That's honestly not that bad. Cinderella looks pretty cute and reminds me a lot of the Broadway logo:

I don't like how these characters are getting new personalities now. New look, new personalities. How the hell are they still the actual characters anymore?

No, Disney never made their character's head that big or their whole bodies that out of proportion.

Pardon my ignorance, but what's so bad about it? I couldn't see it.

the most offensive thing is that they're still keeping those stupid makeovers...
I dont mind the defiant poses so much...but it is out of character for some of them.

I think having them a bit more like this is much more preferable to being simpering and "Oh ! How I just love getting dressed for tea !" ... though too much sass, and again you loose the character. Or heck, why not even try having the Princesses display all their actual personalities that made them beloved in the first place ?

Guys... that's not a new personality for Cinderella. At all.

She is in fact sarcastic in various parts of all three of her movies. ("Old killjoy, I hear you, get up you say!" "There must be SOMETHING good about him", "Perhaps we should interrupt the 'music lesson'") If anything, the brainless 'princess personality' is the fake one that Disney has slapped onto her. *is very passionate about this*

Elsa's head is almost as large as her shoulders!

Rapunzel's is not much better:

Same with Ariel...

Compare this with Anastasia:

Any of the Barbie movies:

Shrek:

...And many more. Maybe the dolls heads in the most recent line are slightly larger than how these princesses are portrayed in the films, but it's not a big stretch. And like I said, regardless of animation, this makes the line better suited for current markets.

Cinderella got mad at the clock and Lucifer, I don't think she meant to be sarcastic when she said there must be something good about Lucifer, she stated it like she really thought there must be, no smile, but you are right about the "music lesson" line. But in the picture above, she looks full of attitude, like she's smirking, like she's tough, almost like she's mean, with one eyebrow down in like a mean way.

You have presented good evidence, but when I look at the dolls in comparison to the shots, the dolls look more out of proportion. Also, you presented characters they didn't have dolls of. And the most old one, Ariel, doesn't nearly have the same proportions as Elsa and Rapunzel.

Disney shouldn't change the princesses to fit into the new way toys are. They should be true to the films. I doubt Disney really would struggle selling toys that look like they come from the films the children who ask for these toys love. Not to mention toys that just look good because they come from well-designed characters and not Bratz and Monster/Ever After High less good designs.

theyre "tough" but they still wont drop the princess dresses... this would look a bit less ridiculous if Cindy & Tiana had their work dresses & Ariel & Belle their blue dresses.

I just love how Tiana wears her wedding dress all the time, even though we know she has a whole wardrobe to choose from.

With those down-pointed eyebrows I guess being tough is the same as being strong and great and amazing...

I dont understand why they all now have slightly frowning brows, but I do much prefer having a little bit of this rather than simpering constantly. Which I really don't think any of them ever have done in their movies ? As has been said, if they had their 'normal' clothes on rather than Princess dresses, wouldn't jar quite so much I think.

Really surprised they've not given Rapunzel another dress by now ? She's had three to date, yet they only ever use this one.

Does Disney's marketing department realize that "strong" female characters means well-written characters with diverse personalities and not just ones who act "tough" or have "attitude" or constantly raise one of their eyebrows?

If I remember correctly I read in an interview a couple of years ago, that the reason Tiana's always in her green wedding dress on Disney Princess merchandise is because at the time there were already a lot of princesses in the lineup that wore blue or had blue in their dress, so they didn't want to add another princess in a blue dress.
And since Tiana only has two actual 'princess-y' dresses in the movie (the green dress and the blue dress; her other dresses are a lot more modern) the marketing department decided to use her green dress.

Can't seem to find the article online though, so not sure if it's true. I also remember reading that Rapunzel originally had a green dress but that the creators of Tangled were asked to change it because Tiana also had a green dress. Not sure if that's true either, since I always thought Rapunzel wore purple because it's a royal colour (and she's secretly the lost princess).

If they wanted something distinct from the other princesses, they could have used her white dress from "Almost There". It's a great lookng dress and certainly qualifies as "pretty".
