I'm so happy because my Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs PE (obviously from 2001) just arrived in the post today, I ordered off Amazon along with Beauty and the Beast PE (which arrived the other day) because I originally missed out on them, and so the features are very new to me but I can say they both have some a substantial amount of features, and I can notice a definate difference between these older PE's and newer ones. I wish The Little Mermaid PE had as much features as Snow White's (being that's it's my favorite film of all time). Anyway it would be great to have that LIVE SW included on the new 2009 Edition, I haven't managed to watch all of Disney Through the Decades yet but I really liked what I saw, so an updated and extended version would be so cool. I might be wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere long ago (can't quite remember where) that at one time there was to be sequence with SW's mother, it would be amazing if Disney included some concept art, has anyone else heard of this or have I just conjered these up?

I have a question. Is there anyone who's going to pick up the older Snow White platinum after the re-release comes out? I ask this because I'm sure it'll be much easier to find used when the re-issue comes out. For me it's easy to find the 2003 issue of Sleeping Beauty used and other older editions on DVD used. Do you think it's wise to pick that one up after the re-issues come out this fall? (DVD/Blu-Ray issue aside)

What the bonus material will be hasn't been publsihed yet, so I don't know if you should. Compared to the trailer on the Pinocchio PE, the picture quality will be roughly the same.
It will be a lot cheaper, though. The same thing happened with the Ultimate Toy Box when the 2-disc special editions of the Toy Story films came out. But watch out for bootlegs, there are a lot around, especially for Snow White.

Snow White doesn't cheat with Cinderella's husband! Snow White's prince has no name! He's just "The Prince".

As stated by my first statement.
I was just replying to those who think that way, then.
I'm not planning on double-dipping. We don't know what all the bonus features are, but the bonus features on the original release are so good, I don't know what they'll add that will be really worthwhile for those of us who already own the 2001 PE.

All I can think of that might be worth adding is the pip commentary.

Thank you,
PrincePhilipFan, for adding your thoughts and information to the discussion. Apparently, Walt Disney was trying to expand the role of the prince with each fairy tale he turned into a film. It's true this is recognizable in
Sleeping Beauty. Prince Philip *has* much more to do than the previous two princes, and yes, Aurora is more of a prop in her own movie. That's also one of the complaints I have about that film. How are we supposed to care for her when we really don't know anything about her? And she doesn't even utter a single word after being awakened by Philip's kiss! But back to the princes: to me, the first prince to really have added value, story-wise, is Erik in
The Little Mermaid.
About
Snow White's new PE: I just hope Disney won't mess with the colors like they did with
Pinocchio. I watched that this night and the brightness was blinding me!

I hope the release another 2D feature on Blu this year...I'll be so dissapointed if this is all that we're getting
As much as I respect Snow White for what it is...the way storys are told through animation now leaves it totally in the dust.

Something I found interesting, the Antidote for the Sleeping Death (aka the Apple) is that it's Love's First Kiss. No mention of it having to be True Loves First Kiss. In the end it doesn't matter since they both love each other...but that makes me wonder if it's True Love they feel or just normal love.
Thoughts?

I think what we need to ask ourselves is "What is True Love, and is it any different from normal love?" Normal love can be for anyone you know-Family, friends, etc. True Love can be for the one special person in the world. That's my input.

I'm actually more concerned with the fact that it's specifically love's FIRST kiss. What would've happened if Snow and the Prince had smooched before she bit into the apple? At least Sleeping Beauty takes care of this problem by simply making it "true love's kiss," though Maleficent mistakenly calls it "love's first kiss" later on.

Thanks for posting this! ^ Still think Snow White looks computer generated on the cover. Oh well I wont be purchasing this release anyway. The First Platinum DVD release is sufficient for me.

I love the cover but I don't like the title font. I so hope they fix this and put it in a "box". The title becomes lost, espcially on a cover with so much going on, the "boxes" help make the title stand out.

They need to move Snow White and the title down just a little bit, so that the queen doesn't feel so squished in between "Walt Disney" and the Blu-ray banner.
Or maybe just remove "Platinum Edition" from underneath the title... It already says 2-Disc Platinum in the banner... it doesn't need to say it twice on the same cover. That would leave a little bit of room to play around with the title.
I don't think putting the title in a "box" is a good idea... There is already 2 frames on the cover (the mirror and the Blu-ray frame) adding another would not work. It would make it far too cluttered.
And would it really be that difficult to complete the princes foot ? There is no point for his foot to fade into blue nothingness in the corner.

i think this cover is a fake. honestly look at how well done the pinocchio and sleeping beauty covers were, this looks cheap and just plain bad. we never got an official announcement saying this was it either. i say we wait til next week when we most likely will get the cover art and official announcement to start critiquing it, because i can pretty much bet this is fake or at the very most a rough rough rough draft.

Well, the "Blu-ray Disc" circle that's part of the banner will only be seen on the slipcover. The actual artwork on the case should have a straight border going across the top like Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio, giving more room for the Queen's crown.

Yeah, cause the normal BD disc case has the logo engraved into the top.
