I actually quite like the cover art now. I wasn't keen at first, but it has grown on me! Or I've gotten used to it. haha. I'm really enjoying the Diamond line as I didn't get the first few Platinum titles and only got a few of the later ones.
Agreed, with the Platinum line, I focused on the 90s movies they released during that time. Diamond and the end of Platinum been a good opportunity to get Walt stuff

I don't feel like going through 28 pages...
But would anyone who own the DVD only Edition from the US, be willing to post photos of it? Slipcover, inside? Is it really 2 discs etc....
It would be highly appreciated.

Is it just me, or are the featurettes in Inside The Story Meetings inaccessible? The thing comes up to press enter to watch, I press enter, get a countdown, and nothing ever happens. Starting to get frustrated. I know my Blu-Ray player isn't super high end, but it IS fairly recent and it plays The Sound Of Music's enhanced content with pretty much no issue, so I'm at a loss as to why this is giving me so much trouble.
Well whaddya know, it was working - I simply wasn't noticing the transitions. I finally noticed it was working when I fast forwarded to the spot where the Pluto cartoon plays, did that, then saw the cartoon played. Then I played that part again and noticed it was different. Well, there goes my "I coulda had a V8" moment.
As my first Disney Blu-Ray, I gotta say, the image and audio quality are immaculate. The color palette is beautifully saturated, but not offensively so. I watched it with DisneyView and I like the idea, but I will probably choose to watch with black bars on the side, as I can resume with that one but not with DisneyView.
Couple of quick questions regarding Bambi BR

I have a friend that´s fan of this movie and has the Platinum DVD.
Since it´s his favorite, I´d like to give him as a gift the BR release. Much more so since he doesn´t have a traditional animated movie on that format.
So...
1. I do have the movie on BR that also comes with the DVD as we all know. However, I don´t have a great TV in order to make comparisons so I´d like to know if it´s really noticeable the BR video upgrade.
2. The new BR Extras are worth it?
Thanks

Yes, I read the review but I still would like the opinions of the members of the forum. No offense.
Just that I´d like to know what others have to say as well.
Thanks.

The Blu-Ray is definitely in top condition for picture and sound, and "Inside Walt's Story Room" feature length "commentary" is a definite upgrade.
I've also come to enjoy the Second Screen, but that's assuming you have an iPad.

So I'm reviving this thread, cause I had some comments about Bambi. I don't know if there is a more recent one, but oh well. You guys can let me know.
I have never owned Bambi on any format. I do have Disney Plus and I just realized that the Inside Story Meetings-extended edition for this film is available to stream! I was very happy, and watched the entire thing. It was very interesting, and well put together.
But what REALLY struck me was this: the video transfer used for this feature is GREAT. It shows cel fluctuations, the occasional mistake, brush strokes on the cels, and a nice faint grain texture... very unusual for a Disney restoration. So I compared to the transfer used for the film itself presented on D+. IT IS NOT THE SAME TRANSFER. On the film transfer, there is no grain, all colors have been smoothed out, and we also get some loss of linework, similar to the Cinderella restoration (not nearly as bad... it's a rare occurrence in the Bambi transfer). Has anyone else noticed this?
Do you guys if that other transfer was ever made available??

I think the Inside Walt's Story Meetings transfer is the same as the Platinum one.

I think so as well, Cinderella also has the Platinum Edition there (though Platinum and Diamond are the same with the exception of the blue logo at the end).
According to someone on Original Trilogy:
The Diamond Edition (2011) BD and DVD is marginally better than the 2005 Platinum Edition, but also much more aggressively restored.
Purist recommendation: 1990 Laserdisc.
Acceptable Alternatives: The 2005 Platinum Edition is less heavily restored and contain colors consistent with the 1990 LD. The ‘teleporting raccoon’, a production error Disney wasn’t able to fix, is corrected in this release. This edition may exhibit the so-called ‘crawling fur’ artifact of film grain removal.
The Diamond Edition is considered one of the least destructive of Disney’s Blu-ray transfers. Original effects such as ripple glass water are preserved.
But I don't own Bambi's Platinum Edition, so I can't know for sure.

Thanks for the info, DisneyPrincess.
It's a shame that the 2005 restoration isn't available in HD. Hard to discern without looking at the film stock itself (or the laserdisc for that matter), but I felt that the appearance of inconsistencies showed a lot of restraint and respect for the source material.
I wish Disney was more thoughtful when it came to these old masterpieces and their restorations...
