Thanks for that restoration credit screencap, Aladdin! I'm very pleased to see that this is indeed a Lowry job. It makes me wonder why they didn't do The Little Mermaid. Like Luke, I find it bizarre that they didn't re-use the backgrounds from the opening credits like they did with Bambi, Cinderella, and Lady and the Tramp (and yet they used the same font...). Still, this doesn't really bother me, even if I would've liked both credits to have matched. I find it interesting that they kept the RKO logo this time around. At least now Dumbo and Alice in Wonderland won't look like such oddballs in the Disney canon.

Thank you so much for the screen caps! I was really worried that the picture would look cold, like the 1999 DVD on the comparison thread, but the restorers have kept the warmth and brilliance of the orginal, and it doesnt look as if it has been fiddled around with.

I like the menus; they look very sweet. I'm sure they are animated with sound effects etc. But for me personally, my favourite menu is the main menu from The Little Mermaid Special Edition. So beautiful, it makes you catch your breath. Stunning.

The audio is supposed to be superb, or so I've heard.

I can't wait any longer! I need March 12th to come NOW !! !!

I haven't read through this whole thread, but do you have any idea what the figurines look like? I'm hoping they're on-key and don't have moveable limbs.

Guess I'll be getting mine @ Target as well....

I have no idea, though I'd be willing to be that they'll be more toy-ish than decorative.

I'm pumped for this release too!! This was the first book I ever read so I'm VERY excited that it's coming out on dvd. The store I go to (Moviestop) to get my dvds has it in now and they actually showed me my reserved copy but they can't sell it to me until Tuesday. They've had it behind the shelf for a few days so customers can see it and try to place a reserve on it.

It looks like there won't be a one-disc edition here in the Netherlands. This is the first time since Cinderella we're only getting the 2-disc.
Who needs a one-disc anyway? PE's are supposed to be 2-disc ^^

According to the BBFC, "In Walt's Words" is only about 8 minutes long.

No doubt! The Lion King Platinum Edition is one of my favorites (partly because it is my favorite Disney film) but the DVD is very poorly organized. I am fairly pleased with it as a Platinum Edition in reguards to amount of bonus features, but is really is just poorly organized.

Question: There was a live-action Peter Pan that came out a few years ago. Was this any god?

Hook? It starred Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman, I haven't seen it in a few years but I remember it being pretty passable if nothing more.
