That's probbaly a smart move on Disney's part.
I think the problery wanted you to think that some of Part 3 was Part 2 so you went in thinking that Part 2 was going to have decent animation and be good.

" You're a princess now " ! While they show Part 3's wedding scence makes me think this.

Well, you were correct in the fact I was questioning if it was original artwork to the release :) and yes indeed I have! Would be so lovely to talk to you outside of the Forum Duster, so annoying I can't DM on here!

atlanticaunderthesea wrote:It doesn't bother me if they are released together or separate; just seems odd that Disney aren't thinking of cashing in a making more money and releasing them individually like The Lion King and Beauty & the Beast were ?

Or, conspiracy theory here; are they trying to dial down part II, and want it overshadowed by part III. The trailer shown above basically does that. Maybe it is Disney just trying to ignore it by not giving the film its own release.
Allow me to give my input:
The Lion King 1/2 and 2's blu-ray layout was probably planned out before planning out The Fox and the Hound 1 and 2. Disney must've realized later on that including 2 films on 1 Blu-ray Disc (but not on DVD?) was cost-effective, and to have a weak-selling sequel included in a film that many want to get would justify sales for both. Because if you have a bad DTV sequel sold on its own, no one will buy it. (films that are part of the Diamond Edition should never have a DTV sequel included.) Why Disney didn't bother to redo the Lion King Sequels's release with the new strategy? Guess it was too late to correct that and just distributed as it is.

As for "Beauty and the Beast" sequels, the Christmas film was able to trace back to the digital source so that an HD transfer can be done, while the third film's only finalized version was the analog tape master (guess Disney didn't want to create an HD transfer from scratch. Figures), and upscaling won't do on Blu-ray, so DVDs were the best to use.

(looks at Cinderella sequel trailer) ... Why not have Disney ignore an individual release of the second film? Guess Disney's now realizing how crappy that sequel is. Even I wouldn't bother seeing the second film and just see the third film. Showing the better film's footage rather than the 2nd is probably the best move. They show some of the second, and viewers might not buy it in the end. Either way, the 2nd film can't be officially erased from History. What a shame.

At this point, this will be the same for The Little Mermaid II and Ariel's beginning (advertise it by using the newer films' footage and include both films on the same disc.)

I haven't watched Belle's Magical World, but I've seen enough clips to come to the conclusion that it was done old-school, using cels and an animation camera. Now here's what baffles me. Surely it was shot on 35mm film, and then converted to tape, wasn't it? If so, can't they go to the original 35mm film elements, give those a budget scrubbing and release the film on Blu-ray?

I sure hope it wasn't shot on tape, or it'd be worthless (well and truly).

I wouldn't say "shot on tape", it's more like being transferred from film, then edited and finalized on tape. Now, going back to the film source can be done, but only if those sources still exist. Sure Disney would've re-edited the whole film in HD... but they didn't want to. Just shows that Disney can be lazy (but hey, if Paramount was able to restore Star Trek:TNG straight from the film sources for their Blu-ray's, why couldn't Disney (the company to make more money than Paramount) do the same? Surely, restoring the whole show takes more money than just restoring a low-budget film. At this point, that's just inexcusable, on Disney's behalf.)

Really? I watched it last year on DVD and thought it was far more apparent that it had been colored in digitally than its theatrical predecessor

On the Cinderella Blu I have just received and had a quick glance at the trailers, they contain the trailer for Parts 2 and 3, as shown in the thread a few pages back. So yes, will 100% be released, just a matter of when. No release date was shown.

I love it that they used the Blu-ray artwork, instead of the DVD artwork.
Are there any among you who bought the film on Blu-ray? If so, what's the word on the restoration?

I know that some are disappointed with this release, but are any of us this much so? :o It appears that this same guy also did rants about various other Disney Blu-Ray releases. I also believe he used to post on here (though few crazy rants like this), though I'm not going to mention his username.

What a boring, boring, slow, incoherent and painful rant! :o

He never even says why he won't buy the Diamond Edition. Because of the cover?

If he gets so upset and emotional over a friggin' DVD, I wonder how he'd cope in the real world, where parents and children die and others suffer innumerable hardships.

Personally, with the disappointment of the Lion King and other high profile Blu-Ray releases such as Fantasia, and the stupid "Virtual Vaults" on these and other discs, I'm more than happy with the Cinderella release.

I think all the SD stuff ported over has been upscaled, but I could be wrong. I know the PS3 never used to upscale SD content, but there's been a significant number of firmware updates since I last checked, so perhaps that feature has been added since and the content is stored on the disc in SD format.

However, I'm disappointed there's no galleries. No doubt these will be on the Second Screen experience nonsense in the US, which international Disney still can't be bothered to roll-out outside the US, just like they couldn't be bothered to roll out their BD-Live.

However, I've only viewed one of the new supplements - the Story of the Glass Slipper - and its pants. I can't believe anybody at Disney would think it was worth spending what must have been tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars on this nonsense and not author a decent art gallery!

   This is the most stupid thing I have ever seen!!! I mean, come on!!!! SERIOUSLY???? He didn't even mention why is he not getting the film. Because of the cover?? (which by the way I think is beautiful!!)

Christ! I'm ashamed at even watching the video! Just 16 minutes of a guy talking nonsense and sometimes yelling! :o WTF???

Well, I finally caved in and bought a copy over Amazon, mainly due to the prospect of double DMR points. Curse you and your manipulative marketing, Disney!

I did wonder/suspect if he was on the Autistic spectrum somewhere (possibly beyond Asperger's classification, actually - not that I'm a world renowned psychologist), and as a result, I will admit that I was actually hesitant about posting this video here. I suppose it would put the behaviour in context, though it ultimately must be said that the conduct is quite inexcusable. I did see a video review of it (basically a set of annotations on a much abridged version), and I did think that some of the remarks were a bit too below the belt and arguably crossed over into the domain of full-on Internet bullying. The reason why I did post it was perhaps to but some of our own board ranting into context.
