a double image is not normal. Actually, I think it's likely you might be using a Standard-def connection, or having a problem with your TV. make sure the sharpness level is at 50/50 or 0.

Does this happen with any other movie, broadcast, or game?

Thanks for responding! No, it doesn't happen with any other movie or broadcast. It didn't happen during the previews. Only during the movie (both extended and theatrical versions). When I paused it at the 'double image' parts there was no double image. And when I watched it at slow speed it wasn't as evident. Maybe I will fiddle with the settings. How do you set the sharpness level? Thanks!

How do you have your player connected? HDMI? Component? or standard AV cables?

In all honesty, I say the colors look great from the Platinum Edition hands down! If you don't compare the two, you will not see that in the blu-ray they did put a lot of the shadowing back in and it is more to the original warmer colors.

Another thing, I think Belle's hair was suppose to be the light medium brown (Not with the reddish tint though in the Platinum Edition)
When you watch the Celine Dion Music Video you will notice where Belle is walking to the rose before the Beast screams, "GET OUT!" You will see that Belle's hair was that color.

I honestly think the Ballroom scene is much warmer and better looking. It's not so much darker in the original print but Belle's gown is back to as it was with that nice glow to it! :)
It felt like I was watching the film for the first time back in 1991! :D
My mom even noticed the colors were more closer to the original colors and she doesn't watch the movie as much as I do lol. She said it's 100 times better then the Platinum Edition. :)

But I still don't understand why Belle's eye color is a green in the beginning of the movie, and then her eye color turns to a light brown. I prefer her the light brown color. :)

Yes, they can call it the Oscar Edition.
DH: We went through that whole process and part of it is going to the original digital files and bringing those back online and re-timing it all and remembering what the movie looked like.
Their memory sucks.
This isnt even an argument, the colors are different from in the previews, and in the LD. The color differences were the main selling point of the platinum DVD.
BD: What are we going to notice on Blu-ray in particular?

DH: We color corrected the red tunic because it was intended to be this apple red and in the movie it came out rusty colored. So a lot of times we were able to go back to the original intent of the movie because you have to compromise when you go to film. It looks great on film, but this gives us the option to go back to the original color palette.
That I might believe(though the red color on Gaston looks absolutely stupid)
Red and purple are colors that get a dramatic change when going from DVD to Blu Ray cause of the expanded color space. That doesnt explain any other color changes.

haha I wouldn't care what they called it as long as I knew what I was getting.
I feel lied to when someone says it's one version and it is clearly altered.

Wait...they had to remember what it looked like? I don't understand...don't they just have to look at the original CAPS files to remember what it looked like? In fact, don't the original CAPS files mean re-timing them was unnecessary? It sounds like what happened was the film just looked different on film than on the computer, so they made things brighter (and shirts more annoying red) on the computer and, well, the film looks brighter (and kind of annoying).

the cd packaged with Beauty and the Beast sold at Target

I was hoping someone could tell me what songs are on the CD packaged with the movie. A copy was bought for my 4 year old daughter (from toys r us). She loves to sing along with all of the songs from the princess movies so I was considering picking up a copy, mostly for the CD, from Target. I was just trying to decide if that would be a good option or if I'd be better off trying to find another CD or two maybe used. Any help or suggestions on a good princess CD would be great. Thanks! :)

...do you want the CD? I mean, I could probably send it to you via standard postage. I got it, and I really have no use for it.

HDMI. I watched the DVD and it happens too, so I think the discs are ok. Maybe I need to sit further away or something (I'm already like 10 ft away though). Or if you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it because I'd rather not see the double image if possible. Thanks!

Speaking of the DVD, although the colors are clearly more vivid, deep, and rich in the Bluray, I almost prefer the lessened clarity of the DVD, as the lines in the Bluray are so clear that you can see every single sketchy looking flaw. In the DVD the lines seem thicker or I guess more 'blurred' so the flaws are not evident.

The sketchy flaws are what I love about seeing hand drawn animation in HD. I mean, I don't like it when its too obvious, the Aristocats for example, but most other movies with cleaner linework look great in HD.

If it bothers you you can always turn the sharpness way down to blur the image.

Haha no, that would just feel wrong. I still prefer the bluray for its spectacular image, but I don't think the DVD is entirely inferior; it has its own merits.

Something occured to me...
Last year when Snow White came out, there were various bonus offerings in the packaging. Such as, the set with the plush dwarves, the book case set, etc.

Was there anything like this for Beauty and the Beast? If not in North America, how about internationally?

From what I know the only bonus offering is a bonus CD (Target) and a free movie ticket for Tangled (Walmart). We didn't get collector's set, no plush toys, and no book case set. I don't know about internationally.

For those who bought Beauty and the Beast at Target what songs are on the bonus CD?

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: Diamond Edition

I picked up the 2-disc Diamond Edition DVD a couple of days ago and I am so confused. How do you select which version of the film you want to watch? I can’t seem to work it out and it automatically seems to play the Special Edition from both the Fast Play and Menu. I've read through the past 10 pages or so here and checked out a few reviews, but I'm not having any luck figuring it out. Any ideas?

My copy came in the mail yesterday, and while I haven't had time to peer through the contents of the disc, I have to say, this slipcover is perhaps the most embossed and sparkliest slipcover I have ever owned. It's clear the folks at Disney were bound and determined to have this movie catch someone's eye!
