Very minor but Asha having a shawl/scarf reminds me of Meg from Hercules. Specifically from this scene:
(Probably not a reference on Disney's end - I think it's just my own internalized purple dress comparisons

)

Those are both beautiful, although Asha looks different there than in other pictures? That's the best image of Magnifico so far.

^ I noticed Asha's hair braids have pencil/black outlines (vs being "smooth" with no outline.)
Magnifico has outlines around his chin and hands, etc.

I do think this film will be a moderate hit at least, but more than that, I *hope* it is. I don't mind Olaf, but Star is so cute, it'd be nice to see a thousand toys of it everywhere.

Nice posters

They look more dimensional as opposed to 2D.

Those posters are lovely and I'm very excited for this movie to come out. I got to appreciate that Disney is finally trying to do something a bit different with their animation style and backgrounds in comparison to their previous films. Also, it's pretty interesting that they hired different songwriters for the movie; I thought either the Lopezes or Alan Menken would be involved, but I'm hopeful that Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice will do a very good job with the music.

I agree, it's nice to see them venturing outside the box visually. And also doing so with something new and visually appealing, whereas Strange World also was out-of-the-box, but the design was ugly for me, unfortunately. I think the look of this film or older films like the Mary Blair / Eyvind Earle work, the art design of Pocahontas, Aladdin, Hercules, Mulan, etc. is a good way of looking at how to break out-of-the-box of the more basic designs of the Lasseter area, in a way that's incredibly pretty.
I do like Julia Michaels in other contexts, so I am trying to go in with a positive expectation. Hopefully she at least can be on par with maybe Pasek & Paul, as far as their songs tend to have a feeling of pop radio more than Broadway, and since she's more of a pop / radio figure, I'd be satisfied with that at least although of course I'd have liked something more Broadway. Best case scenario is if she turns out something on par with Phil Collins' Tarzan or Elton Johns' TLK--although I'm not crazy enough to think that would be the case, but it would be nice if it happened and anything is possible.

"Walt Disney Co. is reviewing its schedule of film releases through the rest of the year and may delay some titles because striking actors won’t help promote the pictures, according to people familiar with the matter.
The discussions are at an early stage, but could impact films including Poor Things, Next Goal Wins, Wish and Magazine Dreams, which are all slated for release this year. Any changes will depend on the outcome of the review, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing internal matters."

Delaying the movie may be damaging, as Disney is known for its Thanksgiving release and Wish SCREAMS "Thanksgiving/Christmas movie". The actors strike is a poor excuse to delay the film, they act as if Wish is a Live Action Movie, please

I think 70% of moviegoers dont even know or care who voices in animated movies. They also have to skip their typical March position due to the final Spiderverse (although i think its getting delayed) so a Summer release would be ok. But if Wish has troubled production ala Frozen2, then PLEASE DISNEY DELAY IT AS MUCH AS YOU WANT FROZEN 2 WAS BAD

I don't think that Wish had a troubled production since they're supposed to complete the animation soon.

Beyond the Spider-Verse is most certainly getting delayed. 1) the second movie was delayed a few times; 2) one voice actress confirmed in
early June 2023 that she hadn't recorded any lines for the movie. If the voice acting hasn't been finalized, then the animation isn't complete and probably can't be completed in under a year if they keep the March 2024 slot.
I think the rumor mill (nothing official) is that Sony is waiting for Across the Spider-Verse to be released on digital before announcing the 3rd film will be delayed.
As it relates to Disney/Wish - I don't know how much the strikes effect animation, but I'm supposing production is finished or able to be finished without drawback.
I think Disney would be fools to delay the release when they already have the Thanksgiving slot locked. They should feel safe doing so, financially. Elemental while it had a poor opening weekend, has positive word of mouth and is a contender to make half a billion dollars this year. (Also Elemental became the
highest grossing Pixar movie in South Korea.)

North African with south europeans ancesters...what an invent.
If they wanted to do that they could hace done a history based on the times where arabian were living at the same time in Spain. It would have had more sense than this bullsh*t

That description allows them to hire Afro-Latinas to play Asha. What a farce!

I just created an account because I've been reading this forum just for the Wish post (it's the only place that posts updates on the movie)
But I'm tired of people like you, I'm spaniard (you're probably not) and Al Andalus was literally the mix between amazigh people and iberians (and many other groups like West African slaves sadly, jewish people aka west asians, arabs and other groups)
So I don't get what's your problem, Asha is an example of how people in the peninsula looked and still look

I'm spaniard so inform yourself before talk. Spaniards doesn't look like Asha. Even her hairstyle is not common on Spain so I don't know what are you talking about. Asha IS another afro american character dressed with an invented gown made to have another black princess. She doesn't look spaniard, she doesn't look arabian and she doesn't have any inspiration on the Al Andalus period so please, make yourself a favor and investigate more.
She is a missed chance of an interracial princesa with a beautfiul mix of cultures. This "new country" that they created should have been inspired in Toledo where 4 cultures lived together for a long time.
