here's what it says for the Disney pannel:

11:00-12:00 The Disney Animation Story Process— Nathan Greno (head of story, Bolt), Don Hall (head of story, The Princess and the Frog), Mark Kennedy (head of story, Rapunzel), Joe Mateo (story artist, Bolt), Michael LaBash (story artist, Bolt), Paul Briggs (story artist, The Princess and the Frog), and Josie Trinidad (story artist, The Princess and the Frog) offer an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look into the story process at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Coming together exclusively at Comic-Con, these story team leaders will take you from first concept to final story approval as they discuss the art of storyboarding, re-create story pitches, and share boarding styles from their upcoming animated features. Don't miss this revealing and humorous panel and your chance to get a sneak peek at Disney's next animated feature, Bolt! Room 32AB

I miss those days too, though I always pre-register for the preview night. There's just too many people though!!!! :x

Ok you all didn't miss much... or anything!

The only mention of Froggy and Rapunzel were "here's so and so who's working on...." and that's it. They did show a couple of storyboard sketches of random frogs. Seriously, waste of a couple hour for me. They showed the trailer for Bolt plus a storyboard sequence.....

Well, thank you for telling us Poody, really. You let us know everything, and made us feel glad we didn't miss much. Frogs themselves are boring, but maybe their designs and stylization can make them look interesting. They are cute, actually.

They were cute. They showed them early on when they announced the various people on the pannel who were working on the film. Got me excited over nothin'! :x
