It looks glorious.

Cate Blanchett was born to play this role. In fact everyone looks great.

What a wonderful surprise.

This looks so awesome! The costumes, the actors, the sets...

If only Sleeping Beauty had gotten a live action version like this, a live action adaption of the movie with more acurate costumes and a little more colorful medieval setting, instead of that awful Maleficent movie. Makes me a bit sad that Disney will not make a live action Sleeping Beauty a la this Cinderella version. If Beauty and the Beast turns out as great as this, I hope Disney will make live action versions of The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Snow White... (I would love live action versions of Pocahontas, Hunchback, Hercules, Mulan, Rapunzel, Frozen etc as well, but that may take some years...)

Oh my God, it looks sensational! I can't believe how anxious I am to see it!
tsom wrote:The scene with Lady Tremaine holding the glass slipper was unexpected.
Disney Duster wrote:But when the stepmother finds Cinderella's glass slipper, that part made me fearful and sad! Not to mention that was one of my ideas for the musical of Disney's Cinderella I want to make, but oh well.
And pay close attention to what she's holding when she's locking Ella in her bedroom! That's why the girl who attented the screening kept saying they made the stepmother even smarter in this film!

YES!!! I noticed that!! I'm excited to see how Ella will overcome that!

Something that just came to my mind plot-wise. Ella's mother died when she was a child, but it seems her father remarries when Ella is already a young adult. Besides loneliness, why bother remarrying when his daughter had reached an age where she would soon be married and wouldn't need a mother's care anymore?

I feel like I've already seen the whole film after watching that trailer. I just don't see the intrigue of this, though I do love Cate Blanchett.

The trailer looks really good - . At least they aren't doing a Maleficent and making a hero of the Stepmother. Bleugh.

I do agree. I imagine most people already know the story of Cinderella anyway but they could have held a little more back.
Not sure if Helena Bonham Carter would have been my casting choice for the Godmother (even though I like her). She is a good actress and all but, I would have preferred someone older.

I will definitely be checking this out, however I do have some major concerns with it.

The production design kind of surprises me. I honestly find some of the costumes a little garish and the CGI on the animals kind of sticks out to me. Maybe it's more cohesive in the finished film? I prefer the designs of the stepfamily in Into the Woods, but they don't necessarily look bad here, just not my preferred look.

The girl playing Cinderella looks to be giving a similar performance to Alice in Alice in Wonderland, at least in these clips. I don't really see that as a good thing. She looks pretty boring and, unfortunately, she's the central character.

Cate. Cate Blanchette. She is the reason to see the film for me! I love the fact that we are getting these prestige actresses going full camp as fairy tale villains. It is by far my favorite new trend in movies. The scene where she confronts Cinderella with the slipper is probably going to be the best scene in the film. Campiest most delightful moment.

From the couple of clips we got, I can't help but feel HBC might be a bit miscast here. However, I will withhold judgement until I see more. She looks entertaining, but her look and her acting choices seem to contrast a bit. Good on Ken, though, to cast her given their past.

Wasn't impressed with the trailer. I'll stick with the 1950 Disney version and Rodgers and Hammerstein.

I'm so saddened but I felt nothing when watching the trailer ? It didn't feel like Disney doing it, it could be any film company, it looked so generic ? I thought at least there would be some inspiration from the animated film, but it appears they haven't used anything at all ? And that's totally fine to do that, but I guess to me, after the wonder and beauty and purely ICONIC film that is Walt's Cinderella … this just doesn't do it for me. Really upset that I wasn't in awe when watching the trailer. Maybe I set my own expectations up so high ?

I totally agree Sith, an Alice situation may occur here for sure.

I'm so sorry to bring negativity, but I'm just so disappointed !

I didn't expect much from the main actress anyway. Cate Blanchett was always the draw for me.

Okay, I literally am having a hard time seeing Helena in a "sweet" role when I'm so used to seeing her playing psychotic ladies like Bellatrix LeStrange, Mrs. Lovett (she counts because she's willing to cook people into meat pies), Madame Thenardier and the Queen of Hearts.

I watched the trailer again and whilst I still think it displayed potential, I've had some doubts set in.
As for the actress playing Cinderella. I thought she was a bit blah, just kinda bland. Beautiful but not much else. Maybe her personality will come across better in the film.
That being said, I probably won't bother seeing this at the Cinema mostly because of the expense of the whole experience nowadays.

Also, do Disney just really like shots of young girls running through long grass? Both the Maleficent trailer and this trailer had almost identical shots.

I just spotted Greenwich in there. They filmed in the Painted Hall. I could recognize that place anywhere. It also instantly takes me out of a film.

But this part of it though

...And of course, when it comes to *the dress*, Powell didn’t disappoint. Cinderella’s signature blue gown is truly breathtaking,

I liked the trailer, overall.

But someone commented that it looks a bit garish, and I would have to agree. All the bright colors at the ball...

And here is a big one: you know when they come up with the name Cinderella, and the stepmother laughs? She is WEARING LEOPARD PRINT!!! WHAT????

What century is this??!?!?!?!

After finally seeing the trailer, I'll say that my feelings are mixed. While some of the architecture and settings does resemble Walt's 1950-classic, it still felt as it were a typical film of it's genre. The CGI animals felt obvious CGI. But on the superficial side; Richard Madden is a cutie ;)

I wonder if Cinderella is going to be more active in this version, more of a woman of this era, instead of just relying on hope and faith. I know that that Cinderella in Walt's version (and in the original fairy tale) gets criticized for her passivity, but I think Cinderella does have her moments where she shows some spunk and stands up to her family, although she's no Mulan, of course.

However, I'm still going to give it a shot and I wouldn't mind to like this movie. But pardon my comment, do we really need another "Cinderella" tale?
